These services are available to customers 24/7/365, which is convenient for customers who have issues outside of normal business hours. HostGator also provides customers with a knowledge base to find answers to common questions.

Hosting Options

HostGator has several web hosting options to choose from. These options include VPS, cloud, and dedicated web hosting. While this is not as extensive as other companies in the industry, it definitely gives some options for customers. HostGator also offers 19 plans with different hosting options and features. These plans allow for scalability and customization to tailor to the customers needs. HostGator's hosting line-up is easy to figure out and you can see what you are getting. Flash video tutorials are numerous and easily accessed. With the vast array of hosting plans and options available through multiple companies, HostGator's product line is clearly presented. As with all web hosts, it will take a new visitor time to sort out the plans. The Support Portal for searches is a nice tool. It would be nice if it were more prominent on the website, in order to enable faster surfing. The pricing structure concerns us a little, since nearly all of it is discounted, and they do not disclose when the regular price structure will be invoked.

No Shared or Managed Hosting

HostGator offers several web hosting options, however they could offer more. We would like to see HostGator extend their services to include shared and managed web hosting options. This provides more options and customization for customers who would benefit more from plans that included shared and managed hosting options.

No Unlimited Data

HostGator puts limits to their customer's bandwidth and storage. Many larger companies are now offering unlimited or unmetered data on a lot of their plans. We would like to see HostGator offer customers unlimited bandwidth and storage as well. This would make their service more competitive and more desirable to customers. Customers who are concerned about data limits should consider a different web hosting company.
