Love the teledoc. If you have regular doctors that you enjoy, I would make sure you confirm they take oscar before switching, as quite a number don't. For how little my husband and I need medical attention, our premiums seem outrageous to me, personally. Otherwise, they've been easy and pleasant.

I love the app and being able to text a doctor. Have also had the receive a callback and both have worked great. Both times felt like they took the time and they called in RX for me. Great experience.

I went for my "free" annual checkup in-network and had a blood table done and my bill is still $6,188.34 two months later. There are 3 general practitioners in Austin and 9 total in Central Texas (within 2 hours of Austin) that are available in-network. This company is a compete joke playing a dangerous game with people's lives. I would hate to be in a serious situation where I'm getting denied for what most other providers cover. Positives: cheap premiums (though denied when you use it), their app is easy to use, HSA available. Oscar may be good for something catastrophic but think twice before you dare use it unless you're on your deathbed.

Let Oscar's robotic template responses to real people's reviews here be your guide, then pick ANY other insurance company. "Oh, sorry you're frustrated..." - as in, Oscar doesn't think their customers' experiences of their piss-poor insurance are legitimate. You'll *read* their same cut/paste responses about how "sorry that you're frustrated" Oscar is. But after two years with Oscar in a major metropolis (LA), I promise it's getting worse to actually get care through Oscar. "...our Curated Network..." - That means you'll wait a month to see a doctor, if you're lucky. Plan on waiting and waiting and waiting to actually see a doctor. By the way, a couple of the providers in their carefully "curated network" are actually deceased. Pretty disgraceful. Oscar's cheerful fonts, app, and cutesy language doesn't cut it when your health and life are concerned. Their robo-replies here are very telling about how "corporate" and robotic and incompetent Oscar actually is. STAY AWAY!

Pros: Lowest Price for any metal tier, same benefits as other metal-tiered plans as other competitors, and if you like gimmicky presentation with decent technology, then Oscar is good for you. Their customer service team is amazing! They are very helpful and pleasant. The Bad: Very limited medical access because they keep throwing this curated network to manage cost. The problem is the Curated Network chosen will decide which local providers they want to contract to be part of their network. So, if you can't see many providers in your area, blame the curated network that Oscar has chosen, indirectly blaming Oscar because they fail to address this effectively. Great idea, but horrible execution.

Oscar offers a pretty thin network. In TVs and cellphones, thin is good. In medical care, not so much. It means that it's hard to find a good doctor to treat your condition. Or hospital. Virtually no major New York hospitals accept this insurance except Mount Sinai, and almost none of my Mount Sinai doctors accept it either. None of the good doctors I have gone to in the past accept this insurance. Instead, I have been to some truly horrible practices and clinics . In one case, over three visits, I never saw an actual doctor, just a nurse practitioner. I have also seen good doctors who are part of terrible, factory-like practices that make it impossible from them to do their jobs well since they only have five minutes with each patient. I have been misdiagnosed, non-diagnosed, etc. Oscar is also extremely stingy with reimbursements for lab work, physical therapy etc. even for preventive or covered services. They always find ways not to pay for certain things. They focus a lot of PR on their app, their "wellness center" in Brooklyn, and other meaningless stuff. On the key issue—medical treatment—they are terrible. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is that they don't require referrals for you to see doctors in their crappy network. This offers some freedom to pick and choose so you are not completely at the mercy of a primary care provider. But your choices may not be great.

PRO: - Doctor call option to discuss if you should go to urgent care - Easy to find who IS in Network (see cons though...) - Easy Messaging System CON: - Doctors in network are not doctors that are popular and suggested - Only can get a breast pump through ONE company - the company has changed and I had to notify them. They then sent me another company that only provides minimal options and they didn't answer the phone. - Will wait 24 hours with their chat option.

I liked the intuitive design of Oscar's website and app, but their computer systems clearly have some kinks to work out. For a few months, their site and app showed that I owed $0 in premium payments. It even showed my statements for previous and current months as being paid in full. Then I got an email one day warning me that if I did not pay my premium, my coverage would be canceled. Immediately upon receiving this email, I called customer service to figure out what was wrong. I was told that an error with their system had caused the website to inaccurately display that I was paid in full, and that I actually still owed premium payments. So I agreed to pay my entire outstanding balance over the phone that day, and then I set the website to auto-withdraw from my bank so that this would not happen again. Two weeks later in December 2018, I received a letter in the mail stating that my coverage had been canceled due to delinquent non-payment. It stated that I hadn't paid during the grace period of December 2018 to February 2019, and my coverage had been canceled as of November 30. Obviously, these dates made no sense. I also received at the same time a welcome packet and new ID cards. Yet whenever I logged into the site at this point, it said I no longer had a plan through Oscar. I called customer service again and found out that even though this whole thing was Oscar's error, they could not reinstate my coverage because it had been apparently canceled by the Federal Health Market. I then had to call the Federal Health Market in order to figure out that when Oscar had tried to reinstate my plan the first time, the Market did not let them because the Market's records still erroneously showed that I had failed to make payments. Now I'm waiting to hear back from the Market as they have escalated my case to be investigated. I've been assured by both them and Oscar that this process will finish within the next 30 days and then my coverage will be reinstated. I'm hoping that will happen. Nevertheless, it is still bizarre that a healthcare company's computer system could be so broken as to cancel someone's coverage for no reason and send out notices that are so bizarre and contradictory; and then have no way of easily reinstating the plan even when the error was on their end. I had to do an awful lot of investigation on my own to even figure out what had gone wrong. So I'm currently uninsured, and I have to pay out of pocket for prescriptions until my coverage is reinstated. Oscar has offered to reimburse these costs once my plan is back, which I hope will happen. And they say I'll be able to have my doctor bill claims reprocessed at that point. Even still, what would I have done if I couldn't afford to pay for the prescriptions out of pocket during this period? Hopefully once this is remedied, I'll have better experience with Oscar, but so far it's been a major confusing headache.

I've had Oscar for 3 years. It's great EXCEPT for ONE major flaw: The provider network is much too small. It can be difficult to find doctors that accept Oscar. Perhaps in smaller communities with a smaller pool of doctors, it is easier, but in the NYC area, the ratio of Oscar doctors to everyone else seems tiny. One note about people who suspect fake positive reviews in October: Perhaps there are more reviews in October because that is when everyone starts shopping for new insurance. I know I found this site because of that....

I was pleased with them for the first few years but recently I’m finding they are difficult to get information about price estimates and coverage. I get sent in circles by everyone involved: doctor, lab, and Oscar. I do like getting paid for step goals, doctor on call has been helpful, and my doctors are in their network for the most part. I also appreciate their technology, the app is convenient and having immediate access to a concierge is pretty great. I just wish they could be more transparent about cost and coverages for specific procedures and tests.

Although between my husband and I we pay over $25,000 a year Oscar they denied the anesthesia I needed for a nerve block. I ended up paying $300 out of pocket to cover the anesthesia.I appealed the case and I was still denied with Evicore the company that decides what procedures are and aren't covered. I also appealed with Oscar and I have never heard back. I think it's ridiculous to pay this amount of money and not have anesthesia paid for. Nerve blocks are not painless procedures. I don't see the point of having insurance if it will not cover what is medically necessary.

Anyone purchasing OSCAR insurance....be warned. OSCAR does not mean Cleveland Clinic. If you believe that any doctor you choose at the Cleveland Clinic will be covered by OSCAR you are WRONG. Also, if you go to a doctor in the OSCAR network you should know there is a good chance they will use a lab that is not in network and you will have to pay for it 100%. So if you have a colonoscopy (like my husband) make sure you say "I don't care which lab you normally use, please send my biopsy to a lab in network. Here is a list." That is YOUR responsibility according to Denton F., customer service supervisor at Oscar Insurance. If that doctor isn't contracted with an in network lab than you best ask for your biopsy sample in a to-go bag so you can get it to the right place. ALSO, if make an appointment with a doctor in an office at a Cleveland Clinic facility, don't let them offer you another doctor in the practice with whom you can get a faster appointment. They may very well be out of network. No one will tell you. You will just get the bill and have to pay 100%! There is a lot of work required on the part of members to make sure you get your medical expenses covered.

DO NOT PROVIDE PHYSICAL THERAPY anywhere acceptable close to me (Los Angeles) I switched to Oscar from Blue Shield at the beginning of the year because Blue Shield premiums skyrocketed all of a sudden (we all know why). It was the only other insurance UCLA accepted from the self-insured ones. I thought it was good that they covered UCLA and USC doctors, which are research facilities and more trustworthy. However, I did not check their physical therapy network. It is horribly slim. UCLA has offices in many parts of LA, but their physical therapists are only around Santa Monica and central LA. I have a back injury, and cannot travel far for physical therapy: I don't drive and cannot sit long in a car. The closest physical therapist they gave me was 14 miles away in Santa Monica. Driving 14 miles into Santa Monica means sitting in a car for 45-60 min because of horrible traffic. By the time I would get there I would be in too much pain to do any exercises, and it would add up quite a lot with Uber ($45 for round trip), plus 1.5 hours gone a day that I could be working. You see a physical therapist more often than a doctor who could be farther for that one time check-up. This is not acceptable. I wrote to request I see the physical therapist I've used in the past who is 1.5 miles away and who knows my issues, but was denied because they are not in their network. This is a normal price physical therapy facility which accepts every insurance out there (but Oscar who they said wouldn't even return their phone calls and forced another patient of theirs to go 70 miles away for physical therapy). Yes, I understand what "in-network" means, and I agreed to it when I signed up, but I didn't imagine their network would be so poor. I am going to follow with the state and submit and IMR report, and may end up paying out of pocket to see my local physical therapist (which is the same as not having insurance and worse than having stayed with the more expensive Blue Shield). _____________________________________ Separately, I read the comment on the blood panel. Yes, Oscar did not cover my Vitamin D and calcium panels because those were not considered preventive. This at a time when Americans are largely suffering from a Vitamin D deficiency. __________________________________ Other than this I have been happy with their bill paying and letters regarding bills sent. That part of the insurance company works well. But if they don't cover physical therapy in a way that is manageable or acceptable, it is useless to have.

My daughter was seeing a speech therapist prior to joining Oscar. We live in the big city of Austin and there is not one speech therapist with Oscar. When I contacted customer service about getting approved the the therapist she was already seeing and knew given there were no therapists in Austin, they told me I had to drive to TEMPLE (over an hour away) twice a week. I work so this is not a possibility. I would have to take off half a day everytime. So in the crucial point in development my only option is wait until Oscar can find a speech therapist in Austin to contract with or pay out of pocket to get less time with a therapist.

Oscar has paid per the terms of my insurance for some visits/procedures, but for others, refuses to pay for ridiculous reasons. With regard to one specialist, I checked the Oscar website before my visit to make sure she was listed as in-network, and her receptionist confirmed that she was in network at the time of my visit. Oscar then denied the claim, saying that the provider was out of network. I pointed the customer service rep to their website, and they eventually admitted that the provider was, in fact, in-network and the claim was covered. Now, more than three months after the visit, they are now claiming that, while the provider is in-network now, she wasn't at the time of the visit, even though their website plainly listed her as a provider at the time. With regard to the other specialist, an ophthalmologist, I also checked to make sure the provider was in-network before my visit. Oscar, however, denied coverage for the eye exam performed by the doctor on the grounds that eye exams are not covered by their policy, although this is nowhere stated in their policy. I have appealed this decision, but I have no doubt that Oscar will continue to deny coverage for whatever reason they can make up.

Before I signed up for Oscar I called and asked if my PCP was in network. I was told yes. So I switched from Cigna. Went to my PCP in February in March I get an EOB telling me the claim was denied because it was out of network. HUH. I called Oscar was told he was in network and a supervisor would call me back within 24 to 48 hours. NO CALL BACK. about 3 weeks later I call them back. Same thing in network so I'll transfer you to a supervisor. Can't supervisors are not picking up. Someone will call you back within 24 to 48 hours. I called again today. Toaday i get a supervisor. Was told the doctor was in network but the location was not. HUH. I have seen this docotor at this location for over 2 years. I called and asked if he was in network. was told yes buy both insurance company and doctors office or else I would not have switched. Now Oscar does not want to pay the 212.00 claim because he is out of network at that location. What a crock of crap. I can't wait for December and open enrollment so I can get rid of this company.

Ask the same question - get 20 different answers. As a new family to the Oscar plan, we've been beyond frustrated, confused, and frankly concerned that these people are in charge of our healthcare. The website has frequent errors despite the fact the founders claim to be from the tech industry. Virtual doctors are rarely available quickly - which is kind of the reason why you'd use a virtual doctor. Flashy graphics and buzz words to invoke high-end service fall flat when the customer is left without what they need most - reliable answers about their health insurance plan. And based on feedback we get when we hand our ID cards to doctor office staff, they're not ecstatic about this plan, either. I've got a ton of ideas on how to improve this health insurance company but have yet to find anyone at this company who cares enough to hear them.

I’m so disappointed with Oscar. We live in Fort Worth and the only imaging facility approved is a hospital, which is more expensive. I signed up with Oscar because of the low cost of insurance. Dr offices and imaging facilities are cancelling Oscar mid year leaving us with very few options to use. We can only use 1 hospital which is not one of the major hospitals. My husband went to our PCP and shortly after we get an EOB from Oscar saying that Dr is also out of network. So far not one of our prescriptions has been covered, get better prices from Good rx. I have had a terrible experience with Oscar in these 3 months since January 2022. I had my health stable for years until I switched to Oscar believing was going to be a good option. Starting this year all my medications were not covered. They forced me to switch from Walgreens to CVS and, after many calls and messages, only two out of 5 of my diabetes and cholesterol medications appeared approved with low copay, when before I haven't had to pay. And those approved were the more basic ones. For the others, the pharmacy said my copay is $617 each month. Result: I couldn't face that and now I have my sugar out of control. This for sure will cause me soon a high A1C but they don't care. I have written a lot of times and my doctor tried many ways filling out justification forms about my medication and the drugs that were fully coverage for others insurances for years, Oscar covers a part of the cost only, leaving me more than $600 on my side. And my medications are common, not those of high price. So I am running out of a cholesterol drug and 2 diabetes medication and the sugar levels out of control. Really I am frustrated with this insurance. I don't want even think how will be the insurance response if I have to get in to the hospital. In cases like this, because I'm sure I'm not alone, the Market Place should allow an inmediate plan change to avoid a health problem because of the poor insurance coverage. I hope to have a solution soon before my health condition can get deteriorated caused by this insurance's poor response.

This is my third month using Oscar and I have had an awful experience all around. I chose the Bronze-Elite plan because the prescription deductible agreement sounded like something that could help me out, as someone who uses multiple daily prescriptions for asthma and high cholesterol. Nothing crazy, very basic. The language in their plan is extremely misleading. They say it is a low-cost plan to pay out for prescriptions but i've only encountered my prescriptions increasing in price and resorting to using GoodRX coupons to be able to afford some medications. Or switching to a different brand of medication. They have denied more claims for me than approved, and did not cover prior prescriptions or have inflated the cost. Speaking to their customer service line is also a nightmare, as it seems that their workers either just hang up your call or have no idea what youre talking about. I have been told that I cannot file an appeal on a claim on my behalf and that my provider needs to initiate an appeal which is not true as stated in paperwork received. I have submitted a grievance for being billed for lab work because it was "Out-Of-Network" even though my PCP is "In-Network" and I have no ability to know where my labs will be sent. I have never had health insurance issues like this UNTIL switching to oscar. It may work for some, but not for me. I am extremely dissatisfied and urge folks to find a different health insurance provider or even go without, because the headache with Oscar is immense.

Stay away from Oscar! Worst customer service ever. I had Oscar Health Insurance through Covered California from 2020-2021. They wrongfully terminated my coverage, and I had to appeal to the California Department of Managed Healthcare to get my coverage reinstated. I have had Kaiser, Blue Shield, Aetna, Sharp, and other insurances in my 62 years of life, and I have never had problems like I have with Oscar. What's funny is they advertise themselves as a better kind of healthcare. It's all marketing. It is a get filthy-rich scheme started by three freshly minted Harvard MBA grads who have no experience in the insurance industry. Be warned.

I received disability in March 2021 for a terminal condition. I looked at marketplace online and decided to wait because I was going to go through my husband's work. I was an RN for decades with my own plan through the hospital. At tax time say Dec..I get a IRS form saying I had been with this company. Then the letters started coming from Oscar that I had not seen before. I had never paid a cent to them. I never got cards, a welcome pack like they say... Nothing. Ever. Until now. Even knowing I had been covered would have been helpful, now I'm getting bills from them after reporting fraud. This is causing issues with tax filing and many other stressors. I did NOT have this insurance. I did not sign up on line. The lawyer said it's a fraud., But when I call Oscar I'm told they will put it in their system. No they have not. I contacted the OHio Attorney General and am waiting on a reply. I just want this fixed. I did not at any time agree to this insurance. Ever. I'm eligible for Medicare in July. I am dying is that not enough? What in the world is going on. Diane Shuss

If you do not live within an area that has an Oscar Care Center - the insurance is horrible. If you try to use Virtual Care - you are asked why you do not go see a primary care and you are only allowed to see your primary care 1 time per year Screenings are supposed to be covered - for labs and some procedures - but they are not. Any procedure has to be done in a PCP office - which is not realistic because most primary care offices do not offer labs, ekgs etc ... So the documentation about services is very misleading Prescription coverage is not what it says. There are high copays for many meds and you cannot get the mail to you options if you cannot pick them up at one of the so called Oscar Virtual Centers. Oscar will take your money as a client, but not tell you that you need to live close to their Office. Unless you live in a city that offers their clinics - there is better health insurance. If Services are not available through an Oscar Network and you have to be seen for an emergent need - your claim will be denied For Covid - Oscar did not have service available at their in-network hospital - so I had to seek emergency care at an out of network system - but Oscar denied the claims. I suppose saving them a thousand dollars is more important than my health - I feel Even for catastrophic - you have to meet your 8000 deductible and then it will only pay 50 percent For a plan that cost 800 per month - I would expect more At first it seemed that Oscar had patient care and well being in mind - In my second year with then - I feel this is not so I will be canceling them I am a Nurse that has done case management. I know what is right and wrong, so no I cannot recommend them

I had Oscar Insurance for a majority of 2020 and paid a pretty penny for a premium for most of the year. I had bloodwork done by Quest at the end of 2020 and was told in writing by Oscar that my copay would be $20 which I immediately took care of. 13 months later, I'm still dealing with bills from Quest that Oscar keeps telling me they are taking care of. I reported them to the BBB and they lied and told the BBB that the matter was taken care of but I am still receiving bills from Quest. I'm still getting bills today and will soon have to take this matter to court if Oscar doesn't do their job. This is the worst insurance I've ever had and I'll take this review down once Oscar actually does their job.

I signed up for Oscar after losing my job. I would advise against it if you have any options. At first they were charging $400 a month for coverage and $200 for each insulin prescription. So $800 a month for just insurance and insulin. After a law was passed to cap insulin copays at $50 I thought I would be saving a lot of money, but Oscar breaks the law. They kept charging me and they make you file paperwork and complain and jump through hoops to hold them accountable. Eventually they started following the law and my copay went down for a while. But recently they raised the price back up. And it’s not like I can call the cops on them. So I have a lot more work to do, again. I feel like I pay way too much for them to treat me like this. Also every hospital visit I’ve had has been ridiculously expensive. It just doesn’t make sense. I pay a premium price for garbage insurance. 0/10 would not recommend to my worst enemy

I am not pleased with Oscar. I am currently on the line with customer service ( more than an hour) with someone overseas regarding my father . He is admitted into the hospital. Almost two weeks with a stroke! They have denied his care to go to a Rehab facility. I have been placed on hold more than 6 times, I have been trying to get ahold of the claims department to appeal this denial. She was not giving us the answer that we needed nor did she ever attempt to send our call over to someone in the claims department. We spoke to this individual yesterday and today. She even changed her name. Yesterday was Ethyl and today was Honey. We were placed on hold AGAIN after 1 hour + , only for her to hang up on us. I am dissatisfied with Oscar. No one is there to get an answer. Customer service is basura!
