The Good
- Many Products and Categories
- Price Comparison
- Free Shipping on Orders Over $85
Many Products and Categories
Total Discount Vitamins has a small site to shop from, although they offer many products on the site. They have 16 categories of products that include: home/specials, overstock/clearance, brands, conditions, herbs & supplements, health & beauty, children's health, women's health, men's health, sexual health, sports nutrition, gluten free, kosher vitamins, doctors vitamins, pets, and new arrivals. A few of these categories are not seen on many vitamin sites such as the gluten free and kosher vitamins. This provides the consumer with an even larger variety and would really benefit those who need the specific accommodations in their health products. Products can be viewed on the home page, as well as a side margin where different categories can be selected to view.
Price Comparison
A brand of items can be viewed with every product they offer all on one page. Different brands of the same product can also be viewed on the same page to compare the different options and prices. This side by side comparison can help the shopper get exactly what they are looking for at the price they are comfortable with. When an individual product is selected, the suggested retail price is shown, their actual price is shown, and how much is being saved is shown. This helps the shopper see exactly the type of deal they are getting by purchasing this product. A short description of the product is directly below, giving the consumer added information on what the product offers. It also shows the directions and ingredients listed for the product.
Free Shipping on Orders Over $85
Total Discount Vitamins offers free shipping on certain brands of products as well as on any purchase over $85. They accept returns on their products for 30 days after the purchase. And they have been in business for 30 years and have been "shopper approved" with 2105 reviews of five stars given on their site.
The Bad
- Information is Compact
- No Price Match
- No Loyalty Program
Information is Compact
While the website is fairly easy to navigate, it is small. The information is so compact that the type is a small font size that can be hard to distinguish. There aren't a lot of options to explore the site; very few links to anything besides products are available.
No Price Match
Total Discount Vitamins does not offer to price match any competitors and to achieve the free shipping the customer must spend much more than other sites. $85 is significantly more than the other online vitamin stores we have looked at to be awarded free shipping. The 30 day return policy is standard; however Total Discount Vitamins will only refund the shipping and handling cost if the return was from an error on their part. The consumer will also be charged a 15% restocking fee when returning items. So there won't be a full refund and they do not accept opened items.
No Loyalty Program
There is no loyalty program available for Total Discount Vitamins. An account can be made with the site but no rewards are made for shopping with their store. There also is no nutrition label shown on their products. Ingredients for the item are shown, but the label, in full, is nowhere to be seen and can leave the customers with questions about the product they are purchasing.
The Bottom Line
Total Discount Vitamins offers a large number of discounted health products. They have a small, easy to navigate site that shows multiple products to compare side by side. They do not offer a rewards program and don't have a strong return policy or free shipping rate. If you are looking to shop vitamins and other health products at a discounted rate, but not looking for a site to become involved with, Total Health Discount Vitamins would be a great option.
