The company provides free shipping on orders over $49 and 30% off a customers' first AutoShip order.

Autoship

Chewy’s Autoship lets customers schedule regular deliveries of pet supplies. All customers have to do to set up Autoship is add items to their cart, proceed to checkout, and select “Yes” to Autoship and then their preferred schedule. Customers will receive 30% off their first Autoship order and every order after that will save an extra 5-10% on select brands for all of their future Autoship orders. Autoship even applies to prescription medications for a pet; as long as there is a valid prescription or remaining refills. There is no membership fee for Autoship and members can cancel at any time.

Wide Variety of Pet Products

Chewy has made it easy for pet lovers and their furry friends to find the pet care and pet products they need. Chewy's prices on the site are also reasonably low, although, there are more expensive items, but are generally on the larger items or the items in bulk. Chewy.com offers a wide variety of quality products, including dry, wet and canned food, treats, bowls, health and wellness, toys, cleaning, potty training (cat litter, potty pads, etc.), grooming, beds, and prescription pet food. So pet owners should have no problem finding grain-free dog treats or a holistic kitty litter. When selected, each category can be narrowed further by selecting a more specific sub-category, brands, life stage, breed, or material. This makes finding specific pet supplies fairly easy and browsing can be a more productive experience as well.

Whether you're looking for dog treats, a variety pack of cat food, or a hamster wheel, Chewy is most likely to have it.

Pet Pharmacy

Chewy knows that pet parents are busy and don't' always have time to visit the vet to pick up prescriptions. Instead, pet owners can order their pet's medication and have them delivered straight to their door.

Ordering pet meds is a simple and easy process. The company has a Chewy Rx team member contact your vet to approve any online medications. You can also add meds to your Autoship account.

24/7 Customer Service

One of the best things about Chewy is its customer service. The company puts its customers' needs first and Chewy shows this through its shipping rates, speed, and return policy.

Chewy's shipping costs are notable in the online pet store industry. Any orders on Chewy that are over $49 receive free one to two-day shipping. Any orders that are under $49 are given a flat shipping rate of $4.95. This low flat shipping rate is extremely helpful for customers who order heavy items such as dog food.

Chewy.com is known to have fast shipping. If the order is placed before 4 P.M., it will be shipped that same day and most customers report getting their products within 1-2 days of placing an order.

The company is also notorious for sending out handwritten notes with humourous pet puns, birthday cards, and some customers have even received a painting of their pet along with their order.

The Chewy Return Policy

Chewy’s return policy is also admirable. Offering a 100% satisfaction guarantee on ALL products sold. The company asks that the product(s) are unopened and in the original packaging it was shipped in, and Chewy will give a full refund with no other questions asked for 365 days after the original purchase. Chewy will also refund the shipping price that was paid.

Pet owners should be aware that Chewy does not accept returns or exchanges on prescription medications. However, the company will do an exchange if the product is incorrect or damaged. Chewy may issue a refund but this is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Today’s Deals

Pet owners looking for deals on their favorite brands for treats and pet foods should take a look at Chewy’s daily deals. Customers don't need a promo code or coupon code. Customers can just add the item to their shopping cart. For a pet parent looking for specific brands or products that are a little more expensive, this is a great feature as new products are added daily.

Compared to other pet goods suppliers, Chewy offers similar priced items. You will find similar prices on Amazon and PetSmart.

Pet Blog

Chewy has a pet blog that gives pet parents advice on numerous pet-related topics. Pet lovers and owners can find out what’s really in their pups dog food, whether to feed a pet dry or wet food, what vitamins and minerals to give a sick pet, what factors into a pet adoption or how to calm an anxious cat, whether or not you should buy grain-free dog food, and more. Having a blog on the site shows how much Chewy really knows about pets and how owners can provide the best supplies and pet care. Pet owners can read about pet nutrition, health, training, and behavior.

Non-Profit Support

Chewy supports several non-profit organizations such as Shelter Friends, All About Animals Rescue, Shelter Animals Advocates, and others.  Chewy provides food and other items to animals in these shelters.

Gift Guide

Whether you are looking for a Halloween costume for your dog or a Christmas gift for your cat, you can find all the best gift recommendations with Chewy's gift guide. The gift guide includes ideas for all the major holidays as well as guides for what to buy your new pet. As a pet owner, you won't have to run to the store last minute before the holidays. Simply, add the gift into your Autoship order for fast and easy delivery.

Chewy App

Ordering pet food just got one step easier. Chewy released an app for android and IOS users to quickly browse, select, and purchase pet supplies. The app includes all the best features of the website including daily deals and Autoship. Autoship connects seamlessly to the app to help you find your favorite pet essentials and control delivery schedule.

The app also allows you to connect with the Chewy team of experts. Any time of day, call or email customer support directly from your smartphone.

The Bad

  • Shipping Limitations
  • Industry Experience
  • No Physical Locations

Shipping Limitations

While most of what Chewy.com does is at a high-quality level, there were a few things that the company lacks. There is no shipping available outside of the contiguous United States.

Chewy does not ship to Hawaii, Alaska, any other U.S. territories, Canada, or any other country.

Industry Experience

Compared to other companies in the pet supply/pet retailer industry Chewy has been around for a relatively short time.

No Physical Locations

Chewy is exclusively based online. While this is convenient for many, some pet owners enjoy taking their dog to the pet store to find which treat he or she likes best. However, since Chewy is owned by PetSmart, you should be able to find similar products at PetSmart stores.

gavel

The Bottom Line

Cat owners, dog owners, and exotic pet parents should definitely consider using Chewy as their go-to online pet store.

The company offers more quality products than most local pet stores — customers can find top brands for dogs, cats, horses, small animals, and reptiles. Chewy.com is one of the leading online retailers for various pet products and supplies (pet owners can even find prescription pet food).

Chewy is probably best known for their low shipping fees, fast delivery times, and lenient refund policy. The company return policy is extremely generous by giving a 100% satisfaction guarantee for life on all products sold. Although, Chewy does not currently ship any of its products outside the contiguous U.S.

The daily deals are also a great feature as it requires no Chewy coupon code or promo codes and all orders over $49 have free one to two-day shipping.  Whether customers are looking for top brand dog food or an online retailer that sells equine supplies, Chewy is a one-stop shop with an extensive amount of products for the pet supply industry.

My two dogs take apoquel, at a combined cost of $150+ every month by autoship. About a year ago, I caught Chewy lying about getting approval from the vet. When I called them on it, they admitted their error and gave me a credit. Now they've done it again. My vet sent me a copy of the email approval they sent last week. Maybe they have new customer service policies or management, but now they insist that they didn't get approval until today (when I told them I will hold while they call the vet). And when I asked them to overnight the meds (for my extremely itchy dogs), they say the best they can do is 1-2 day shipping. UNBELIEVABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE.

I placed my order for heartworm prevention for two of my dogs on July 13. They assured me that they would contact my vet for authorization. I immediately notify my vet after placing my Chewy order so that they know to expect a request. After a few days without an update, I call Chewy’s customer service for the second time. They tell me that they haven’t heard back from my vet. So I call my vet. My vet states that they have not received anything from Chewy, whether it be via email, fax, or call. My vet also firmly states that they only accept calls about authorizations during certain business hours — I prominently relay this information to Chewy. They reassure me yet again that they will have their pharmacy CALL the vet. It’s now July 21, a week since I’ve placed my order when Chewy sends me an email about my order soon to be canceled due to lack of Rx authorization. I frantically call their customer service as well as my vet to see what the hold up is, especially since my dogs are going unprotected from heartworms due to their delay! The vet verifies that they still haven’t received a call. Chewy then changes their story to say that they didn’t call my vet. Instead, Chewy sent a request to my vet via an online PORTAL. I specifically stated to them that my vet will only accept phone call authorization requests. Moreover, the request over the Portal is deemed useless as my vet doesn’t have access to that since their change in business ownership. I call Chewy for the countless time and spoke to a rude male customer service representative from Dallas that said to me, “I’m surprised Chewy hadn’t canceled your order sooner as this request for authorization has carried on longer than it should have. Your order will be canceled, and that’s just what’s going to happen since there’s no authorization. You can get your vet to call us.” Excuse yourself. Not only did I get reassurance from previous representatives that they would make a phone call to request authorization, but also, it is Chewy’s/their pharmacy’s job to reach out to the clinic/doctor. Not only did they not place phone calls as claimed, but they refused to call the vet after repeated reminders in order to get the authorization. Had I known the process would be a lengthy waste of my time receiving the run around, and that they wouldn’t actually do phone call requests for authorizations, then I would have gone somewhere else instead of having my dogs be at risk without protection.

I ordered 6 times. 6 times I called customer service to complain that orders were not delivered to apartment door. Every single order was left on the front stoop of the main building or in the main foyer. EVERY single time. I explained I was sending deliveries to my older mom and sister that was recovering form surgery. I can not believe after talking to supervisors every time, and having them put on delivery instructions, "Leave at door", Fed ex couldn't be bothered. I understand that Fed Ex is another company but they are paid well by Chewy to deliver packages to doors. I kept asking the supervisors to have management talk to Fed ex. They promised they would and call me back... ( cue crickets). I stopped using Chewy. I use Petco & Walmart and they are able to get packages to the door.

Disappointed is an understatement & Ive never wrote a review but seriously if you NEED something save yourself the hassle ... I placed an order on the 19th and the packages just shipped on the 24th- 25th. When I placed the order it stated anything over $100 order would ship 1-2 days. Then I received the email saying 7-10. That caused me to have to contact customer service to cancel part of my order since I just got a puppy and needed the crate. Well I kept everything else on the order. The date I was given for delivery was 4/26 by 9pm for two of three packages & 4/27 for the third one. Well here we are on the 26th & now they can’t even give me a date when I should expect the packages. The labels weren’t even created until 10pm on 4/25. I needed these things, they are essential for my animals. For a first time experience I’m not impressed and can’t say I will deal with them again.

Chewy did not deliver on time and it took them over a week in which I asked 3 separate times where my order was to realize that it had gotten "lost". I talked to several customer service representatives and they just proceeded to tell me that it would be here shortly "in the next 1-2 days" and time after time it was wrong. On their website, they say that any order over $50 is 1-2 day shipping so I would expect that to be correct yet it is anything but that. After this poor experience, I will no longer be a chewy consumer. During this week I had to run out to the store and buy more things such as dog food that I had completely run out of waiting around for chewy.

In a day and age where customer experience/service are becoming increasingly important to differentiate the competition, the lack of a positive CX encounter by even just one consumer can have a lasting impact on the business. Sadly,my experience with Chewy.com falls into the less than desirable CX experience. When a special diet for one of my pets was prescribed by my veterinarian, we chose Chewy.com over the veterinarian's pharmacy for one simple reason - Chewy offered free prescription treats with each of the foods ordered. Price was the same, both offered free shipping. Despite two out of two previous poor experiences with Chewy.com, we decided to give them another chance. When my product arrived today very poorly packaged with a bag of dry food torn open and the kibble looking suspiciously moldy/tainted and minus the free-with-purchase advertised items, one customer service representative single-handedly assured I will never shop Chewy.com again. Alexander, the customer service representative I spoke with, was quite flippant about the problems experienced with this shipment. His lack of empathy, poor customer service skills, lack of a resolution of any sort to the problems I experienced and blatant lack of care for the customer or the pets they serve has cemented my decision that Chewy.com does not deserve a fourth chance and I promptly canceled future autoships of the products I will need for the lifetime of my pet. My first shipment from Chewy.com was also poorly packaged with a torn open bag of pet food. The representative I spoke with during that call replaced my order (chance #2), but that package was also poorly packaged and while the bag of dry food was not torn this time, the canned food I also ordered arrived crushed, dented, and damaged. This latest chance (chance #3) only highlighted the ongoing packaging problems and lack of customer care demonstrated repeatedly by this company. Beware of shopping Chewy.com - there is a great and obvious void in customer service and packaging is quite poor. All this being said, would anyone like a bag of very very expensive prescription diet food that was previously opened and whose kibble looks suspiciously moldy/tainted? I have a bag to dispose of while I order from my veterinarian.

I placed a rather large order I do every month, for my animals. I have no issue with ordering dry goods if the order is placed by 9am it arrives at my door next day. Different story with the pharmacy, My dog is diabetic so he is on insulin I thought I would try to order from chewy after 4 days the insulin is still stating "preparing for shipment" So I contact customer service and they tell me it was approved by my Vet clinic it should ship out in the next couple of days, I told them that was acceptable, and I will call you back. I call my Vet clinic and ask them when did they approved the script with chewy, they told me the 4 days ago. I call chewy back and explain again with the exception of what my Vet Clinic told me, now she tells me that the vet clinic approved it today and it will ship now in the next 3 days. which would be a Sunday at the latest, so who is lying my Vet Clinic or Chewy? I explain to her I just got off the phone with my Vet and they approved it 4 days ago I never got a response back. Then she tells me that the pharmacy items are shipped out of different state that is the reason for the delay in shipping, I believe they are using a second party vendor and once the order is transferred, no telling how long it will take So with my experience I wouldn't use the pharmacy department with Chewy a $7.00 savings is not worth it.

Chewy isn’t cat friendly. They are biased towards dogs and their target audience is dog owners. They don’t tailor their email responses to their audience. They assume everyone is a dog owner/lover, using boiler plate language like “give us a bark if you need anything else” and “have a tail wagging great day” even if you contact them regarding a cat product. They have numerous tv commercials, almost entirely of dogs. In the rare occurrence there is a cat, it’s in the background, hardly noticeable. In one commercial, a spokeswoman talks about not having to lug heavy cat litter from the store, yet there isn’t a single cat in the commercial—only dogs! I contacted their corporate office and told them given cats outnumber dogs in pet ownership, I would think they would want to target cat owners as well, but instead they project themselves as being biased towards dogs by excluding cats from their commercials. The fact they never responded is very telling. They are selective in which negative reviews they post. They only post negative reviews that are inane (ex. product stinks, pet didn’t like it). They wouldn’t post my review which provided constructive criticism and scientific evidence—product caused diarrhea and vomiting even after ruling out other possible causes—because they didn’t want it to impact their bottom line—sales. There are plenty of pet retailers who love cats and who appreciate the business and feedback of their owners. And Petco and Entirely Pets will match other retailers’ prices.

Chewys autoship program is a joke! I had placed an order that happened to be on sale, to be shipped on Jan 11th. When I hadn’t received it by the 13th, I decided to give them a call. They informed me that an item I had ordered was on back order and that they were holding the entire order until all items were available. I informed him that you need to let someone know by email as I was about to fun out of food. He then offered to send the order immediately but without honoring the sale price from my original order. This place is a joke and I will never order from them again! Be careful if you auto ship as you may not receive your items when you are expecting them.

NOT RELIABLE. NOT DEPENDABLE. We order prescription food that is very important to my old and ailing German Shepherd that I love like a child. the order was supposed to be delivered on the 5th but got delayed to the 6th. I could handle that since I had enough for the 6th. Waited all day only to have to call them to find out they won't deliver it until the 9th now, though they never told me. It is now 9 pm and the vet is closed until Monday so my dog will either go hungry or have to eat food that has caused her to get giants sores on her body resulting in external bleeding and hair loss. this is the exchange. I'm obviously very upset. Kiairia S.: Hi, my name is Kiairia S., how may I help you? Barbie: My dog's food didin't arrive today as promised Barbie: She is on a perscription diet and will now not be able to eat until Dec 9th Barbie: That is NOT acceptable to me Barbie: I don't understand why it was in california and then went back to Arizona Barbie: is there anything that you can do to get her food here by tomorrow? Kiairia S.: I am so sorry about the delay you are experiencing. At this time we do not have a way to expedite this order but I am more than happy to provide a partial refund for any local purchase needed until the order arrives. Barbie: i can't find a store locally that carries it Barbie: Can you please help me understand how this happened and why my dogs health is now being put at risk? Barbie: How can I trust you again? Barbie: This is the message I received yesterday and the message that I trusted: Your package is still on the way, but it's running late. Rest assured, your goodies are expected to arrive on December 6, 2019, and you'll be notified if there are any other delays. No action is needed from you at this time. Barbie: I'm not sure why you cannot overnight something, even if it a smaller bag that only gets up through until the 9th Kiairia S.: Things are a little backed up on our and our shippers sides due to a busy holiday season and inclement weather impacting our warehouses and delivery drivers. The expected delivery date for your package was the 6th but we were unable to complete it and will do so again on the next available delivery day. Kiairia S.: We do not have an expedite service at this time. Barbie: I will ensure my Vet knows to no longer refer your company and will write a review on as many sites as possible. This is not acceptable. These are living beings that are part of our family and service needs to be reliable. I don't appreciate your responses that are treating this like it is unimportant. Barbie: Please provide a partial refund this order and do whatever you can to ensure it arrives Monday. You have left me in a TERRIBLE situation. If you had notified me when my vet was open today, I could have gotten some, but now you have left me with no option but to feed my dog food that will harm her Barbie: my reviews will include a copy of this exchange Kiairia S.: We know that your pets are family and we are trying to get every package out as quickly as possible. We are more than happy to provide the funds to you so KC can still have the formula they need. Barbie: but we have nowhere to get it since you didn't notify my during business hours today. Barbie: that is not ok Barbie: You sent me an email yesterday apologizing for the delay and saying it would arrive today. You sent me nothing today to tell that wasn't going to happen

So Chewy apparently had a server crash (not admitted by Chewy to me, but to my vet) and lost a significant amount of data/communications. Then this happens: I ordered some prescription food for my doggo and it went dead silent and was notified that the order will be canceled. I called Chewy and was asked to talk to my vet for not approving (they didn't want to call). So I called vet and was told it was approved a long time ago and an email was sent. I called Chewy and was told it was not there and was asked to talk to my vet. So I did indeed, and asked my vet to fax AND email AND CC me. The email was sent the fax was sent. I called Chewy to see if they got it and was told 'No, but you need to reach out to your vet.' I called my vet and then they told me they will email it the 3rd time. Once again I called Chewy and was told they don't have it and I need to email my vet. At this point I asked the rep that I'm done going in circles, doing the same thing over and over to get the same result (and be continued to do it again). I asked that they resolve this critical communication failure directly with my vet so they can fulfill their duty as a reliable distributor. And lo and behold, I was asked to email my vet. Not so efficient, is it? I humbly suggest these mantras for their management, as their current system is designed rather to cultivate frustration and failure, instead of problem-solving, which is what was needed for my case and others as well, I assume. #1 Customers do not and should not do your job for you. I spent hours, called my vet 6 times and Chewy 7 times for their system failure. Chewy invest heavily into customer service and you often don't have to wait more than one 'ring' to get your call answered. This is their greatest asset as well as their strategy of surviving (and dominating) the fierce battle of pet e-commerce market. But it's all for nothing if the customers end up working for them as well due to their lack of efficiency. #2 The communications between the rep and the pharmacy is OK, but nowhere near ideal. Fax goes to pharmacy, the emails to the vets can come from both pharmacy/customer rep, phone calls are passed between those two parties and the record system is managed by the reps, but the pharmacy cannot be reached by clients....etc. What is this? If I can't talk to the pharmacist, who talks to my vet, how am I supposed to even solve your issue you've created even if I wanted to? #3 The data the supervisors see is NOT streamlined with the data from the customer rep. How was my problem 'resolved'? I talked to the supervisor and was told 'oh hey, we do have the approval form!' immediately after I was told that the approval form has not reached the server after 3 emails and 1 fax over multiple days. #4 Reps can't do anything besides making/canceling orders and sending simple emails and that is NOT good. Reps are supposed to be problem solvers. I don't expect an insurance agent-esque track/investigate/file/report full shebang but I'd love to be offered more solutions than doing the work for them because they are not authorized to do so. I hope it helps, Chewy. -A customer and a concerned shareholder

I’ve been a chewy customer for six years now. I have always loved their prices. Tonight, I went online to order my cat food, and discovered a six dollar escalation in price. From 13.40 to 19.40.... in one month. I called to ask about this. The explanation I received was… We base our prices according to what the competition is doing. So because Amazon, and some other online pet stores are selling this cat food for $19.40, chewy has decided in its infinite wisdom that it’s going to sell the cat food for the same price. So riddle me this Batman; what’s to keep me from moving to Amazon? I’m a prime member… And they have next day delivery. What is going to keep me at Chewy? This is a question that I have an answer for. ....... nothing. Chewy also uses Fed ex; it’s the only delivery service available in my area. Fed ex is too lazy to walk up three flights of stairs to deliver my goods. Often times they don’t deliver them at all. Sometimes the bags are broken when they deliver them and there’s cat litter or cat food all over the box. Amazon has their own delivery service, and they have no problems walking things to my door. I once loved Chewie.com, I’ve sent a lot of friends there. But if your reason for escalating my cat food in price by 6.00 is “because everyone else is doing it,” then I am gone! You’ve lost me. “By-by!”

I ordered a medication based on Chewy's 1-2 day delivery. On the second day, I was informed by Customer Service that "2 days is just a goal" and that 2 days might actually mean 3 days or 4 days or longer!....HUH? When I explained to Customer Service that I could not find the medication locally and was very much counting on the medication delivery in 2 days, she (and then her supervisor) both suggested I just try again to find it locally if it was so important. Neither representative seemed to understand how I could be upset about a 2 day delivery actually taking more than 2 days. I ended up with a $2,000 reef aquarium die-off because of Chewy's delivery misrepresentation. When it comes to Chewy, DO NOT believe that they will deliver on their delivery promises!

Chewy might have good prices but their delievery service sucks. 3 days so far that my order was to be delievered but delievery problems prevented the delievery. 1st was I live in an apt complex but the address was for the rental office so the package doesn’t get stolen or left in the elements. The next day I heard I lived in a gated community but I don’t. (However the same delievery co is used by Staples and for all 3 of their orders I heard this exact reason why the package couldn’t be delievered. Today I got we don’t know why they haven’t delievered the order as I have given the address 3xs after initial problem, clarified it’s the rental office, not gated and that the office was not closed at 12:21. Until they change delievery cos don’t count on getting your order. Had to stop dealing with Staples because of this delievery co. Will be doing the same with Chewy.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. This company and its customer service representatives are deplorable. Their statement of pets being their passion is the absolute fakest thing I have heard from a company. My father purchased a good amount of rawhides, treats, bully strips, and various toys for his dog and my sweet Australian shepherd puppy who almost died from septic arthritis so they could be well stocked while he is traveling abroad and what did Chewy do? Flag the order and make it an absolute pain to get it "authorized". They have continued to be heartless and not understanding I have EVERYTHING to verify the card information and more, but because my name isn't on the card and they cannot contact my father in EUROPE they cancelled the order. I hope this website and company gets a serious reboot in their customer service personnel and policies or fizzle out. I will NEVER use chewy ever again. I have never been met with such horrible customer service, they are far from kind and understanding and only serve to make the process of spoiling your animals a pain.

I am a veterinary tech and I thought this would be an awesome site to get the best for my babies at a price I could afford. As a single working mother of 4, I live paycheck to paycheck. I bought some things for my cat and thought that was going to be the ONLY charge. WOW was I wrong. Apparently, the stuff I ordered came from 3 seperate warehouses, which you are not inforned before hitting the purchase button, that each warehouse will put an ADDITIONAL hold on the funds in your account to total the amount of goods purchased from that particular warehouse. Weird right?? I called them when I first noticed an additional charge, after ALREADY paying the total balance at the time of purchase. I was told this is how rhe system works. I asked where I could find that explained on their site, and go figure- "I don't know ma'am" is all I got. I was assured the money would be applied back to my bank THAT NIGHT And no more charges would accrue. WRONG AGAIN!! I get off work and stop at the gas station across the street as I work 30 minutes from my house and my gas light just came on and I needed to get my daughter picked up from school in an hour. My card is DECLINED!! I Look at my account activity because I know the gas I was attempting to purchase was less than what was in my account before going to bed....now keep in mind this isn't even including the additional money they had on hold STILL AFTER ASSURING ME IT WOULD BE BACK IN MY ACCT THAT DAY. Low and behold...THERE IS ANOTHER ADDITIONAL CHARGE FROM CHEWY, from a DIFFERENT warehouse. I immediately call and request to speak to a manager. After being on hold for 20 minutes, she finally gets on to tell me THERE IS NOTHING SHE CAN DO!?!?! I explain to her that I need that money to not only get home but also to pick up my 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL. Again...she says there is nothing she can do but the money will be available in 2 to 4 business days!?!? So AM I SUPPOSED TO STAY AT WORK AND MY DAUGHTER STAY AT SCHOOL FOR 2 TO 4 BUSINESS DAYS???? I did NOT get to my daughter UNTIL 9 PM!!!!! 5 hours after school got out. That is how LONG IT TOOK ME TO BE ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE TO BORROW THE MONEY! Then I was told I would get a full refund...haha yea right. STILL WAITING ON THAT TOO! Save yourself the headache and just order from petco or petsmart .com where you ONLY SPEND WHAT YOU AGREE TO BY PRESSING THE CHECK OUT BUTTON! I've never been so upset at a company. I'm usually pretty laid back when it comes to stuff because I deal with people in every kind of situation daily...but come on. DO THE HONEST THING ONLY CHARGE PEOPLE FOR WHAT THEY PURCHASE....WITHOUT ADDITIONAL HOLDS! I will be telling ALL of my clients, coworkers, and Doctors about this experuence as a lesson as TO WHY THEY SHOULD STAY AWAY!!!

I have been a loyal Chewy customer for the last few years. I LOVED THIS COMPANY!!! They were top notch and I have written glowing reviews about Chewy's product selection, excellent pricing, prompt deliveries at the promised time, and wonderful customer service. Sadly, since PetSmart bought the company it is a downhill slide. My last two Autoships have been late. I approved and submitted my most recent Autoship on September 26. Part of the order was delivered on the 28th as promised. Great! The remainder of the order will not be delivered until Oct. 2. What? I used to be able to "set my watch" by my Chewy deliveries. No longer! So sad. After I receive the remainder of my most recent Autoship, I will be terminating my relationship with Chewy. Amazon and the local pet store, here I come. I cannot tell you how disappointing I find it. I guess all good things do come to an end once a big fish buys out a smaller fish. I was really, really fond of that small fish.

August 24: Ordered critical meds for my pets August 29: Still have not received anything. Called. Chewy rep says "Meds are shipped today" Sept 2: Still nothing. Called. Chewy rep says "Meds not shipped; Still waiting for approval from your vet" It's Labor Day weekend so that will not happen until Sept.4 Sept 4: Checked with vet and here is the real history: --------------------------------- Aug. 24: Chewy received meds order over the weekend Aug. 26: Chewy called in the meds over the phone Vet was clear they do not do VERBAL prescriptions [that should have been obvious!] Aug. 27 AM: Chewy sent a faxed request for prescriptions; Vet approved and faxed back Aug. 27 PM: Chewy said they did not receive fax; Vet faxed again prescription a 2nd time [Saw proof of fax so Chewy did get the faxed prescription 2x on Aug.27] >> but nothing happened. Chewy does not ship. So: Aug. 29, when I called: I'm told "meds are shipped" but they are not! Sept 2:, when I called: "No, meds are not shipped; waiting for approved prescription from Vet" That's when I cancelled my order with Chewy.com and ordered at VetRxDirect which process my pets meds orders in less than 1 day. In the mean time I scramble to bring cat to Emergency Vet to get emergency meds to tie me over during Labor Day weekend before receiving shipment from VetRxDirect. I blame Chewy and consider they should reimburse urgent pet care I had to pay because of their incompetence DON'T BUY MEDS AT CHEWY.COM THEY WILL LET YOU PETS DIE BEFORE SHIPPING THE ORDERED MEDS. Buy instead at VetRxDirect which are more efficient and care about ensuring critical meds get to your pets fast.

Chewy contacted incorrect vet for prescription even though correct vet contact information was provided on multiple occasions. Upon providing correct vet contact information for second time, I was told order would be approved and filled promptly. Nonetheless Chewy gave up on filling order. Chewy placed order on hold, pending receipt of mailed prescription. But Chewy never informed me they were awaiting receipt of a mailed prescription. It was not until a second call to customer service that I was was informed of the hold -- one week after placing order for medication that must be provided to pet in a timely routine manner. TERRIBLE COMPANY!

Things started out gangbusters with Chewy. They have pretty good prices and I can usually get what I order within two days. But their packaging is so poor! I can almost guarantee that my items will arrive crushed, broken, and ruined because they improperly package *everything* for shipping. They've put small packages of medication into a box with a 35-pound bucket of cat litter and the meds were crushed and ruined; they'll put a case of canned cat food in with litter and the cans will be crushed, dented, and busted open; they'll cram several cases of cat food into the same box and they arrive ruined; I could go on. They use ZERO padding or packaging materials, and their boxes are so thin and cheap that they always (without fail) arrive broken open (there's never more than one small strip of tape on the box regardless of the weight of the contents). I have called each time and they've replaced the ruined items, but then I have to wait another week to get them! I've also been told by customer service that I have to call them after placing an order to request the use of padding or other packing materials. Why should I have to do that?!??!! And because clearly many people are having the same problems, how soon until they have to raise prices because they are replacing most of what they send? Other problems I've encountered: They will not refund a price difference if a price goes down and you paid twice as much just a day before; they've started having stocking problems and are frequently out of what I need; despite appearances of lots of different brands, they don't usually have the canned cat food I'm looking for; and since being purchased by the awful PetSmart, they now add sales tax, which may be required by law but was a big reason I shopped there since that's an extra 10.25%. They've really gone downhill in the last year.

I just wrote Chewy.com a couple of days ago to tell them I will no longer be using their services and to please close my account. I had 100% negative experiences, over at least a six-month period, with their shipping practices due to the fact I have multiple pets, plus I maintain many bird feeders, which requires me to buy in bulk several times a month. (They may be excellent for someone with only one or two pets — but not for a bulk-shopper.) The company seems to have no significant variety in sizes of boxes, so, items either tumble around on top of each other or they’re simply thrown into the box/es haphazardly by untrained shipping clerks — or automated equipment? I’ve received boxes filled with cat litter from broken plastic jugs, boxes with birdseed scatted thoughout from broken bags, and the final injustice of a box in which a fragile mid-sized birdseed feeder was packed in without any padding or protective box and arrived crushed into multiple pieces underneath the partial ends of two cases of 24-count cans of cat food. In addition, I had to throw out more crushed cans of cat food than I care to remember — but I was really grossed out with my May 2018 shipment of one certain brand of cat food I’d ordered (I order two separate brands for particular cats and to last the entire month) because, when I opened it, one can in the top layer of a clear- plastic-covered case of a 24-count cat food container had been so battered that the juices from that one can on top had seeped across and down several other cans in the case. Why did I continue with them so long? I liked the convenience of the home delivery, and I liked their site. I considered the lost cans of cat food a trade-off for the convenience. It was, however, when I received my final order of four orders for May, opened that last box of the order, and found that the bird feeder I needed so much to replace another was laying under the edges of two cases of cat food, literally smashed into panels because no one at Chewy cared enough to protect it with shipping paper or the safety of another box, I knew for certain that I could never trust Chewy to ship anything safely to me.

I had an autoship set up with Chewy.com I usually set my autoship to $50 per order. I checked my credit card balance and Chewy had taken out $78.00. This is theft, I set up autoship and authorized $50 to be taken out, not $78. How are they able to hike the price of a single item by $21.00 over night? (original item price $10.49, raised to $31.49) I literally checked my autoship a few days prior before it was time to be billed and all the prices were the same at that point. When items are put into your shopping cart, those prices should be honored. Not to mention they started adding a tax, my tax total was $6.50. So my total theft amount was $27.50. I am a single widowed mother of a 5 year old autistic child and life is not easy. I do not think Chewy cares a thing about their customers and what kind of back grounds they come from. Only the numbers. Buyers beware of this companies greed. Aaron at the the customer service center said he would get the items returned to the warehouse while in transit yesterday and issue a refund. No money coming back my way yet AND I got an email today saying my order is shipped out today with a tracking number. Was not even given an apology, not offered to get the rest of my needed items, just: " I will get your order returned to us and money refunded." So the other items I need for my pets, I obviously won't be receiving. I found all my original items on Amazon for the same price or less, and that 31.49 item for 10.29.

"COCKROACHES AND ANTS" I used to like Chewy a lot. Then they sent me a box that was full of German cockroaches. After that two different orders had crushed and leaking cans of food. The final straw was their delivery service FEDEX. The driver started to leave packages in the wet dirt, in an ant bed. I complained to FedEx and they promised it wouldn't happen again, but the next order was in the mud and ants again. Chewy uses FedEx, who classifies their drives as independent contractors. FedEx exploits their drivers denying them insurance, benefits, and charges them for their routs. They also don't supervise their drivers well. Both Chewy and FedEx spend large amounts of their money training customer service people to sound compassionate instead of actually fixing their problems. It all works well for a customer until they have a real problem.

Well it's happened. The PetSmart influence has ruined Chewy. So sad. We have three Great Danes and so far this year we have spent over $1,000 in dog food from Chewy.com. I'm done. I have been buying food from Chewy with absolutely no problems until after PetSmart bought them out. Last month the price of our dog food increased by $15 a bag. I have ordered though their autoship program for the past year without a problem and now suddenly the price has drastically increased and I was not notified. I complained, they refunded the $30 difference for the two bags but was told that it was too bad and that they don't need to notify their customers of price increases on the autoship program. So basically they can charge whatever they want and you'll only notice the difference in your bank account. So this month I chose a cheaper variety of our brand and changed our autoship. Normally our bags ship early Friday and we receive them on Saturday. I was notified late Friday that this food was out of stock, please choose another. So I did. I sent them a screen shot of the next more expensive food. It shipped on Saturday, so now with the holiday we will not receive it until at least Wednesday. Then I see the the price per bag has increased by $5 over night. I've been over-charged and inconvenienced for the last time Chewy. I will take my money elsewhere and I will recommend that everyone else does the same.

I normally have pretty good experiences with Chewy, but my latest experience may cost my dog and/or myself our lives and that really sucks to have to die because of poor processing on Chewy's part. Long story short, I was recently injured and need to have knee surgery which will sideline me for several weeks to as much as two months, during which time I won't be able to lift anything heavy like bags or cases of dog food. My dog is suffering from Stage 2 Kidney Disease, and I need to switch her to a new food, and I have limited income especially while out with this knee injury, so I needed to economically stock up on dog food prior to my surgery. I placed an order on a Wednesday - even called before ordering to make sure that if I ordered on Wednesday I could receive my order by Saturday, as I'm having my surgery on Monday. Because the food is prescription, Chewy had to call my vet, which the sales person promised she would do - incidentally the web site didn't have me enter any prescription or vet info when I placed the order, which I was told would happen when I placed the order online - wrong. The sales person said they called someone, but my vets checked the next day (after I saw my order still hadn't been processed) and they hadn't received any call from them. I called Chewy again and they called the vet on Thursday (and promised again that I'd receive the order by Saturday) and got immediate approval for the food. Thursday I don't see any movement at all in the order status, so I call again, and again. Each time I'm promised it's going to be shipped in time, but nothing is changing in the processing. Finally I tell them to cancel the order and the impacts that may result - like my dog progressing to Stage 3 Kidney disease or dying because I can't lift anything heavy for up to two months - meaning no prescription dog food for her - or me risking my own health and blood clots in my leg to drive two hours to get the food from the vet, because that's how far away they are (an hour each way), and half a tank's gas expense because of the distance, which I can't afford - let alone all the time wasted on the phone with them, and now driving a couple of hours and trying to schlep 40 pounds of dog food into and out of my car with a busted knee and messed up leg. They escalated things to a manager, but wasted more of my time and theirs on more mess and nonsense. They said they'd ship the food overnight and it would get to me by Saturday, but it didn't leave until Friday night and they shipped it for WEEKDAY delivery. Unbelievable lies and/or incompetence - why waste my time and yours promising Saturday delivery, when you actually SENT it for Weekday delivery Chewy!?!?!?!?! I'm now faced with deciding whether to let my dog's health decline by not having the prescription food for a couple of months, or risk my own health by driving 2+ hours to pick up food from the vet's. Thanks for playing roulette with both our lives Chewy (NOT!) After thousands of dollars of spend over the years, we're done with you - maybe permanently anyways if one of us doesn't make it through this traumatic time. And don't think we don't know that your stuff gets shipped through Amazon and other parties - we won't be ordering anything through them that could be shipped from Chewy either. If you're okay with questionable delivery times and extended follow up times for prescription medicine (as in YOU will have to call them and get on them to follow up on prescription processing) Chewy is probably okay. If you need something within any timeframe though, and your pet's or your own life is hanging in the balance, don't rely on Chewy for anything other than extended waste of your time, and promises they don't keep. Incidentally I've had other delivery problems with Chewy - just not as major - not receiving complete orders, and receiving someone else's order has been the main thing - I have a dog, but received cat litter and an invoice for someone else's cat supplies in the past.

Well, that's not what your ad says...... I'm not happy. You really need to put that into your 1 to 2 days "Free" shipping. So, Us(consumers) will know about the workings of Big Business. Will I be ordering again.....? Not if I have to talk to Mr. Smiling in Your Face and don't give a darn person..PAUL

Then came pandemic, only received part Rest backordered. I stopped again. Just decided to try again, 1-3 day delivery cannot be trusted. It's taking nine days for a delivery. Worst customer service ever. I placed an order with them and then sent them an email with my tax exempt. I just got off the phone with their customer service and the individual that I spoke to (Dillion) could have cared less that that I told him that I would start buying at stores because Chewy was no longer delivering in a timely manner. When in inquired on when it would be shipped there wa s no ETA as they were working on the cyber monday shipments. I had to buy other food for my puppies as we were about to run out and I can't simply wait till the shipment may or may not arrive.
