AHS has been my warranty company 4 years +, in that time I have had a garbage disposal, furnace,air conditioner and ice maker need service.I call and as soon as they can they have a repair company call me to fix the item.I am really glad that I chose American Home Shield.

Received American Home Shield policy with the purchase:closing of my home. Our double oven light board died within a month of home purchase. They quickly sent a repair professional who replaced the ‘mother board’ at my deductible cost of $100. Winning!

Limited number of companies/3rd vendors with bad reviews work with AHS. If the repair is simple and easy, then there will not be any problem. If the technician can not repair, then he looks to find a big problem to prove there is no coverage. In the contract, it is mentioned that if they can not repair an appliance, they should replace it. It will happen if it is kitchen faucet or fridge filter. If it is AC or Washer and dryer, the case is different. They will find a way to say there is no coverage, and you as customer are responsible to take care of the issue. Their warranty is not what they promised in their contract.

I received this coverage from the seller when I purchased my house and later repurchased for myself. It was very easy to use when I had a plumbing issue and the work was completed as promised. It is somewhat inexpensive and I would recommend it especially when buying a new home that you don’t yet know everything about.

AHS is a decent home warranty company. I have used them to refer me to many reputable companies that have serviced my townhouse. $75 service calls give you a piece of mind that you will not be hit with an expensive unscheduled repair.

My AC started acting up in the middle of our southern summer. It was a Sunday evening and by Monday afternoon the repair guy was there working on it. $100 copay was a lot cheaper than what I would if had to pay if it not be for AHS

I have been a very satisfied customer of American Home Shield for years. I have contacted them with appliance issues and it is painless. Stuff wears out, and when it does you can call or go to the AHS website and request service. The repairman comes out and problem solved! Really, what more could you ask?

When we first signed up with American Home Shield, the service was great. The price has increased, which is normal for most companies after a few years, but sometimes the service is really not very good. For example, our water heater started leaking and not heating anymore after 12 years, and this was in the middle of winter mind you. Where we live it gets down into the low 20’s and teens. We called American Home Shield, and they put our claim in as an emergency. Two days later I called them back when we hadn’t heard from the repair company, and I had even called and left two messages for the repair company. Over a week and a half later and a lot of calls complaining to American Hime Shield, we finally got a local plumber authorized by American Home Shield. A week and a half later, we had a new water heater. It took way too long for our emergency situation. And it also cost us our deductible of $75 plus $150 extra to bring our water heater stand up to code. Two weeks after our initial call to American Home Shield, the original plumbing company called us to schedule our appointment. Needless to say, I had some choice words for the person on the other end of the phone. We also had our microwave, stove, dishwasher, and trash compactor fixed by American Home Shield when SCE’s PSPS’s ruined our appliances. Our microwave has never worked right since. They had to send out our main computer for microwave out to be remanufactured. Now 3 of the number buttons no longer work, the click button won’t work, the kitchen timer button won’t work, the power button, (to change the percentage of power), won’t work, our options button won’t work, and our light timer won’t work. Not the best for our $75 deductible and $53.99 a month fee. American Home Shield is okay, but I’m sure there may be a better company out there.

We have had American Home Shield for several years and worked with them for repairs several times. Overall, I have been thankful to have the protection and peace of mind. The process however can be lengthy and I wish that consumers had more choice in the service provider we would like to work with. When our a/c went out last summer we had a very difficult time coordinating repair. All of the repair companies were understandably busy, it took many phone calls with lengthy wait times, but we were able to finally obtain a waiver to choose a repair company on our own because the AHS providers were either unresponsive or too busy and unable to meet the service level agreements. The situation was stressful, but I received my reimbursement as promised.
