Customers are welcome to cancel at any time of their membership terms, but the company does not offer prorated refunds of unused time of a subscription terms. Cancellations are requested via the online customer portal.

 Transparency

WiTopia is extremely transparent in their terms and conditions. While some customers might not agree with their policies, especially the no refund past the first 30 days of their membership, they cannot say that the company "hid" this information from them. In addition to detailing various company policies, WiTopia details information which is collected for billing purposes, and importantly the reasons for which a user might find their service terminated by WiTopia. These include - multiple logins for different IPs, which indicates sharing the services, copyright infringements, committing crimes or spamming while connected to the VPN.

Customer Support

WiTopia offers their customers solid customer support, both in the quality and the accessibility. They are available via email or online chat. In order to immediately create a support ticket with WiTopia, customers must email the company. In order to properly route requests, WiTopia requests that all inquiries regarding technical support go to support@witopia.net and those regarding sales or pre-sales questions be sent to sales@witopia.net.

Extra features

Of note for customers is that WiTopia offers routers and support for these devices for additional fees. Each of the routers sold for WiTopia customers comes set up to connect to the VPN and enables additional features. These are not required for the VPN to function properly, but can greatly enhance the performance and security. The addition and use of one of these routers is helpful for smart devices (TVs, video game consoles, etc.) which are not able to otherwise connect to the VPN. WiTopia does not offer many additional services (firewalls, anti-virus, kill switches, etc.) which are available from other companies.

Free Trial

Unlike many of their competitors, WiTopia does not offer any type of free trial. They do offer an unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee for new customers should they determine that the service does not fit their needs. The length of the free guarantee is much longer than most of their competitors.

The Review Team, in an attempt to universalize data and comparisons between companies, uses an independent speed test site which calculated average connection speeds for various providers. In order to receive a measurement which best reflects the high degree of variability for the criterion of speed, the data compared (whenever possible with available data) was for the last 250 tests. WiTopia was listed on an independent speed test site with an average download speed of 6.1 Mbps and an average upload speed of 1.5 Mbps. This data is significantly lower than the US average of 20.8 Mbps and 5.2 Mbps for downloads and uploads, respectively for non-VPN connections. The Review Team acknowledges that the number of variations in speed and performance are significant and cautions against prospective customers making final decisions based upon this criterion only. Since WiTopia offers a generous money-back guarantee, the company's product is worth testing on one's own ISP and can be be done without risk.

WiTopia is at the cutting-edge with their proprietary technology and offers their customers security and privacy while surfing online. In spite of the few weaknesses, the Review Team confidently recommends WiTopia for further examination when shopping for VPN service. It is important to note that this recommendation is primarily for the personalVPN™ PRO, since this product is the only one which includes OpenVPN encryption.
