BUYER BEWARE! Was a customer for nearly 3 years and had 2 claims. Call backs on first claim as tech was not qualified to make accurate diagnosis. Took a week to get this item running again in the hot summer. Second claim was a disaster. Six day waiting period for a vendor to be available. Asked for a second vendor and was then told they were 5 days out with no other vendors available. What happened to the 2 day technician on-site they brag about?? Complete run-around with this company. Stay clear!

I pay monthly fees and when I needed service to my air conditioning I had to pay $100 service fee to American Home Shield. Then when the AC technician showed up I found out that American Home Shield only covers $10 for Freon. I ended up paying $437 to get Freon in my AC. I could have got it cheaper without American Home shield. The problem was still not fixed but I have to use a company that American Home Shield sends. I am not happy with American Home Shield. It’s a waste of money.

No one speaks English as a first language. Very difficult to deal with any service rep. Have had to call over and over for status of my claim. AC broken for weeks and they won't respond to the tech they sent out. I absolutely HATE calling them. I need a stiff drink after every call. Having coverage is great but dealing with the company is infuriating.

What a joke, the Service dept takes your $75 then the local company they choose says the item is NOT COVERED. I had something in the attic, "unknown" squirrel, rat, raccoon? unsure, the Service dept was more than happy to process my $75 to put in an order even after I specifically asked if this would be covered YES YES YES....review your recorded conversation. NO TO THIS as a service....not worth a DIME!!!

Previous customer so felt ok using them again. CRIMINAL negligence on the current claim. DO NOT recomnend this company. Made AC claim for poor cooling. Technician left my system inoperable with 107 degree heat in Texas. Called to see when he would be back. It's been 3 days & AHS says they are looking into maybe doing an authorization. Refused to prioritize the repair. This is heat that kills.

I am a customer for few years now. Overall they try to scam you if they can. The contractors that they send try to make it the owner fault so the AHS would not be obligated to pay and the consumer has to pay out of pocket to fix the issue. this regular issues happens all the times in every one home and we need good and honest people to fix it. Most of the contractors are trying to blame it on misuse and made it like the AHS in not responsibility to fix it. So the whole system is one big SCAM.

Today the unqualified service worker came and improperly diagnosed my issue. He left before even seeing whether or not his recommendation would actually help the AC to cool. American Home Shield is a scam and ripoff. They take your money and do not provide a service in return! Their contractors are instructed to make the repairs fall into "uncovered" categories, leaving the financial burden to the homeowners! I had a technician come in and tell me I need 5lbs of refrigerant, which AHS doesn't cover (the cost is $125/lb). I paid him 650 and my AC went out 3 days later because he didn't diagnose the real issue. They refuse to reimburse me. I will never use AHS again.

We have this home warranty through the recent home purchase. However I wish we bought another warranty. One month ago, our washer stopped working on a Friday, but was told the earliest available service was on next Monday; then we asked fix the door bell and a wobbling ceiling fan. The service guy came next day, he damaged the door bell and reported it never worked; he also falsely reported that the ceiling fan was too high to reach and two screws were missing, therefore AHS denied our request.

Worst company to work with. You have the Phillipino's you have to deal with before you can be transferred to a US representative. 2.5 hours to get to that point. Then you have the rude representatives that are trained to hang up on you if they don't want to deal with you being upset. The always want to "buy out" your appliance with product of less quality. A flaker ice machine is not equivalent to a cube ice machine. It's a scam. Can't send grievance and there is NO customer service.

AC loosing refrigerate. Service call to Central Air gave an estimate of $450 for 6 pounds of R410A. Their cost is outrageous; 25 lbs on-line is $140. My issue with American Home Shield is that I've added refrigerant to this same unit twice in the last 2+ years. There's obviously a leak that can't be fixed. Since this can't be fixed, it should be replace via the terms of our contract.

AHS offers contract cancellation at any time, however, read the disclaimer on another page. An administration fee is attached to what they call early cancellation. This is explained in legal detail on the page paragraph L but the "anytime" cancellation policy is very misleading. It may lead you to believe it is a clean break from AHS due to dissatisfied service or reimbursement decisions on their part.

Our Central A/C system went out yesterday. The past three days has been in excess of 100* , and continuing for the next three or four days. After assessing the problem, they ordered a part, which may take three or four days to receive. The best AHS can do, offering $125 !!! That won't cover the cost for a portable A/C and maybe one night in a motel room !! They have no problem taking our money, but when it comes to the consumer..........they are a long way off!!! Of all the reviews they've had only 20% favorable reviews with 80% negative.

The first two issues we had with our brand new home, they do not cover. We called about an electrical issue, paid the $75 service fee, and scheduled an electrician. Electrician came out, was very knowledgable, but said it most likely wouldn't be covered. And no, it was not covered. So now, an issue that might have cost us originally $170-$200 to fix on our own will now end up costing us that plus the $75. Very frustrating, very unhelpful, very disappointed. WORST company I have ever worked with. Our stove has been broken since April (it's now August!) and after 5 trips to my home they have still not pushed through the paperwork to have it replaced as was recommended by two companies. We had a similar issue with another electric issue. They hire out cheap, horrible companies and there's a huge communication gap between them and AHS. I've had to spend hours on end to get anyone to do their job. If you hire this company and actually expect something fixed, you'll be putting in more hours working on resolving the issue than they ever will.

This company is a disaster! They only try to patch things over and I have had so much trouble getting them to take any action. We had a repair done, where we had to come out of pocket over $1,000, and the same exact part broke 66 days later. They refused to pay for the replacement, because it was 6 days past the 60 day warranty. Previously, it took them over 3 months to get the part and fix our broken stove. More trouble than it's worth!

Jaime Martinez Ashland, KY

30 days since hot water heater broke. Took over a week and multiple call for first company to look at heater. Two weeks later and many calls I’m told I’ll need to pay 300 dollars. Asked to see what I’m paying for in my contract and the phone rep states no access to e mail. Asked to speak to manager and sat on hold over an hour. Still no water heater. Reps are not helpful and hard to understand. I’ll be firing this company as soon as they fix the water heater. I may need to hire a lawyer to get that done...

Hi Jaime,
Your concerns are understood regarding the noncovered cost associated to have the water heater replaced. I would be glad to speak with you and reach a resolution.
