The Good

• Services
• Great amenities
• Packing and moving supplies

Services

Customers of Storage King will appreciate the climate controlled units that are available in four sizes. They will also appreciate the added convenience of being able to pay their bill and rent/reserve a unit online. Some locations have 24/7 access to units and accept deliveries for customers. Protection plans are also available for customers who would like the added insurance of their items. Some locations also offer discounts for military members and seniors.

Great Amenities

Storage King provides some great amenities that most customers will appreciate. All storage units are climate controlled which help keep customer's items safe from damage that can be caused by weather conditions. All storage unit facilities have security measures, some locations have better security options than others. Customers will want to look into the security used on the location that they are interested in. Some locations offer an onsite manager, video surveillance, gate access codes, insurance, and protection plans. Some locations also have U-Haul rentals available, and USPS stores for an added convenience. Customers will really enjoy all of these great added benefits with their storage unit rental.

Packing and Moving Supplies

At all Storage King locations they provide moving supplies for purchase. This can be a great convenience to customers who are in need of these supplies. Some of the items that they sell include locks, boxes, bubble wrap, mattress bags, moving blankets, utility knives, packing tape, work gloves, and markers. This is a great one-stop shop for all your packing needs, or if you have forgotten something, or need more than you expected.

The Bad

• High price
• Security
• Limited availability

High Price

Storage King's average price is quite high in the industry. While it is not the highest, it is still higher than the average storage unit company. For the price, you would expect that they would provide more benefits to their services Customers who are concerned about the price of a storage unit should find a different company to store with.

Security

We also do not like that some locations do not have 24/7 access to units. Other companies in the industry allow customers to have access to their units 24/7 at all locations. We would also like to see the company improve on their security measures. Currently they only offer video surveillance and a gate access code. Other companies in the industry offer a great deal more security to protect their customers items.

Limited Availability

Storage King has a lot of great aspects, however, they are only available in nine states in the East. In these nine states there are only 26 locations. This greatly limits who can benefit from their products and services. Some storage unit companies in the industry are available nationwide. The states that Security King is currently available in are Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. We would like to see Storage King expand within and outside their current service area. Customers who are seeking storage unit services outside this area will have to look elsewhere.

The Bottom Line

Storage King has a lot of great benefits included in their services. We really like the moving supplies available for purchase, and the added convenience of U-Haul and USPS on some locations. The protection plans and extra insurance are also great benefits that are provided; however, we would like to see Storage King improve their security on most of the locations. They are also priced high in the industry, and do not provide 24/7 access to all locations. Overall, we feel that we can recommend Storage King's services for your storage needs.
