One great aspect about The Lock Up is that it offers many different sizes of storage units to potential customers. The homepage of the website features a storage unit size guide to help consumers determine how much space they will actually need. The Lock Up offers units anywhere from 5' x 5' to 10' x 30'. In addition to these sizes, the size guide shows what will fit inside each one, helping potential customers visualize how things would actually fit.

Additional Services

Another great benefit The Lock Up offers to consumers is the help it provides in the moving process. The company sells moving supplies such as various sized boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, furniture covers, labels, markers, gloves, and more. In addition to these things, The Lock Up provides a free move-in truck and lock with every new self-storage unit rental at every self-storage facility it owns.

Climate Controlled Units

Climate controlled units can be useful when storing delicate items such as artwork, electronics, fine textiles, plants, or wood items that could be damaged or ruined if exposed to extreme weather conditions. The Lock Up uses dedicated humidity controls to prevent damage and ensure consistent humidity levels throughout the course of a rental agreement.

Customer Service

The Lock Up prides itself on great customer service by showcasing some of its reviews on the homepage. The company does, indeed, offer good customer service by ensuring that units are regularly inspected and serviced for any kind of pests that are common to storage unit facilities. Additionally, the company has access hours from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, which are not the best but will suffice for most customers.

Only Indoor Units

One downside to The Lock Up is that it only offers indoor units. To some consumers, this may not be a downside, because they may be looking for an indoor unit. However, many companies offer both indoor and outdoor units to cater to a wide variety of preferences and requirements. So if you're looking for an outdoor unit with quick and easy drive-up access, The Lock Up is not for you.

No Reimbursement

Some companies offer to reimburse customers for the time they don't use the storage unit. For example, if you move out in the middle of the month, the company would reimburse you for the rest of the month that you didn't use the unit. Sadly, we weren't able to find whether The Lock Up will do this or not.

Higher Prices

The biggest downside about The Lock Up is the price. Compared to the top rated companies, The Lock Up features high prices with a 10' x 10' unit costing about $125 per month. Most of the top companies fall somewhere between $70-$90 for a comparative unit. This is unfortunate because the company has so many good things to offer, but compared to other companies, the price is on the higher end.

The Bottom Line

The Lock Up is better than most in terms of its services and features by offering moving supplies and a free move-in truck. However, the higher price tag makes it less appealing to most consumers. For those that do not care about price, The Lock Up may be a good option. For the economical consumer, other options might be better to look into before deciding to go with The Lock Up.
