I've had major problems with Zenernet as a contractor. First, we had to augment my costs to include a backup for my entire house. When we went out to gain bids, I asked all the bidders to provide a quote so that I could back up my entire house (rather than just a few switches). After I accepted Zenernet's bid, they informed me that my quote was only for a few switches and I would have to decide which switches I wanted to hook up. Please keep in mind ALL my other bids were for an entire house backup so I don't think I was miscommunicating my scope. Anyway, I had to add $6000 to my costs to get the house backed up. We had to amend the scope a second time because they couldn't implement the solar configuration that they had bid. Instead of putting it on my second story roof, they had to move it to the first story roof. I wanted to put it onto my second story to keep my second story cooler but was unable to do that. Third, its taken forever to get everything completed. I signed my original contract with Zenernet on 5/12/2021. Today is 12/16/2021 and my project still hasn't been activated by my utility. Fourth, I don't know how they treat their employees. I found out when they came back to do some more work that one of the guys got heat stroke while he was working on my roof. I was not out observing, but one of the employees told me that his co-worker had heat exhaustion and was throwing up all the way home. Not the way I want to have things done nor the way I want to have people treated who work for us.

we are into our 8th month, still waiting to pass inspection . they keep dropping the ball on this project. having a hard time getting in touch with people they just don't return calls or email. The only person i can stay in touch is the gentleman who sold me on Zenernet he is the only one who does keep in touch, the problem is that they lie to him also. how do i know this i have been told according to the notes in my file was that the county was holding things up but according to the county it's Zenernet that is not getting back to the county. How do i know this, i went to the county offices to check on the hold up.Problem being that the plans have a 100amp breaker and the installer put in 200amp. sounds like a easy fix well that was on October 6th today is December 4th.even the salesman can't get a straight answer . i've had the panels and battery installed in August they look great sitting on my roof to bad i still write a check to the electric company every month.

Hi Joseph - we apologize for the poor communication and delays in passing inspection. We are currently in regular communication with the county to obtain permission to operate and have issued reimbursements for energy expenses incurred during the delay. We will continue to keep a close eye on this and hope to leave you with a better impression of Zenernet as we bring your project to completion.

THe sales team is very responsive. However, once the account is switched to a project manager, everything falls apart. The worst is the subcontractor who, first had our single-home system as a ground array, then the surveyor they sent placed the electrical panel on the wrong side of the house (of which he took pictures of), and then no one is paying attention to the efficiency of the system. Yes, they sold 16 panels, but are not really interested in the efficiency of those panels and how they're installed on the roof and in which direction. There is a lack of follow-through with the customer and listening to what the customer wants. If this gets fixed, I'll update this review.

IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND MY SYSTEM IS STILL NOT OPERATIONAL. I had already done quite a bit of research, and I still had A LOT of questions. I was frustrated with the way many companies presented the information and quotes. For me, going solar is a big deal. It's a significant upfront cost (even if, or especially if, you are financing) and it's a long-term choice. I wanted to understand as best I could exactly what I was getting into. Shae and Brandon were patient, respectful, responsive and clear. I felt that I had been provided all the information I needed to make an informed response so I signed with Zenernet. ONE YEAR LATER AND MY SOLAR SYSTEM IS STILL NOT OPERATIONAL. At every stage of the process, there have been issues and delays, far too many to recount here. Needless to say, the attention to detail that I experienced from their sales team was entirely lacking from the project management side. It took them 9 months to get my panels installed (July 2021) and as of today (September 28, 2021) my system is still not operational. This experience has been nothing less than abysmal.

The installation process was a nightmare that lasted over 5 months because of unnecessary fixes and permit issues. I was told I needed to take care of the problems but told Zennernet I was not going to do it and they could come take back the solar. They ultimately fixed the issue but I was having to pay my normal electric bill plus the new instal bill even though the system wasn't on yet.

They don't even deserve a star! I signed a contract in July and gave Zenernet 21k down and it took 5 months to get permits approved with the City of Corona and one month for the home owner's association approval. I receive no updates I had to call them. All I got from them was sorry for the delay or we will expedite with my manager and CEO. Now I am hearing it will be installed sometime in January. My best advice is to think twice before choosing this company!

It was a horrible experience the whole time. It was one issue after next and was passed around to 10 people. From sales underquoting to engineering saying we don't need panel upgrade to then change mind 2 months later. We are on month 9 since signing contract and still don't have solar. Nobody answers calls when I try to ask a question. Just bad all around.

Wish I'd heeded the negative reviews before getting involved with Zenernet. The sales process was generally good but there were indicators from the beginning....they had used an incorrect address to give me first specs, several items on the contract were also incorrect. But it really went downhill once I paid my deposit. Had to prod to get any action to keep the process rolling. Had 2 different project managers in the span of 3 weeks - and the PM who quit the company didn't do any handoff to the incoming PM. Still, I hung in until my neighbors who are further down the installation road with Zenernet gave me a heads up that they're deeply disappointed they went with Zenernet, suggesting I get out while I still can. I decided to not move forward and informed both my Sales and Project Managers of this by phone and email. Never got a response (no surprise there), and haven't received a refund for my deposit of $1,000. Still hoping......

Sales rep was excellent, so I decided to go with Zenernet, but after signing the contract, it has been a hell. I got 4 different project managers/concierge, none of them are responsive. After 5 months, we still have not got permit - it took two months to complete the design and then they sent permit application to a wrong city! When the city told Zenernet it was a wrong city, they sat on it for a whole month until I found out from my city no permit application has been submitted to my city. During this time, project managers told me permit process should go quickly, or they should get permit status in a few weeks - none of them were honest enough to tell me the truth or had no intention to find out the true permit status. They also ask me to pay 75% of the contract price even though they have not successfully pulled permit. The contract says the payment is due upon permit issuance. Had I known the project management was this poor, I would not have selected Zenernet. One other reason why I selected Zenernet was the customer review rating. Now that I am going through the poor project management process, I realize the timing of company review requested by Best Company is too early (i.e. right after the sales process completes, and their sales are great!), so the customer experience after the sales is not properly reflected in the rating.

STAY AWAY! Giving this company a 1 star is more than they deserve. I was promised by sales that my solar would be installed in 2-3 months. It has now been 6 months and Zenernet cannot even get the plans approved. I live in a neighborhood with solar on almost half of the houses so getting solar installed is not uncommon by any means. Zenernet's plans for the city have been declined 7 times and they still do not have it approved! The people doing the actual work for Zenernet clearly do not know how to do their job. In addition, the communication from Zenernet is horrible and it's like pulling teeth to get anything done or get answers. The best thing I can do now is share my honest experience to help others so they don't make the same mistake of using Zenernet.

Before signing the contract Zenernet (Alex) was very nice and although the monthly final amount was more, I went with Zenernet instead of other vendors. Sky was promised to me and installation was scheduled for Dec end. It is March mid now and no progress. In the name of some PG&E limitations etc, they said there is delay a month back. How to keep customer at bay?. Keep changing the project manager that way new mgt will take time to understand and reply. Now the situation is even more bad as the previous mgrr did not respond to my phone calls either. In this musical chair finally the second mgr again got assigned as project mgr. Anyone before signing contract please have it in written and question these aspects. If something goes wrong within next 20 yrs am not sure how this company will cater if they dont pick up the phone before installation itself. After so much thought I am writing this review out of frustration as no progress is made in my case.

I am still waiting for my system to be installed after six months of delays. The installation was done improperly twice (they don't have their own installers - they just outsourced it to random people who didn't even do the design of the panels right) including the system not being grounded (which is a huge fire hazard and a very basic part of the installation). The employees I worked with to get my project done keep quitting and changing, the inspection was booked twice and still hasn't happened (which has cost me thousands of dollars in delays). On top of all that, they were far more expensive than competitors. I went with them because I was promised the best level of service. It's been a complete mess.

The only thing good I have to say is that our salesman really tried to pull through for us but the company itself failed him and us miserably. We contacted them back in May and from end of July till mid Nov there was no contact telling us what was happening. I should have known something was up when they couldn't get our contract right. It took them 4 times!!! Each time I had to redo the information. Someone dropped the ball somewhere and no one cared enough to pick and fixed it. Our sales guy was our only contact. He emailed and called the company for us several times trying to find out what was going on. Nothing!!! I even called the company myself. They referred me back to my sales guy! Finally a friend of mine I went to lunch with told me she was so excited to have her solar up and running. I was floored. It took them 6 weeks!!! I asked her what was the equipment she was getting. She told me Generac. I was now beyond mad!! I went home text and emailed my sales guy and said I waited long enough and this is absolutely ridiculous. I cancelled my contract with them. Called Ben with Sunkissed Solar (a local might I add) who came out the next day and listened to me vent. He set me up with the exact same thing. However he said I didn't need as many panels as the this company was selling me. I ended up with exactly the same thing. $50 a month cheaper than what Zenernet quoted me and it took them 9 weeks to have me up and running!!! 9 WEEKS!! This was with Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year as well as the issues with government protocols with COVID!! I seriously was thinking end of Feb 1st of March with everything but nope, they got it done. Use a local provider that sells exactly what Zenernet does and will do a much better and faster job!!

Worst customer service ever. Full stop. We engaged Zenernet in August, signed a contract, gave them $1000. It's now January, and we are no farther ahead than we were when we opened our wallet. We've been assigned a half-dozen project managers, who promptly disappeared right after receiving the email that introduced them as our new project manager. We couldn't get updates on our project from anyone; someone always had to check to see where the project was and then promised us that someone would get back to us. We finally, just today, said enough was enough. We're shopping for a new solar company--back at square one. After losing six months.

Zenernet has a lot of good reviews. Probably because they start asking for reviews prior to performing any work. Our experience with Zenernet has been a nightmare. We signed up in March and our panels were not fully installed until September. Even then, we had to ask them to come back to correct framing sticking out from under the panels. Their contractor fixed the problem on one side and left framing sticking out the other side. They also did nothing to prevent pigeons from nesting under the panels. Our roof is now covered with pigeon poop. Upon inspection of our roof, we discovered numerous cracked and broken tiles leading to, surrounding and even under the new solar panels. Further, tiles were removed from the opposite side of our roof leaving two holes for today's rain to poor into. Weeks have passed since we complained about the roof damage and no one has as yet come out to inspect or repair our roof. We now need to access the attic to inspect for water damage. In addition to the above, So Cal Edison has repeatedly rejected Zenernet's application for permission to operate the new solar panels. It's now December and we still do not have SCE approval.

Signed the contract with Zenernet in the first week of May and still do not have a working system over 5 months later. The sales experience was positive with the salesperson being very responsive when creating my proposal. But that was the only positive experience. Since then, it has been nothing but delays, poor communication, screwups and apathy from Zenernet. In choosing Zenernet you are then dealing with two separate companies Zenernet and whatever installer they choose. The first indication was a letter I received from the installer notifying me that they could place a lien against my property if they were not paid by Zenernet. The installer, Ecobright, was also located > 300 miles away from my home, so everything took a long time to schedule. The inspection took weeks to get scheduled after the install. On the first attempt the inspection failed due to incorrect electrical work. The 2nd inspection was scheduled for two weeks later. The inspector showed up, but the installer was nowhere to be found. On the third attempt the inspection failed yet again because the plans were wrong. That was ~2 weeks ago, and the 4th attempt has yet to be scheduled. It behooves me why a company that is in the Solar business can’t seem to get things right. When emailing the project coordinator and the installer I often received no responses. The project coordinator was replaced with someone who at least returns emails however nothing has improved. At one point in this saga, I was told by the installer that the installation was complete. This was confirmed by the project coordinator. The installer then showed up two weeks later unannounced to finish the installation which was news to me. I had to cancel my plans so the installer could get into my house. Zenernet was completely clueless of the status of what was going on with the installation. If you want to have a painless experience with Solar, I suggest you look elsewhere. In fact, I have friends who started Solar contracts with other companies such as Sunrun later than I did. Their systems have already been in operation for several weeks. I sit waiting with an expensive boat anchor on my roof with nothing but excuses from Zenernet. I am sure I will get a stock “I am sorry you had a bad experience” message from Zenernet in response to this. But that is what I would expect. Words but no actions.

Hi Craig,

We sincerely apologize for the poor installation process, particularly our lack of communication at key stages in your installation and inspection. While the solar installation process is complex and can take time, we should have done a better job keeping you in the loop.

Since you brought this issue to our attention, we've worked diligently to get your project to the finish line and we've maintained frequent communication. We've also reimbursed you for delays in the project timeline. We appreciate your patience and willingness to work with us to get your project back on track.

We regret the inconvenience and frustration we caused and we look forward to empowering your system and finishing this process on a better note.

Robert was great. He went over all the items and explained everything. I’m sure I’ll have more questions in a future. On 1.18.2021, I wrote that review and I would write it again because Zenernet does not deserve an employee like Robert. Today 2.2.2022 I still don't have my solar system up and I am very disappointed, because I really wanted for this new company, new concept to work. It could still work but they need to hire some good people that understand, solar systems, understand what customer service is about, know and/or willing to learn city/county/state rules, regulations and incentive programs and have sense of urgency and feel responsible to get things done on a timely manner. Zenerenet has none of that and its unfortunate. Today I will be terminating my contract with Zenernet. If they are scary bad now when they are working to get paid, I don't want to see them when there are issues and they need to fix it for free.

Can I give half a star? And only because of the integrity of their local partner installation company? Just like so many relationships, it started out beautifully. The sales team was very responsive and communicative and had only my best interests at heart. Then, things changed. I signed my contract in September and paid the bulk of the fees when I approved the design in mid-October. This was in advance of the required date of payment, but I was encouraged to send the money so they could be sure to have the equipment purchased and at the ready to avoid any delays since they knew I wanted the system installed before the end of 2020 . By the week before Thanksgiving, I STILL didn't have a permit. Instead, for six weeks, I heard nothing until I finally started calling the city, utility and the local installer to get updates. I discovered that contrary to what Zenernet had told me, there was no permit application pending for my property and my utility had no idea that I was going solar. The installer was able to shed some light and have been so incredible about helping me, but my faith in Zenernet is lost. At first, they said that my design did not meet fire code, and therefore, could not get approved by their engineers (the first team) and THAT'S why there was no permit submitted. Later, I was told they changed firms because of issues like mine and so my plans had to be redesigned. Finally, I learned that the issue wasn't fire code (since the code they mentioned did not apply in my city), but rather, an issue of New England weather (snow, ice) and the impact the weight of it might have on the roof/panels. After my complaints, they sent me a new design with days, but it included panels on a roof surface which I know gets significant less sunlight and which no other design in my neighborhood has utilized. They are supposed to be the experts and are supposed to deliver a design that delivers optimal results, but at this point, they seem to be simply trying to get this done and off their desk (without regard to value or optimization). Conveniently, their contract does not include a system performance guarantee so they have no obligation to deliver the best design. No one at Zenernet has been in touch with me since the "re-design" and I have no idea of the current status. It seems unlikely that my system will be installed and connected by the end of the year. The *very least* they could do would be to offer me a discount to offset the loss of FTC. I would never recommend Zenernet to anyone considering going solar. Frankly, the only positive thing going for them is their local installer, Skyline. I wish I had just worked with them directly. `

Hi Sherry - we're sorry to hear about your poor installation experience and apologize for the lack of clear communication on our part. There have been a number of complicating factors in your project, which contributed to the delay in obtaining permits and necessitated an upgrade of your circuit breaker (for which we covered the cost). We appreciate your patience and willingness to continue to work with us as we see your project forward to installation. If we are unable to complete your installation before the end of the year, we will of course reimburse you for the stepdown of the ITC, as we've promised to do for all homeowners with projects currently underway (more details at the link below). Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention - we will work hard to deliver a much better experience moving forward.

As you read reviews and count stars, keep in mind that many are for the sales proposal and few include actual installation of a system. I am stuck in between. Michael M did a fantastic job with the sales proposal. It was very collaborative, informative, and transparent. Zenernet works with Sunlight Financial who got me a 20 year fixed rate that sealed the deal because the total monthly cost of a fully owned system to produce 100% of my usage was 65% of my monthly electricity bill. Another major factor was that of five companies I contacted for a proposal only two responded in a ten day search. I signed the contract in August of 2020 hoping to get it in operation by year's end. Permits can take 5 weeks so that gave them three months to accomplish a single day of labor. Zenernet subcontracts installations. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but in my experience they were an ineffective middle man unable to accomplish the task of installation. I worked with five different project coordinators, they are were pleasant well-intentioned people who failed to keep track of the details of the project which lead to mistakes, delays, and sometimes just weeks waiting for answers to simple questions regarding the installation specifics and potential scheduling. The first step is a site inspection which changed the location of four panels to a location that would collect sunlight. Those changes were not incorporated into the plans presented a week later, so then they have to be re-drawn which took another 10 days. I asked for specifics on where components such as the disconnect, A/C combiner, and new main service panel would be placed, and how that would be connected to my existing service panel. They don't know, you have to talk to an engineer or installer and that will be a subcontractor working for a different company so it is just weeks of telephone tag and no specific answers. Then there were several installation dates pushed or just missed with no explanation. The equipment was scheduled to be delivered but no one was tracking it so the installer called the morning of installation and had to be told the panels were't delivered. The panels showed up unannounced five days later, again no one was tracking it. We finally got installers and panels onsite in early December, they put the panels on my roof, but didn't coordinate with PG&E to have the power shut off to install the new main service panel so they are literally just sitting there and not wired to the house. Then they informed me and Sunlight Financial that the installation was complete and just needed inspection to be operational despite the fact that they had not completed the physical installation of the system or all the elements of the plan submitted to the city. The system can't be turned on until it passes inspection, but it can't pass inspection until the wiring has been completed. In as loud of voice as I could muster, I asked them to not misinform Sunlight Financial that the installation was complete. After more obsequious apologies, including one from the Chief Operating Officer, I have now received my first bill for the system. The installation delays have been frustrating, but now they have their money and I am paying for a system that isn't even plugged in. I am now literally paying for their incompetence each month and do not have a working system.

Hello - we're sorry we couldn't help you go solar. Unfortunately, in some cases, shading can make it impossible to generate enough power to make solar worthwhile on a particular property. Stay Away from Zenernet! Despite starting the process of having solar installed at my home in August of last year, they are not finished and will not reply to emails, text or phone calls. I have now obtained a lawyer for myself but I wanted to warn prospective customers of the faulty installation, the unresponsive project managers and terrible customer service actually delivered by Zenernet.

Started the solar process in April 2021. It’s now January 2022, and still no solar. This company is terrible at following through, and recently they stopped communicating altogether. They even sent an email stating their shortcomings, stating a new project manager would be in tough within a few days. That was 3 weeks ago. This company cannot even get me a system installed, let alone deal with any other issues or warranty. I caution anyone thing of using Zenernet. They make it sound good and then fail, leaving you hanging.

I signed a contract with Zenernet in July. It has not been a good experience. I paid 21k down and promised it would be installed 3 months. Ya right, what a joke that was. It took them 3 months to get my permits approved because their planning department couldn't seem to get it right. It's now December and Edison hasn’t approved them to start installing panels yet I was told today the installation may begin sometime in January . Buyer beware!!!!

Hi Jerry - we apologize for the frustration and delays with your project. Worst solar company I’ve ever dealt with. If I could do it all over again I would NOT go with Zenernet. 3 months after install the system is still not producing any solar energy so now I’m paying my standard electric bill plus the financing for the solar which is ridiculous. I told them time after time to just come back and take the solar off since nothing was getting solved and it was costing me double but they kept saying they’ll get it fixed and working in no time. Still nothing!

Horrible customer service. Was being pressured into the battery and was threatened there would be additional fees and delay in install and in fact there were not. Then install team put holes in my ceiling because they were not told that my house does not have an attic in living room. Nobody called me, I have called yesterday and all morning today and still I am being treated like this isn’t a big deal, must happen all the time.

Hello Lisa - we're sorry to see your concerns here and regret the rockiness in the installation process. As previously noted, we were able to complete the panel installation as scheduled because it was covered by the original permit. The minor cosmetic damage from the installation was covered under warranty and we made arrangements to repair as soon as it was brought to our attention. As of now the holes have been repaired and will be painted over as soon as we're able to order matching paint. We appreciate your cooperation and patience and look forward to completing your installation process on a positive note.

Zenernet "lost" my paperwork and project for over three weeks making me almost miss the deadline to submit paperwork for the tax breaks. The roofer was horrid and needed to come back 4 times to fix basic items, lied to me about the building code violations and the roof leaked twice needing repairs. Zenernet is merely a program management company out of state sub-contracting with local companies -- I should have called them instead. Overall, poorly run, poorly executed and only the installers saved the day.

This company is a joke. They will always point on others as the result of delay. Lack of ownership of the process, no customer service at all, they are running their business like they have no control of any aspect of the installation process. You will have more chance to win big in lottery than achieve any goal with them. They are selling nothing, but they asking for big money. Zero planning or target goals.
