The most recent service by CHW was excellent. I had a noisy ceiling fan in a bathroom. It was serviced quickly and the job was great. That said, I've had other experiences with CHW that were less than satisfying. The most glaring was a hot water heater replacement. The job was done well, however the service provider made me pay $586 in CASH to "bring the plumbing up to code." That's bad enough but I didn't yet receive my $250 allowance for code revisions from CHW which I'm entitled to for paying for the "Ultra" contract.

I tried to file my claim on line to avoid a long wait on the phone. The system did not recognize my email address. As I have some hearing loss, (VA rated 20%), I had some trouble understanding the young lady that was taking my claims information. The phone connection appeared to be faulty. I may have a different opinion (better or worse) after the service call is complete.

The technician showed up on time as scheduled and he's very knowledgible of giving tips to avoid any future issues. What I don't like about the company only opens after 9am and can only leave a voicemail response and that's the reason why I only rated 4 and could have been perfect.

Response time is usually 2-3 days for them to assign your claim to an independent repair company, which means you could get a good one or a bad one, I have had both. Not sure how they vet the repair companies they use. Read the fine print, if they dont want to fix your unit or device, they will "offer" you a "TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT" amount to replace the unit. This "offer" is a Lowes gift card at approximately 35% of the actual cost it will take for you to replace the unit because, "this is the price we have negotiated with a national supplier for a similar unit if we were to buy 100 of them". First, I am not buying 100 units and second they wont provide information on who their "Supplier" is or what is the "Similar" unit that was quoted.

Until this experience I would have rated CHW a 5. However, the first technican that came could have and should have done the work. He told my husband to do it, and told him the wrong thing to buy. Then, the 2nd tech never called, never showed, nothing. And CHW never sent me any message about date change or that a new tech had been assigned. The third tech was wonderful, going above and beyond to fix the dishwasher. He also leveled it, and checked to be sure it was totally fixed. He is coming back to fix the plumbing in my bathroom. Very polite, wore a mask, very professional.

First year as a customer loved the price that I was offered, moving forward my first claim was our /Washing Machine I had to wait almost 7 days before someone came out to see about fixing it turned out had to be replaced they offered a Lowe’s gift card for a certain amount in which was too low to replace a front loader washer when I ask to speak to a manager or supervisor, only through appointments instead of resolving the issues that same day not good, I tried to communicate with the manager I suppose-ably had an appointment to talk regarding the offer she never returned the call or answered emails. I finally was able to speak with someone she could not find my appointment date with the manager however she offered to help me resolve issue with the offer that was made to replace the washing machine to say the least I was never allowed to speak and that’s all that was gonna be offered take it or leave it don’t care your problem not mine that’s how I felt!!! I responded I don’t want a Lowe’s gift card will then we’ll send a check no what about direct deposit no we don’t do that!!! That’s the reason I gave them a two Starr

Overall, I lost money by using your service. Once my hot water tank had a leak. When I called, I was told that it was covered by the warranty but It turned out I had to pay the initial $60.00 and I had to pay fix it by myself. I changed the hot water tank which cost me a lot of money. After talking to your people, I was given $60.00 credit. Now that house had a fire so I cannot use the warrenty anymore. Now I moved to anohter house of mine which I also bought warrenty from your company. the microwave was broken. I requested another service. It was arranged by some compoany to come in to fix it. However, the techinician did not show up and no one has called me. I was lucky enough to get someone on the phone from your company this time when I called. I asked if I could use the credit I have from the other house, I was told NO. I want to see if this time a technician is going to show up on the appointment day which is Oct. 1st. Hopefully the problem of my microwave is covered. and fixed. Amy X

I like that appts are made within 24 hrs. What I dislike is that the repairmen should be licensed in their field. I was sent a repairman from RC Construction, who showed up w/2 other guys, and none were licensed as electricians.

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT CHOICE HOME WARRANTY WOULD NOT REPAIR MY AIR HANDLER OR AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. THEY SAID IT HAD RUST. DON'T MOST AGING UNITS GET RUST? I NEED TO FULLY REPLACE IT. I PURCHASED THIS HOME WARRANTY TO COVER MY REPLACEMENT COSTS OR AT LEAST HELP WITH THEM WHEN A UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHY HAVE A HOME WARRANTY SERVICE IF THEY WALK AWAY FROM WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE? MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN.

The technician was great the customer service person he talked to was clueless on what he was looking at, he kept acting like he didn't know what he was looking at in the pictures sent to him. He said my faucet was clogged and it wasn't it had a pin size hole in it causing it to leak. I pay monthly payments and I can't get a simple faucet fixed or replaced stop acting like my money is yours.

I felt like I was pressured into purchasing this policy. It also seemed like, if I wanted this policy, I needed to take it on your terms and not mine. The fact that I am recovering from surgery and just asked for two days to discuss this with my wife, and was denied, just added stress to this experience. Buying this warranty felt like buying a used car at the local car lot.

We were given 2 appointments for service and both times we had to find out from the service companies that the appointment was scheduled by Choice incorrectly. The first appointment was scheduled with a company who doesn't even have a fridge tech on staff. The second appointment was scheduled with a company who says they told Choice during the phone call that they would not be able to come out. Had we not reached out to the service companies to confirm the appt times sent out by Choice, we literally would have been at home waiting TWICE for absolutely nothing because no one was coming out. The customer service workers I have spoken to have been mostly nice, and after two failed attempts they did get a company out to make the repair, who was an absolutely fantastic tech. These are the only factors giving this review 2 stars instead of 1. We will not be renewing our warranty through Choice at the end of the year.

Choice Home Warranty came with our new home purchase and was not selected by us. Half the issues with the home do not appear to be covered. Home has a main house and casita but nothing in the casita appears to be covered (such as the AC unit). First service was to have locks rekeyed in the main house. Contractor had no id and could not even provide a receipt with a company letterhead (and he did not seem to know the company name). Left us questioning just what service providers Choice contracts with.

The technician was good, but I never received a receipt and a copy of what was done and would need to be done. I am not happy with Choice Warranty when I found out you would not pay to do work on a weekend. The temperature had been in the 90s and I had to wait 5 days for someone to come out. What would have happened if there had been a person with a serious medical condition? That kind of service is not what I was paying for? What if it had been winter and the furnace went out? Would you have let me freeze to death in my house because you did not want to pay someone to come out on the weekend to fix the furnace?

Claim #129190347 I was scheduled for a review of this claim on 8/12 at 7:30 A.M. MST. I received several reminders prior to the meeting but never got a call from the claim specialists. I was able to get their phone number and ext. from your customer services rep., placed several calls to them with no response. The reason for turning down my claim makes no sense and I would like an explanation. There nothing amazing about your service, I would appreciate a call from someone regarding my claim. I will never be foolish enough to purchase a home warranty in the future fromn Choice or any other company as they always find a way to turn down a claim. Easy to get to a representative. Sometimes the time from when the service request is raised to when the tech schedules the appointment is too long. I believe this has to do with the fact it is all automated. Sometimes a call to the tech will yield a sooner visit.
