Zillow has good and bad I think, it's according if you are a buyer or seller. A home we had was very large (6000 sq feet) and zillow low balled our equity only because no other house was like it in the area. It was custom made. People who see that want to believe the appraisal and it's not right. On the other hand, if your a buyer as written above, it helps you out. I notified zillow and to no avail was it helpful at all to change my home value. I do like getting on zillow and scoping out what's on there, but just remember home value is not really always correct.

Very easy to search properties, like the fact you can narrow your search criteria making it useful. Value of homes aren't the most accurate (Zillow pulls information from other sites, but often has incorrect and outdated information), but great for a ballpark estimate.

The best feature I like when using Zillow, is the map feature. I can search using the map and don't need to open another browser tab to check the address on a map. I am not sure if other sites have this feature, but Zillow is the first one I noticed using it, so I've stuck with them.

Zillow is how I found the place I am renting now. It's easy to add things you're looking for to narrow down your search, and they also send you new listings that correspond to what you're looking for. They do have an application fee to run a background/credit check though, but that's probably hard to avoid.

Great website, easy to understand and use. Value of homes aren't the most accurate, but great for a ballpark estimate. Zillow's estimates are hard to decipher, especially when an estimate for a delapidated home in an OK neighborhood in Montgomery County MD lists for more than $500K when other larger and remodeled homes around it are estimated at nearly $100K less. Same with under-estimates that are based on some arcane and not well-defined criteria that does not make sense. Why does Zillow even offer estimates when they are so far off of what the real value is, including actual home sales in the area?
