The Good

  • Customizability
  • Site marketing
For someone looking to build a website of any kind, you can almost guarantee that web.com will have what they need. They offer hundreds of templates and themes for customers to have as a starting place for their sites. These templates are organized into the industries that they coincide with, making it easy for you to find exactly what will work best for you. If you would rather have the website built for you, simply have an in-depth interview with a design expert about what you purpose and what you would like. A fully functional website will be available for you in 2-8 business days. Once there is a website built to suit the your needs, a mobile site can be generated with just a few simple clicks. Web.com offers options for building a website for any skill level. The work is not over for web.com once the website is created, their experts will then create a plan to help market the site and business. These experts utilize common search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo to drive visitors to the site. They can also take advantage of location services, like Yelp and FourSquare. There are several options for marketing tools, depending on what the customer needs, but some commonly used are SEO and pay-per-click.

The Bad

  • Lack of information and organization
  • Customer support
The one major downfall of web.com is the lack of information and organization on their website. There are a lot of tabs but there is not a clear organization of where to go to find what information you are looking for. The titles of the tabs can also be a little confusing. On each of these pages there is a general outline of what they offer for that particular feature but the each lack some of the crucial specific information. For example, there are very few prices listed throughout the website. Each page invites you to call a phone number to speak to a representative for further information. While this can be a hassle, their representatives are very helpful and willingly answer any questions you might have. The wait time was short and the representative very quick but it would have been quicker to find the information directly on the website. Not only does web.com want all customers to call them for more information, it is the only way to reach them for customer service. There is no email listed or FAQ page available for customers to utilize. Their call center is also only available during regular business hours. Occasionally a live chat box will pop up on their site, but it seems to be more for gathering more information rather than solving problems.

The Bottom Line

While the information about their services is not readily available from visiting their website, web.com offers customers exactly what they need to succeed. The wide variety of tools provided to help build, promote and market a website make this company a good fit for any customer.
