The Good

• Size Variety
• Moving Products and Services
• Storage Tips

Size Variety

Storage West offers several different storage unit sizes, giving customers the ability to rent a unit that holds all of their belongings without having to pay for more space than they need. The company provides a tool on its website to help potential customers to figure out which unit size would be best for their situation.

Moving Products and Services

Because Storage West understands that it can be a hassle to move into a storage unit, the company offers a number of products and services to help make the process more simple and convenient for its customers. For example, Storage West allows tenants to use its moving truck for up to one day for free. In addition, the company sells moving and packing supplies such as boxes, furniture covers, bubble wrap, mattress bags, and tape at each of its facilities in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas.

Storage Tips

Storage West has provided a resource section on its corporate website that provides a number of storage tips and explanations. Consumers can turn to this page for FAQs and in-depth information on self storage.

The Bad

• Pricing
• Unit Options
• Gate Hours
• Maintenance
• Locations

Pricing

Unfortunately, Storage West's prices are not the most affordable in the industry. For a 10x10 drive-up unit, customers can expect to pay $89.95 per month, which is neither the highest nor the lowest rate when compared to prices offered by other top storage unit companies. In addition, it is unclear whether or not Storage West reimburses customers for unused time if they move out of their unit in the middle of the month.

Unit Options

After looking at Storage West's website, it is unclear whether if the company offers indoor or outdoor units or has security measures in place to protect its customers' belongings. This lack of transparency makes it difficult for potential customers to discern whether or not Storage West offers a unit option that will fit their needs. Further, the company has stated that it does not provide climate-controlled units.

Gate Hours

Storage West's gate hours are fairly limited. Customers can only access their units from 6 AM to 8 PM each day, which is an issue for anyone that may need to get into their unit at night.

Maintenance

Some storage units perform regular upkeep to ensure that their units are clean and well-maintained for their customers. Storage West, on the other hand, does not offer this service, meaning that customers are responsible to take care of unit cleaning on their own.

Locations

Storage West is only available in four states: Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas. Although the company has 50 facilities scattered throughout these four states, consumers who live elsewhere will have a hard time taking advantage of these services.

The Bottom Line

Storage West offers a wide variety of unit sizes and several moving products and services. However, the company's prices are not the most affordable in the industry and the company is not entirely transparent about its unit options. Further, Storage West's gate hours are limited and no regular maintenance is performed. If you don't mind paying a bit more for your storage unit each month and would like to work with a company that will help you with the moving process, Storage West may be a good option for you.
