Duolingo is easy and quick to use everyday. They have a bunch of languages. I probably could have gotten more out of the app if I had more motivation. But for a free and add free tool, it is pretty good!

Duolingo is fun way to learn a new language. Each of the lessons feels like a game! You’ll definitely learn the basics of the language but might need to get a different resource for more advanced topics and phrases

Duolingo has taught me to be completely fluent in Spanish. All of my friends who take Spanish class in school have a much easier time getting A's with Duolingo as their tutor.

Duolingo starts at the level I am, level 0. Really good at sending reminders and encouragement. Progressing at my own pace, and reviewing what I've done.

Language learning apps are tricky. Will you learn rules, words, and structure for your new language? Yes. Will you learn how to speak fluently? Likely not. Duolingo has successfully gamified language learning, certainly, and to mildly successful results.

Duolingo is great. I took a basic French course, and was able to get by while in France. But, there's really nothing like immersing yourself in the language to really learn it.

I love how many languages they offer on here. I also love how they give you the option to practice when you are not able to listen or speak at that time.

Duolingo has a great interface and plenty of languages, but I have found other methods of language learning to be more effective. Duolingo is, however, one of the most convenient and maybe the easiest software to use, which encourages consistency (which I think beats less consistent, though more effective, methods every time).

Duolingo is helpful for learning basics about a language. It’s better to be able to speak the language with someone but if that’s not available duolingo is great.

Always nice to brush up on my street french before I hit Paris. Duolingo gives you just enough to that with a clean interface (but please get rid of the spam).

I used to use Duolingo before, but now that they added in the paid function it just isn't worth it. I use Rosetta Stone instead and paid the upfront 200$, but got so much more out of it. Duolingo is okay, but I don't think you can truly learn to speak a language through it.

I tried to learn spanish on this app and it never told me how to pronounce the words, therefore I always got the speaking sections wrong and sounded confusing when I spoke. It also doesn't teach conjugation when it would be most helpful, I didn't learn it on the app and eventually gave up, if I had learned conjugation it would have been helpful

Both of my daughters use Duolingo in conjunction with being enrolled in Spanish dual language courses at school. My 12 year old daughter has had better success with the program. I find it can be frustrating for my 7 year old daughter as it’s a little too advanced for her.

Duolingo is not an effective way to learn a new language. It may be free, but you won't get much from this app and will just waste time. They teach you random sentences which gets boring because it doesn't feel like you are making progress. I guess it can just be used to learn some vocabulary, but it is not a truly effective method of learning a language like other programs and methods.

Duolingo is great for those starting out in a new language, but I don't consider it the best source. I'm learning French at school and learning it on Duolingo. I've found that many words taught on Duolingo are either incorrect or improperly used. It's great if you're planning a trip, but not if you plan on actually learning to speak the language.
