American Home Shield

Don't waste your time and money! That’s what I’m telling everyone I know concerning American Home Shield! What little good we received through AHS was completely overshadowed by how they handled our last service request. Our HVAC system wasn't cooling like it should so we put in a service request and also requested the contractor whom we are familiar with and know that the work will be done professionally and to the highest standard. This contractor had previously performed a service request we submitted for some plumbing issues and had done exceptionally well. We made this service request on 8/13/20. The company called within 1 to 2 days sent out a technician and he did a thorough inspection of our entire system. He disassembled portions of both the inside and outside units. He diagnosed that both our coil and our outside unit compressor was leaking and both units needed replacement and our ducting needed some work. We heard nothing from AHS till the beginning of September! That was when I called AHS to check on the status of our request (9/3/20). I was informed that a second opinion would be required and that another contractor was assigned. Asked who it was and when they said, I told them that I was familiar with this contractor and that the service and work of this company was not good and did not want them touching anything in my house. After a lengthy conversation, the agent informed me that my concerns had been noted and that in the end whatever was approved the first contractor would do the work. That afternoon while I was on my way out 2 technicians from the second contractor knock on my door. No call, just showed up! I went ahead and let them in to check out the HVAC. They pulled a panel off to inspect the coil and then one went out to check the outside unit. He did nothing more than connect to it to check the coolant. They said that it was good. I told them that the first tech had gone ahead and filled it while he was here. Well, they said maybe they should check again. This time I videoed them from a window. All they did for 3 minutes was stand around the unit chatting and looking down inside, shook a line that went into the house then came back inside. One made the comment that the dogs had peed on it and I said male dogs pee on everything. Fast forward to 9/22. Had not heard anything from AHS. I called again to check the status and was informed that it had been denied due to “pest damage”. After much frustration, I asked why they were going with the second opinion instead of the first and how did they know that what they said about the damage was accurate. I informed the agent that I had videoed the techs and that they had not removed anything but had just stood and talked. I also said I would be happy to send them the video showing as much. The agent could not give me a real answer so I asked to speak to someone who could. I was informed that those people don’t speak to customers only this front office group does. I said, “Well I guess were done here!” I then made contact with the first company and they in turn said that they had received notice from AHS that they were awaiting pictures from the second company. I told them that I had taken a video and they had not taken any pictures when they were here and that they had not even checked any of the ducting. This company then contacted AHS and informed them that no pictures were taken and that the second company had not even checked the ducting but had noted it was all good on their “diagnosis”. They were told that in spite of all these issues and after all this first company told them, they were going with the second opinion company and it was denied. When question why they were going with the second opinion over the first, they got no answer. This all took till 10/8/20! I’ve even tried calling twice in the last 24hrs. to cancel and have not been called back! Do yourself a favor…go with someone else.

BEWARE! AHS has great sales team. They answered their calls within 30 seconds and made unbelievable promises. However, if you have a problem the customer service wait time is 45 minutes to an hour. They will dance around the problem and denied your claims at the end. My sink clogged due to improper installation of the garbage disposal which I didn't know. They said it is not covered, but it is.... Here is their contract "CONSUMER HOME WARRANTY Certain items and events are not covered by this contract. Please refer to the exclusions, restrictions, and limitations in boldfaced type in this document. A. COVERAGE OVERVIEW 1. Coverage includes only the items stated as covered, excluding all others and is subject to the limitations, exclusions and provisions stated in this contract. Insufficient maintenance, rust, corrosion, or sediment; b. Improper installations, repairs, or modifications; c. Mismatched systems where the indoor and outdoor units I have been very patient with them. I gave them 3 months to resolve this, and AHS refused to resolve it. When I cancelled, they charged me cancellation fee. I paid so I can't get them out of my live. DO NOT SIGN UP with AHS.

I called July 22 for service for my dishwasher. They sent Sears and said parts had to be ordered. It is October 6, 2020 and still no dishwasher working, no one has called or come back. I keep calling India, I thought I was calling American Home Shield. They say they are working for American Home Shield. They are reading a very nice note to make you feel better. Four of the associates I have spoken with keep telling me that they will call Sears, the vendor, and will call me back. I have not received any calls. Today I kept asking for a manager, after 45 minutes of holding with excuses, Mr. Justin said that Ms. Krina, the manager would call me back after he hangs up. Five hours later still waiting.

They are worthless in an emergency. A water pipe broke in our house which we noticed immediately. As our bedroom was filling with water, we waited on the phone 40 minutes to speak to someone. They put in an expedited order. An hour later we received a call from a plumber who said their next available appointment was in two weeks! As were scrambling to remove files, boxes, furniture and electronics and call the county to have the water shut off, we finally got authorization to call an independent plumber. We were specifically told that the plumber must call in the order to dispatch BEFORE they started work. After TWO calls to dispatch -the first being 30 minutes and the dispatcher HUNG UP on the plumber, the second lasting over an hour going round and round asking the same questions, we were finally told that the plumber was supposed to do the work FIRST and call in the estimate. Are you kidding??? This cost $449 just in phone call time while water was spreading through our house. The plumber had to then work in the dark. The nightmare continues since when he called the dispatch back, they were closed.

Not enjoying literally 2 to 3 hour hold times to get help on phone with existing issues Not enjoying they delivered an oven but failed to take into account no one INSTALLED it Back to on hold for again 2 hours Not enjoying they sent incompetent service repair people , took three visits to get one professional not drugged out person to fix my fridge Same thing happened with Fridge literally took three different service providers to problem solve How do they vet these repair people! Plumber came out twice did not fix problem I eventually you tubed it and replaced a flapper yet plumbers could not figure it out

It has been a new experience to have very professional help. Thank you for your assistance and the kindness of the women and men working at your side...vale...MM

I have had horrible service expereince with American Home Shield (AHS). They do a very good job of taking your money, but do a horrible job of providing any service. I have been a client for three years. During that time I have had to replace the coolant in my AC unit each year. This typically cost around $400, which includes a $100 fee to AHS for initiating a service request and about $300 in coolant costs, as AHS will only cover $10 per pound of coolant. This year I had to replace coolant 3 times, in March, then in July and then in August. Each time the technician stated that the evaporating coil needed to be replaced. From 8/24 to 9/14 the unit performed poorly and on 9/14 it stopped cooling period. It is now 9/22 with little to no action from AHS or their low cost vendor (AAA All Brands Appliances, LLC of Ave Maria, FL). There has been plenty of action on my part with over 10 phone calls to each. AHS answers the phone and says they understand, appreciate my concern, etc. but nothing gets fixed. AAA does not answer the phone. I call, sit on hold for 3 minutes, time out recall, etc. This typically takes 3 calls to get some one to talk to. Turns out they have one person answering their calls, Mary. AAA did tell me that their agreement with AHS was that they respond to service requests within 24 business hours (3 days). AHS tells me they must respond within 24 consecutive hours. AAA says they must act on the request within 72 business hours (9 days). AHS says 72 consecutive hours. After three days an AAA tech did come to the house and confirmed a new coil was required. The technician 2 days to send a service report to AHS, and AHS did not follow-up until I called. I was then told the technician would order the part and let me know when to expect installation. After three days I called AHS. Not follow-up was done on their part until I called. AHS then called me back and said the part was on backorder and it would be another 7 – 10 days before the part was received, but they would not / could not tell me when installation would occur. AHS was not willing to make any attempt to find another vendor or find another source for the part. I asked to speak with the supervisor and was told I could not. I live in Florida. From 8/24 – 9/22 daytime temps have been ≤ 900. I have not had AC during that entire. Daytime temps are now down to 850 to 900 and I will not have AC for at least 10 more days. Horrible horrible service!!

I have been a customer for American Home Shield for 13 years and I have paid the company over $9,000. I have called the company for repair of fan, refrigerator (2), stove, and A/C unit 3 times over the last 13 years. As of 8.30.2020, I called to have my condenser and coils repaired. The A/C had been with the home since being built in 2002. I called about problems with the A/C in May and June of 2020 and the contractor stated the a/c needed to be replaced but he would not request a replacement because AHS would not pay enough to replace it. The A/C condenser finally went out at 8.30.2020. and today as of 9.22.2020 it is still not repaired. I called on 8.30.20 and was told it would be about a week to replace the part due to my health issues (diabetic and hypertension) and having a minor child in the home. I called again on 9.08.2020 no part was ordered but was told I would be contacted with updates. Called again on 9.12.2020 the part was ordered and waiting for the provider to pick up. Called again on 9.16.20 talked to the service provider the part was ordered through a company that did not EVEN have a contract with AHS. Called AHS they stated they would contact me with a follow-up. I asked to speak to a supervisor(realize if you go with this company YOU WILL NEVER speak to someone in the states). The supervisor never called or contacted me. Called again on 9.21.2020 no part ordered yet waiting for the purchasing department and no supervisor can talk to you. This company has not honored the agreement but has taken over $9,000 from me over 13 years and as of today took the payment for the contract out of my bank account. The temperature in Texas has hit three digits over the last three weeks and I was told it MAY be another week before I hear anything back about the replacement. If you can find another company or save the money for your own repairs DO SO. Do not go with this company, they do not honor their agreements or appreciate their customer's loyalty. I have yet to receive an update or apology from the company about the situation, but yet they want you to pay the $75.00 service fee before they provide the service. Tell all your friends RUN from this company if you are in Texas. They will take your money over the years but not respect you enough to even contact you.

What happened to AHS?! What happened to AHS?!! We have been waiting for MONTHS to have an AC replaced, an oven replaced, and a cook top repaired! We spoken with multiple agents and EVERY time I speak with them, they inform us we need to speak to purchasing. PURCHASING NEVER ANSWERS and we are on hold for HOURS!!! I asked the customer service agent if I can speak to someone at a complaints department or a person in charge and the agent said, "there is nobody who I can transfer you to." She said she would stay on the line with me until she got a hold of purchasing. She checked back with me twice while on hold with purchasing, then she never got back on the line. I have currently been on hold for 53 minutes. All we want is for someone to tell us what is going on with our service requests!! This is absolutely disgraceful!!

I am unable to rate AHS lower than 1 star for 2 reasons: 1)The scale doesn't go lower and 2)They have a slick campaign and spend lots of time with false positive reports apparently propping up their ratings. STAY AWAY, I cant emphasize enough. This company is a scam and should get 5 stars for running the best scam They find loop holes to deny, falsify responses and generally send the lowest ranked and cheapest contractors out who in turn bad mouth them but are held ransom by AHS decisions. Some examples. Leaking pipe that I ultimately had a reputable plumber fix for $300 cost me over $3000 in repairs from the original for tearing up walls and not fixing and no restitution from AHS. Replacing water heater cost me more to get no name brand then neighbors out of pocket name brand. Pool plumbing never fixed but charged service fees. The service fee you cant get out of obviously so they can fail to fix but still charge extra on top of monthly. Lastly once you are fed up and choose to cancel the contract they charge a fee to cancel. STAY FAR AWAY. There are other options and some of them have much better reputations from the service people themselves as well as real customers.

Absolute scam of a company. Completely unprofessional, and solely aimed at making it difficult to actually get a competent repair performed. Had 2 appliances "repaired" right before I got deployed overseas (I'm active duty military), and returned home to find that after a few uses they were both right back to where they were before the supposed repair. But of course because it had been more than 30 days they would only set up follow-up repair service if I paid the $75 service fee for each, again. This on top of the $575 initial fee. This company is a disgrace. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider them.

I would put 0 stars if I could. I just bought a house and found out my AC unit is too small to completely cool down the house. I've been using a window unit since I moved in a few weeks ago. I paid $75 for a service fee and when someone came out they said since it technically isn't broken, they won't do anything. The tech they sent, plus one I used before, both said we needed a 3 ton unit and the 2.5 was too small for the house. I've called AHS multiple times and get different answers each time. The last time I spoke with them, they said they couldn't make the unit bigger due to restrictions on my warranty but they could upgrade. To which my response was, "Fine, at least do that." I called them back today for an update and now they say they can't even do that. I asked to speak to a manager and she continued to say that wasn't covered. Living in Texas, summers get to 115 degrees out here so I need a working AC unit for my house. This is ridiculous. Why have a warranty company if they won't fix something that isn't working properly? Safe to say, won't be using them again.

Hot water heater went out. I live in large city. Closest plumbing contractor is 40 miles away. Took 6 days for them to come out just to 'assess' the problem. Then AHS tells me I will have to pay another $630.00 on TOP of my deductable! I HAVE to buy their accessory parts. ($100.00 for a $36.00 flex gas line...etc..) Parts came in, now have to wait another 6 days to install. No hot water for 12 days. Same issue when A/C went out during 10 consecutive 100+ degree days. Took AHS 5 days to repair A/C. Cancelling contract with AHS when up. There HAS to be a better, more efficient company!

I'm posting this AGAIN, as the original review got posted to the work company. Wish I could give negative stars. Save your money and do not buy one of these policies from AHS. I had an electrical wiring problem inside my home; so I need an electrician. First, if you do this online, they want your $100 payment before you even know if or when they can schedule an appointment. So I try to call. It's a 45 minute hold time on the phone. After about 5 minutes, it finally asked if I would like to be called back. I said 'yes'. two and half hours someone calls back. (out source call service in some other country) Still wants my credit card, before she'll schedule an electrician. I reluctantly give it. Then she says we have no electrician that can service your area. (WT?). She leaves me with no options. I call the service again. It's a hours and 20 minute wait. I say 'yes' to call ne back. At this point I want my $790 back. Six hours later a representative calls back. He insists he'll get me an electrician. Someone should call back in the next four hours. They don't. At 7:40am the next day, I get a text message saying they assigned an electrician, but I have to call them to make the appointment. (what am I paying these people for???) I call twice in a three hour period. It rolls to voice mail. I send an email. The electrician calls six hours later, says he can't come out until 'some time' next week. I'm already three days without electricity in a part of my house. This guy is saying it will be over a week. I could worn a blind fold and picked someone from the yellow pages and done better than this. I can AHS AGAIN and AGAIN - waiting time is 45 minutes. Two hours later someone calls me back. I tell her everything above, she says she'll escalate and find me another electrician. 40 MINUTES ONHOLD, I'm disconnected. No one calls back. These people are the worst of the worst. At this point, I say they're so-called service is nothing more than a scam. UPDATE - After six days, they finally conceded and canceled the policy, BUT they're only refunding $530++ of the $790 I spent. $65 for 'administrative fees' just to get any refund at all.

Over 2 wks: 2 out of 5 appointments the technician was a no show. During the last of those no-shows the tech reported that he arrived, that our AC needed follow up, even ordered a part, but the tech never arrived and never looked at the AC unit. The 3 times a technician did arrive he spent no more than 10 minutes on a call. I spent a total of 4 hrs and 15 minutes on the phone with AHS most of which was sitting on hold. The rest was being given false promises of refunds and call backs that I never received. Insurance is supposed to give you peace of mind and save you money. Having an AHS policy does not provide either.

I have had the warranty for about 10 years now and it has been a nice experience. When I call to request a service repair, within a few days they have someone out to check it.

We have been very please from AHS' quick response to our service calls, for assigning qualified local service companies to do the repair jobs and for the value of the policy.

My fridge stop cooling the freezer still works. Filed a claim on 6/17/2020 they sent out a company that I’ve never heard of he was here less then 5 min and said he didn’t have the part that he had to order it that it could be a week. A week or so later I received call from Home Shield telling new the part was on back order and should be in on 7/28/2020. Never heard anything more from them. Every time I try and call the hold time is up to 2 hours at times and when they do finally answer you can hardly understand them they are from another country. I checked my account online on 8/24/2020 and it said my appliance was replaced which is a lie. I tried calling again spent another almost 2 hours on hold to find out what’s going on the lady had no clue what time zone she was even in. I also gave up and made an appointment for Sears Repair to come out and they came out on 8/26/2020 they actually ordered the parts. On 8/26/2020 I checked my Home Shield account again and it now said a cash offer was offered to me that they couldn’t fix it. On 8/27/2020 I called again to find out what this cash offer was all about the guy I was speaking with you could hear chickens in the background and I questioned what I heard and he said he was so sorry for the chickens he wasn’t from the USA. I was transferred to someone else for another 2 hours for them to tell me I have 2 options and that they valued my fridge around $1700 and the options are a Home Depot ECard in the $1700 dollars or go out and buy one and send the receipts to them and get reimbursed by them. You only have 10 days to decide and which ever one you decide on is final you can’t change your mind. I chose the Home Depot ECard through the email I received from them and never heard another word or anything from Home Shield and that offer is expiring tomorrow 9/4/2020. I have been on hold for almost 2 1/2 hours so far and j just wanted to find out if my choice went through. Btw I’m having Sears fix the fridge and we signed up with similar insurance through Sears so I will be canceling this joke of a company if you can find anywhere online to even do that. The communication is terrible with Home Shield I’m not impressed at all worst company ever. Don’t sign up for them

The rating for plumbing should be a zero! I have had an open repair order for a replacement for a Delta bathtub faucet with a shower diverter that has been open since July 18, 2020 with no success from contacting Wiese Plumbing or American Home Shield. It has been six weeks of having to call, rant, constantly getting the runaround, and still no answers from the assigned plumber or AHS regarding resolving this problem. I finally researched where the original faucet set was purchased at Home Depot. They have discontinued it due to the poor quality of the product. My next step is to contact Delta to see if they actually still make a replacement for this shotty product. I would like a Qualified plumber to buy a different brand (Moen or Price Fisher) in a brushed nickel to replace this broken faucet. I do not want a Delta faucet to replace it! If I this this issue is not resolved by Friday, September 11, 2020, I am planning on calling a local plumbing company that I have used for years before purchasing AHS warranty to replace the defective bathtub faucet, and send the bill to AHS for reimbursement for their services and the cost of the replacement part. I would like my service fee For this call be refunded, and a discount on my next years premium with AHS. I also want Wiese Plumbing removed from any future service calls to my home. I will also be filling a complaint with the BBB re: Wiese Plumbing and their lack of timely service and poor customer service. Sincerely, Mary Christoff A Very Unhappy and Dissatisfied AHS Customer

Horrible interaction with each agent we had. We were set up with a vendor that was out of range and not on the vendor list, when there’s one within range and was use the previous year. 2 weeks hours on the phone with no air conditioning in 100 plus degree weather, since each agent insisted on using a vendor that’s not on the list anymore. Had to call at 5:30 am to get an agent within 30 minutes of calling instead of hours, to have to fight with her to listen. She and another agents insist we do their job and call vendors directly to set up appointments. If it wasn’t for the vendor that ended up doing the job and their professionalism we would have cancelled our warranty and went somewhere else. My husband and I own a franchise of Merry Maids and we know Service Master has AHS under the same umbrella and the standards we have to go by our high so I assume AHS is as well. This was below standard service we received. Very disappointed.

I would give zero stars if I could. They dont cover what is in your contract, then when you try to speak to a Supervisor they ALWAYS say they are not available but tell you a Supervisor will call you back but that never happens, then they try to double charge you on service calls you already paid for and they let you know this by e - mail that you can not respond back to because it's one of the no reply e mails so you are forced to call them at their overseas call center and wait on hold for 2 hrs. On average and then when you get through they will not answer your question out right then they hang up on you. When you ask them for their legal representatives point of contact so you can have your attorney contact them they out right deny that to you. I will never ever ever use this fraudulent company again. Oh and did I mention their website has no other number you can call but their overseas call center and they conveniently have a no class action lawsuit clause in your contract only small claims court which they give you no information when requested so you can give it to your attorney to make case for small claims court. Do yourself a favor and look at all the scams they have pulled on people on youtube.

Insane!!! I am on the phone for two weeks now waiting to have the AC company to do the AC job. I have call American Home Shield, and it takes hours of waiting on the phone, until someone from India, Philipines, Trinidad Tobago answer and once you get them on the phone, you do not understand what they are saying. I am on the phone right now, and still waiting for someone to assist me. I am senior citizen with diabetis, and without AC going on 8 days, temperature inside my house is 90 degrees, and outside 110. But no one cares. When you ask for a supervisor, it's like asking to talk to God, no one ever calls you, or reply to the emails. I am very unhappy with the customer service this company provides. I can not wait to cancel my membership. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY.

Horrible. The seller of the condo which I purchased paid for a policy with AHS. The Hot water heater started leaking several weeks after my purchase of the condo. I was charged for a tech to come out and inspect and the inspector said it had been leaking way before I purchased the condo which wasn't true. I happened to take a photo of the size of the hot water heater to record it when doing my walk through. In the photo it proved it was not leaking and also had a glimpse of my real estate agent and friend who both stated there were no leaks and the pan of the heater was dry before I purchased the condo. Even with this proof AHS refused to pay the claim. I contacted The BBB and they made AHS answer the complaint and long story short AHS finally paid me $150 less than what the hot water heater cost me so after winning my case I still ended up short.

I don't like that you can't get someone on the phone? I waited on the phone for over an hour before speaking to an agent. The agent then hung up on me because he did not want to find an AC contractor that could come to service my AC that evening. The phone staff must be understaffed. Today, 26 August 2020, I've been on hold for over 2 hours, as I wait for a customer service representative. There is no way to leave a message on their site. Clicking on their Contact us link simply shows their Phone number. Yes the one I am waiting on for over 2 hours now. I've called four or five times for AC service. They are happy to charge, but my AC is still not fixed. Currently, our AC is out. I ask where can I leave a review on their site. I am told someone will call me. No one from AHS calls me to share where I can leave a negative review. It is a shame that my ability to reach them, even when I pay monthly, is agonizing. They are not customer oriented. Let's face it... they simply want our money.

Generally the customer service with directly interacting with American Home Shield is extremely poor and time consuming. Most of the time it takes 10 days to get a contractor and this never meets my needs. My most recent one was fast but I consider this an anomaly with the long history I have with American Home Shield. At this time I would really not recommend them until they get more contractors on board who can service you much quicker

On the very first call, I paid $75 and the contractor looked at it and said he would provide us an estimate, which he did not do. Then, the company said that the problem was pre-existing before the policy was purchased. That wasn't true. The air conditioner was working until the day before I contacted American Home Shield. I cancelled my policy. The nice operator said that I should keep it for "other things" in the house that are covered. I said, "Sorry, but I don't trust this company anymore. I am not going to keep paying $75 to have someone come out and then the company says it's not covered.",

Unfortunately, this company is living on their past reputation. I have been with AHS for many, many years and always received fairly good customer service. That was in the past. Their customer service now are people who don’t speak good English and are very hard to understand, that is if you wait on hold long enough to finally speak to an agent. The vendors they use are substandard and get less than 3 star reviews on YELP. They are scammers, charging the customer for “uncovered” and “unnecessary” repairs so that they can “double-dip”. I called in because my water heater stated leaking. Since we have no hot water, this should be an “expedited” repair. The first company assigned to me was not available for an initial visit for 5 days, so I called AHS back and after more than 2 hours, I was assigned a second company that could come out within 24 hours. The technician arrived, looked at my water heater and told me it would need to be replaced. He said it would take a day to get authorization for replacement from AHS. I received an email from AHS advising me to call to authorize “non-covered” repairs and was told I needed to pay $455 for needed “modifications”. The original technician simply told us everything would be covered and they would replace our water heater with a new one. Now they are asking me to pay for modifications which are not covered under my warranty. I read the YELP reviews on this company and they are total scam artists charging every customer extra repairs which are unnecessary and uncovered. Which I tried to speak to a supervisor about my concerns I was told it would be a 4 hour wait to speak to someone. I said fine I will wait the 4 hours, and then I was told there was no one available for me to speak to. Such poor customer service from this company. They use the worst subcontractors and have no customer service. Very disappointed with AHS.

If you are cool with your ac unit breaking and having them send a (poorly reviewed) company to diagnosis the problem many days later (beyond the promised 48hrs), and then waiting an undetermined amount for them to figure out how to fix, order parts, etc this is way to go! But if you have little kids and actually need your home to be under 90 degrees then perhaps this is a giant waste of money at best and incredibly dangerous for your family. Also, definitely need to love the phone- spent a good 20hrs on hold across our 4 or 5 attempts to reach them. When reading ALL the angry feedback, this is the norm. All funnies aside, dangerous business practices- never experienced such an inept company in all my life.

Do not hire these people, please. Many reasons: 1. Long waiting time on the phone, they respond quickly when you are going to buy. 2. They would tell you: "we repair your item or replace it", (big BS, sorry for the expression); in my case, they couldn't repair my washer, they asked me to buy a new one but they only covered part of it, I bought a similar washer for $600, and they only gave me around $300's 3. The call for service is higher than other companies. Also, the monthly or yearly (premium) payment is higher. 4. In the case you wish to cancel the service, they will punish you with total cost as of cancellation date, and administrative fees (big BS, sorry for the expression)

My review is only a one because I couldn't put zero. I paid $77 per month for nothing. I put in a service call for AC and was told I would be contacted by the service company within 48 hours. After 48 hours, I received an email telling me to reach out to the service company if I had not heard from them. I sent an email to the service company and called and still received no reply. I received yet another email from American Home Shield telling me that if my system needed recharging and used an older refrigerant, Ithey would only reimburse me at $10 per pound per my contract. A short time after that, I received an email stating that they were going to deduct my deductible from my checking account for the service call, which never took place. It took waiting on the phone for over 3 hours (I got hung up on once) to get through to an "agent" only to be told that they would refund my deductible within 48 hours. I also had to use their social media channels to get their attention to the matter. Through my diligence, they never deducted the amount for the service call. I asked for my account to be canceled. I was told by the agent that they could not help me because I would have to speak to someone in the cancellation department. A few days later, I was contacted and then told that per my contract, I had to pay for a month that I wasn't even receiving service as well as a cancellation fee. So in addition to paying $77 and change for a month with no service, after subtracting the cancellation fee - I was informed that I still owed them $2 and change. Horrible customer service. I received nothing for the 5 months that I paid the $77 per month. No apologies for their lack of an initial response. Nothing.

My refrigerator compressor has stopped working twice. My fridge is over 10 years old. American Home Shield has put me through Inconvenience waiting twice for more over a week to repair my fridge. The customer service wait times run for and hour 39 mins. Once I waited 1 hour 55 minutes and the agent I got was sitting in Trinidad. She was hard of even understanding my telephone number. I told her I am working between 6am and 3pm and she scheduled the Sears technician to come to my property between 8am-12 Noon. American Home Shield was a good company approximately 8-10 years ago. Not any more unfortunately.

I think this is the 3rd time now in just a few months that our refrigerator's water dispenser stopped working. AHS has sent out contractors-- I won't even discuss the previous issues, but this time, I called the main number and could not get in contact with a human being! No matter how many times I said "representative", it just kept ignoring me (i found out about an hour after all this bulls--- that the magic word is "agent." If you say representative or anything else, it will ignore you! So I finally chose the option for someone to call me (when it finally gave that option, at least 15 minutes after holding!), and kept waiting for at least another 20 minutes. I stepped away literally for maybe 20 seconds to let my dog out of her crate, but could hear the "hold music" continuing. When I came back and looked at my phone, there was a sudden missed call from AHS! Meaning, since I had my phone on speaker and never heard any beeps, the way I would have if another call was coming through, that someone basically just called and hung up! So I cancelled the service request online and it said it will take 48 hours to get my refund. I'm still on hold and it is now 5:03 pm. I have been trying to get in contact with AHS since 3:43 pm. THIS IS A SCAM! If I ever get to talk to someone and AHS does not make this right and PROPERLY FIX MY REFRIGERATOR without charging me, I am immediately cancelling and will ensure that my best friend, who is a customer too, will cancel as well! What a terrible business! These are the kind of businesses whose executives are all going straight to hell and I cannot wait for such a day so I can rejoice!

Have AHS on 3 homes. Every single time I needed to use the company there was always a song and dance. They also replace the item that needs to be replaced with a similar item but nothing close to what you had. Its August 15th, still waiting for a faucet to get foxed since July 20th and my boiler & hot water has been out of service since August 6th and not even a date or part in some to have fixed. Thank goodness its not the dead of winter in New York or my next call would have been my home insurance company with pipes bursting all over the place. And All I get everyday is things they wanna tell you to make you believe things are getting fixed. Monday will be 11 days with no hot water, not sure if any family member would be happy

two years a go I had my AC compresser lock up and kicked the main breaker called American home shield they sent out a tec. told him that the compresser had a dead short the rest of the unit worked payse the $75 copay . the tec tills me I need a electrician and leaves week later the Electrician shows up checks the wiring till me that the AC unit has a short charges me $75 co pay and leves then the AC guy come out in a week later and checks over the unit a tills me that the compressor is bad and will need to get approver from home shield to replace it 8 weeks later compressor was replaced so it only took 10 week to replace the bad compressor that I told them was bad to start with now the blower motor is bad they sent out a tec took a week to get out to look at my unit tec. said bad motor had power to it but was locked up week later came out with new motor installed did not run .had power to it but would not run and left week late a diffrent tec. came out said no power to the fan motor needed a control board week goes by tec.shows up with new control board sent from AHS installes it and the transformer burns up and will need to order it it has bee 4 weeks now 108 deg. out side and still no AC I could never reamend American Home Shield to eny one the had to get a hold of eny to talk to and when you do they do not speek clear can not under stand them . the repair companies they use are not well trained and after checking for there review all had bad rate with BBB

This company sucks. They call you like crazy when then want you to sign up, then when there is a problem, you have to wait forever to get someone to come out.... 2 missed appointments, 2 whole afternoons wasted and still no one has shown up. No one called and said they weren't going to show up. I had to call them to find out.... which means being on hold forever waiting for someone to answer. And all of that was after I paid a full year premium and another 100 for a service call that has never happened. I am thinking of demanding both the premium and the 100 service fee back..... but of course, that means calling and being on hold forever...... Stay away from this company. You have been warned.

My refrigerator went out 16 days ago. I had to wait 3 days for the repair man to come to my house. I gave them the error code when I made the appointment with the Appliance company. Technician showed up looked at the refrigerator and said he needed to order the parts. I asked him why he didn't bring the parts since I gave them the error code. He said he has to make sure the code is correct. I asked him well was it? He said yes, but I can't order the parts until I am sure. I asked how long does it take to get the parts, he said about a week. It's way past a week. I called Fosters Appliance and the receptionist that answered the phone said she hasn't received the part. This was Tuesday. My husband checked the tracking number sent to him by AHS it showed that the parts were delivered and signed for at Fosters Appliance in La Crescenta, and this was before the first time I called earlier. I called the company back the same girl answered the phone. I told her that the parts have been delivered one on the 4th and one on the 11th. She denied receiving an packages from FedEx. Her name was Wendy she told me to call my warranty company if I had a problem. I said the problem is you signed for our parts and are denying that you have them. I asked when are you going to set up an appointment to fix my refrigerator. She said she cannot make an appointment until they have our parts. I asked to speak to her supervisor, of course she said she was the only one there. I repeated I have the print out that FedEx delivered both parts. Abashed said you can deal with your warranty company. I told her I would call back tomorrow morning to speak with her supervisor, because the technician said that he would make an appointment to come out once he received the parts. Wendy said well the technicians don't make the appointment we do. Her tone of voice was rude. I looked up ratings on Fosters Appliance, It's 2.6. Why is AHS hiring companies with such low ratings. By the way I got a call the next morning from Fosters Appliance at 8:30 a.m. that they received my parts and will be out Thursday morning between 8 - 12 to fix our refrigerator. It's almost 10 a.m. I will wait to see what happens. When our washer broke some months back we had problems with the first company and we had to get another company recommended from AHS and he fixed it after ordering the parts. This took 2 weeks. Going this long without our Appliances isn't what we signed up for. Last Friday our waterheater started leaking. My husband tried to fix it. He couldn't get it to lite back up. He put in a repair request with AHS they gave him a phone number to call to repair the waterheater. He called no answer he left a message. I said enough is enough look how long they are waiting to fix our refrigerator. He said a waterheater should be fixed fast people need them. I said we need our refrigerator too. I called a waterheater company they came out next morning and fixed it right away. It only cost $275.00 and guess what no headaches. I am not satisfied with the Appliance repair companies that AHS are using. Unprofessional and very rude. They don't respect AHS clients. AHS NEEDS TO CHECK REVIEWS ON COMPANIES THAT THEY HIRE.

Dislike not being able to reach a human being. I've been calling since July off and on as of today still receive repeated recorded service. I've stayed on the line fro at least 1 hour, no one ever answers, just repeated recorded message. Totally unacceptable to paying customers. I received letter from AHS with increase in monthly payment for an offer that I did not authorize to add to Plan. Interesting, when I called regarding this, no one answers the phone. It's very strange they can take the payments, but can't answer either of the various phone numbers they list. My contract is being cancelled due to lack of contact with this company, imagine if I had a service request?

Scam Alert, THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST! They do everything to deny your claim. I have 3 homes covered by AHS. I have not used them until one of my A/C units started leaking while on A/C. First, lets talk about the 1 to 3 hour wait times. UNREAL but TRUE. They sent Relaxed Heating and air out who did everything to get my claim declined. I had to fight my case with AHS for hours and finally found out that they would not replace an air gap in the exit pipe, PVC pipe, a 30 cent PVC pipe. AHS used this excuse to decline the work. I called a private company to fix it and they wouldn't charge me because it was so easy to fix, it only took 2 minutes. I have to call AHS back and 2-1/2 hour wait, arguing with them to check the fix so they can now work on it. They approved the appointment and Relaxed Heating and AC refused to come back out. I found out why later... I requested another company, they assigned E&A Mechanical. They only way E&A will fix it is if they replace most of the parts for another $4,500. So, now you know the SCAM. They send companies to find something to deny the claim, if you have the time and patience to fight them, they will send someone out there to to "FIX" it but they will charge you a crazy amount of money to do all this other "NOT NEEDED" work for thousands of dollars.

On August 8th I wrote a review of American Home Shield (AHS). One of the bigger problems with the company to lack of follow-through. Almost immediately after writing the review, I got an email. Hi Peggy Deichstetter, Good news! Your voice has been heard by American Home Shield. The company has sent you the following response: "Hello Peggy, Thanks for sharing your experience. I hate to hear you were not totally satisfied with your overall experience with us. I have sent a private message to you regarding your request. Please respond to that message at your earliest convenience." Three days later: "Please feel free to let me know of a good day and time to contact you. Also, my hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm CST. Thank you, Mariah D" I responded: Hello Mariah, I would be delighted to speak with you. I think the best time would be on Monday ( August 17). I'm an early riser, so 8:30 would be great. Have a great weekend, Peggy Mariah wrote: Hi Peggy, "Okay that will work." GUESS WHAT?????? She never called. So apparently AHS really didn't want to talk to me!

This is the first time I have ever written a review on anyone. With that said I am so pissed with AHS. I have been with this company for years I know its been over 10. So therefore I expect top notch service. My water heater no longer work had to replace it so AHS assigned -Mayes a terrible company at least the one I had. First of all they replaced my water heater (Rheem) with the cheapest one ( a brand I never heard of). I have a co-worker who has AHS and the company she had replaced her water heater with same water heater she had before. I requested the same brand I had before. AHS had to OK this since they were paying for it. This company sent the most inexperience technicians they had. Unprofessional the one barking instructions the worse. At one point he said he was giving me two new valves but after all said and done he did not. When I first arranged for them to come and replace my water heater I was told I had to pay out of pocket 661.oo dollars for everything. Why they called back and said I would need an additional 695.00 I was livid because you just told me everything was covered within that 661.oo dollars. I feel as long as I have been with AHS and the money I paid them I was lied to. The price you quoted should have been the price for everything. At one point during the installation they had to turn my water off from outside. They were walking around my yard trying to locate the turn off valve. This person saw a black covering and wanted to cut it to see if that was the cut off valve. I was so glad at locating the right valve they had to call WSS. I am livid with the service I received This company I will never use and advised everyone else not to use. The company's name is Mayes plumbing and heating. I will be looking for a new home warranty company. This has been the worse experience from AHS.

Terrible experience. I requested service for a dryer issue. The Sears tech came out. The cord was burned and he was not able to check it until an electrician fixed the outlet. Sears noted they do not provide the part -electrical cord. The electrician came out and replaced the outlet. AHS never followed up with a call to me. I had to call every day with over an hour wait on hold each time. I had to then explain what was needed and told them that I needed a power cord. They said it was covered under my warranty but had to hear from the contractors as to what was needed. That was week one. The next week I told them I was purchasing the cord. Sears came out and said the cord I purchased was correct but didn’t fit the outlet. I returned the cord -thinking I needed a different one. I went back to Lowes and Home Depot and quickly realized the electrician had installed a range outlet, not a dryer outlet. I tried calling the electrician-unable to reach anyone. I called AHS every day for the next 5 days - they told me each day they were waiting to hear from their authorization dept as to whether they could order the power cord that they already confirmed was covered under my warranty. Each day I had to explain the same thing and each day I asked for a supervisor call. No supervisor ever called and I was told my call could not be transferred. Now into week three. I finally said I will again purchase the power cord and I needed the electrician to return to place the proper outlet. I asked for a different electrician. 2 days later the same electrician came out and insisted it was the right outlet. I informed him that only range cords would fit and he said I could use a range cord. I researched this - it is not recommended. He said he would have to order an outlet to fit the dryer cord. At this point I gave up. It appeared this electrician was likely very inexperienced. My husband bought the proper outlet and replaced it in about 15 min. I called and cancelled the home warranty.

I agree with callers, having to wait over an hour to speak with someoe is crazy. I have a leak at my house. The first technician about a week ago fixed it but said he would see if AHS would approve pipes to be replaced. He put in request I never heard from AHS. Now I am sitting here today because the company they sent out today refuse to fix leak unless they replace all pipes. Request had been pending for 2 weeks. The Rep today advised they denied request. it is friday and thats all they will do nothing. No happy with Any watercoming i to my boise right now. Also they wanted me to wait a week forthe previous repair service who fixed leak.

There is nothing good about this company. Keep your money and while they tell you when they are HARD selling you on the program that you can cancel at anytime but they forget to tell you that there is an cancellation fee. A couple things.... 1) If you have an issue and need to talk to someone - expect to make multiple calls and still not get a response. 2) If you have an issue - expect them to try to deny the claim if at all possible (they will make crap up). In my case, my air-conditioner had issues and needed repair. They denied the claim because they said a part on the unit was installed correctly. The home was new when we bought it 7 years ago and hasn't been worked on. So, if you bought a home 7 years ago and somehow the builder didn't do a great job - expect to hear that as the excuse. The repair agent said he could tell that it had been like that for a really really long time but that didn't matter to American Home Shield who really doesn't want to fix. 3) The cancellation fee that they charge should say it all. Companies who really stand behind their product don't force people to stay in them by charging these types of fees. Companies looking to scam people charge fees like this. Run the other way folks. American Home Shield is going to look for any possible reason to deny your repair! Run!!!!

If you could give them a negative star rating I would. We have spent literally days on hold trying to get a bathtub fixed. When finally do get through, the service reps are generally in a bad mood, but who wouldn't be if you had to deal with people who have been on hold for 4+hours! (we timed it) Then you get a different story each time, "the repair has been approved", "we are waiting for a part" , "that is not covered by your plan"' we called the contractor". Then you call the contractor and they say, "we have not heard from AHS." Save your money. You would be better off just putting $50 in the bank every month. Cheaper too!!!

I have spent over 6 hours on the phone over the last 5 days trying to get my hot water heater repaired. Now AHS will not pay for the full repair because they are saying that required parts are not covered. The required parts that are not covered are things like vent, drain pan, drip valve, water flex line and other standard parts that are essential to the replacement. The contract reads WATER HEATERS COVERED: All components and parts, including tankless water heaters and circulating pumps. Now they AHS wants to pay only 1/3 of the total costs to replace the water heater. They have promissed to call me back 5 times and have failed to do so each time. This has been a terrible experience. I have been a long time customer.

So the compressor on my refrigerator went out last week. I put in a service request in and a technician came to the house and verified that the refrigerator is not working and he recommended that it be replaced. That was on Thursday July 30th. I didn't contact American Home Shield on Friday because I already know that they are slow. I didn't contact them on Saturday because they do not work on weekends. Yesterday August 3rd, I spent the entire day trying to contact the appliance department to discuss a replacement and after over 5 hours I finally gave up. Today I call at 7 am eastern time no service because they are on central time. I called at 8 a.m and selected an option to be called back when a representative is available. It is 1130 and I still don't have a phone and I still don't have a refrigerator. And on top of that we are going through a hurricane and I have no food for my family. They are the worst.

I am customer for American Home Shield more than two year. I am so surprise of their treatments for their customer. Please take a time for reading my story for fixing water leakage with American Home Shield. And if possible, please let my story people know it. There was water leak from air conditioner at July 10 2020. And I requested service at the same day and paid 120$ as a deductible. And American Home Shield assigned a local aircon service company (consolidated Mechanical cont. INC). A technician from the local company visited my home at July 14. He just went up roof where air conditioner is placed and came down. He said “ I can’t find water leakage from aircon” even though water was flowed out on the ceiling of a room due to water leakage. He said “I will not charge for service, so you call American Home Shield again”. He left even though we asked proper service. It passed 5 day after first water leakage. So we complained American Home shield at weekend and the next Monday(July 17). After complaint, American Home shield assigned the same company (Consolidated Mechanical cont. INC) again at July 18, even though we complained the company because of poor service. So we contacted Consolidated Mechanical INC at July 18, they said “ the technician can’t access air condition, so they can’t do service, It is out of their policy”. We had to call again to American Home Shield and explain what happened with the local service company. And I really surprised their poor local service network pools. How can they have only one company for servicing aircon issues at whole phoenix area!!! After water leakage, It passed 1.5 weeks, and at July 17, American Home Shield said “they can’t do anything because technician can’t access aircon”. I argued and complained strongly about their customer service mindset. Finally American Home shield assigned another company (AIR COMMAND LLC) for second estimation, and an technician from Air Command LLC came to my home at July 21. He just got rid of water of pan (water plate) and said “ there are 3 missing part at my air conditioner, and the cost is 1108 and those are not covered because of missing part”. I am an Electrical engineer. I can’t trust “Air con was operated during 15 years without 3 parts”. It passed 2 weeks after water leakage. So I hired a technician from local aircon service company at July 22. The technician, who I hired, said “ Aircon didn’t miss 3 parts, and 3 things are required for stopping water leak 1) deep clean for coil 2) replace float AC switch 3) flush water drain, and the cost for that is 707$”. So I and my son contacted American Home shield at weekend and Monday several times. It passed 2 weeks, and leaked water wetted roof, insulator and ceiling continuously. My son called American home shield for explaining the whole situations several times, and he desperately gave up conversation with American Home shield because they insisted consistently that without missing part payment(1080$), they don’t do service for water leakage. Finally I called American Home shield at July 24. I asked to representator of the company “what were missed?” After argument, she said parts doesn’t missed, but parts didn’t cover by my policy. So I asked “what part is not covered?”, and She said “water pan is half size”. I said “actually It is not matter, half size or full size?, My house have two aircon units and the leaked aircon unit is small. Water leakage is not due to pan size but dust coil, broken float AC switch, and blocked water drain” After long conversation, She agree on the reason for water leakage, and she propose that she will apply cash-out option for treating water leakage, and the approval will take one or two day. It passed too long time after water leakage( moving to 3 weeks). I thought that she understand and agree on the reason for water leakage, so cash-out will be approved soon due to urgency. I made appointment with the technician, who was hired and estimated the cost(707$) at Thursday (July 27). It was passed almost 3 weeks after water leakge!!!!!!!. I called to American Home shield at Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for checking the status for cash-out. And they responded the cash-out process is pending still. Meantime, The technician came to my house and fixed water leakage easily and completely at Thursday(July 27). And I kept to call to American Home shield until today. And American Home shield finally responded me that they can’t cover my payment for water leakage due to missed 3 parts. I decided two things. 1) cancelling service contract with American Home Shield immediately 2) announcing my story to people. Why to fix just water leakage is so difficult and complicate? Why I had to pay the service charge even though I am customer more than two year for American Home shield? Please help me by transferring my story about American Home Shield. Please image what happened to me during more than 3 weeks. It was really stress to me due to continuous water leakage at my home, have to call to American home shield every day, have to explain the same thing to representators every times.

Not good. Wasn’t fixed the 1st time. No call back for 36 hours the second time.. 2 young kids no AC. Very hot nights. Do you hold these contractors accountable for the 24 hour time window? We called and texted them and still no call back for 36 hours. Overall awful experience. Contractor came out the second time and then said it was an electrical issue and he would call AHS and let them know. He never called, we had to call. Now, we are being charged another service call fee because they didn’t diagnose the problem right the first time. Did a quick fix. It worked for 10 hours and then we had to wait 36 hours for it to be “fixed” again and be told we need an electrician instead . With that, we have to pay another $132.94. Meanwhile, waiting on hold for hours on end several times to be told... Technical issue , we will call you back. Took my number no call back.. AHS and the contractors failed us..

I am so disappointed at AHS. I so far know 15 contracts that will cancel with AHS as I write this review. I am 10,000,000,000.00% sure I am NOT the only one that agrees with the poor, bad, frustrating AHS. They tell you they will follow up with you and they never do. A company shows its values when the customer service is right. Why am I paying for a service that I end up buying the new appliance? From 2019, Family-had washer and dryer that needs to be repair and they waited 2 months. Nothing was fixed. At the end AHS did nothing and Family A ended up buying a new washer & dryer. Very disappointing!! From 2018 Family B- had dishwasher broken. AHS said they do not have the part and replace with a broken part. Family B end up buying a new dishwasher, because after 3 months, nothing was fixed. The list can go on, AHS as of today has not improve their services. I can understand why people are starting to leave this company. I hope no more customers end up with this bad service.

If there was a negative rating this would be the place to get it The absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. First hold time is absurb! Normal is 2 hours. Agents promise I will get this corrected and will call u back. All lies. Contracters they hire are a joke Submitted for washer dryer repair on 6/29. Contractor came out stated dryer is fixed have to order part for washer. 2 days later dryer is in worse shape and leaving black residue on clothes. Called back after several attempts to contact contractor. Contacted company after 3 Weeks . I was told the contractor has had the parts since 7/15. Well no one has contacted me. Company stated will call contractor . Still no response. Now my fridge has issues. So I need to do another contract . Had appointment for same day 7/24but company canceled appointment because I have an open case still. After speaking to a sup they stated ur right not your fault. We will set up new appointment. Next available appointment 7/28. So now a fidget and freezer full of food is now garbage.I have family of 9 here that has to eat. We cant afford to go out and eat. But guess what. That contractor ever showed. 2 days more of phone calls and promises to call back. I still have broken washer dryer and fridge. Next available contractor is 8/4. This is the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced. I now have to continue spending money at laundromats taking chances on being out when I should be home staying safe. I now have to spend money daily that I dont have on food. Worse thing is no one is willing to fix this. I will shout to anyone who listens do not waste your money with this company.
