I unfortunately had a poor experience with Blue Raven. First they did not appear to understand the local regulations where I live. The installation was done incorrectly per local regulations and required multiple visits for the company to finally get the set up acceptable to the village. It was months from the installation to when the system was operational. Then this winter, after heavy snows, ice and snow slid off the panels onto my car parked in the driveway causing thousands of damage to my vehicle. I emailed Blue Raven, and first they said they had never heard of this issue, and then stopped responding. Looking on line, this is a well known issue in states with snow, with solutions available. Their ignorance of this is unaccpeptable. I would strongly urge you to look for a different company that knows what they are doing

Review updated: Horrible service. I had contracted and at the time, I had just installed a hot tub. through the winter before it was installed My bills were higher, so I got a quote from another company which was more panels. about a month and a half before install, I sent my rep an updated bill to which he blew me off saying it was no problem. Then it was installed, and I had to turn it on, connect to enphase and learn system myself. The rep sent me thermostats paid for out of his pocket, which is kind of shady, and they said they were going to send someone to install which hasnt happened. They are now saying I have to install 6 additional panels to get to 100% offset. Th rep is now telling me things like hybrid systems are good, but non of this was discussed before. I also had concerned that the panels are not lined up in straight lines, which my wife and neighbors have made comments, and again the rep blew me off . To me, the rep is either incompetent since I now have to purchase more, or just greedy and didn't care which is why he blew me off. The company has ceased to respond for requests to make this right or remove it and the loan. DO NOT contract with Blue Raven.

I said I wanted solar panels but they insisted on an hour presentation when I only wanted the details of how much. Then I was told it was a 15 year loan when in reality it was 25 years. I’m a teacher so I said I could only do this during summer. They said don’t worry it’ll get done and we will do it all. Not only was it not done during summer. They also never let me know when things went through like my permit. I did all the work on that side of it. Constantly updating them on the progress of my panels. Then inspections and install had to be a week day. How can I get a sub in my class mid pandemic? On top of that you told me I wouldn’t need to because it’ll be done during summer. Constantly getting calls to schedule a week day install until finally they agreed to a weekend one and then tried to make me be the bad guy in the situation. Install guys were amazing. My contact guy was awful. He even tried to ask if he could stay in my house while I’m at work during the install. I’m going to let a guy I don’t even like into my home without me? No way. Awful service. Then my friend got solar panels from a local place. Way cheaper that I’m pay. Didn’t cost him a car to go green. If I were to do this again I’d go with any other company. This was an awful experience I hope no one else has to go through. And for some reason y’all keep asking me for these reviews. I’ve given you feed back two other times. How many times can I say you’re not a great company to work with till you leave me alone?

The emails that you’ve received asking for a review were sent to touch base and let you know you are meeting your production guarantee for your system , which is great news. installation was a nightmare. it was 6 months from signing to install, which they did wrong and had to redo. it was then 2 months from install till the panels got turned on, at which time one set of panels wasn't connected correctly so wasn't working at all. it was an additional 4 months from that point to get the system fully functioning. i was constantly harrassing them to get the next step scheduled and redone, and no one i talked to ever had any answer or idea for what the hold-up/problem was.

false advertising. only designed for 75% of my electrical usage and gave me light bulbs to cover the last 25% when I was under the impression that you designed for 100% of my electrical consumption, which of course, would have been the smart thing to do....

Hi Patrick, in the installation agreement you signed, Blue Raven guaranteed your system would produce 4,027 kWh in it's first year. Your system has produced 4,120 kWh in a year which is a 102% offset. You also signed the agreement for a 25% offset from our EE kit. Blue Raven has provided you with a state of the art system that is producing very well. Because your home has increased it's energy usage, the only way to offset this additional energy is to add additional panels. We are not responsible for your increased usage and such costs. - Maddie E., BRS

Where to start? September 27, 2021 sign and pay half of what would be a headache, Today April 12, 2022 the system finally seems to work, if 7 months seems little, my headache was not, a disaster customer service Communication with the client was a disaster, but they made sure that yesterday I received my last bill to pay them, I called by phone no less than 10 times to find out what was happening because nobody was able to tell me what was happening, they even told me that I'm sure it would be installed before the end of the year to be able to have the credit from the government (a lie), a total disappointment, the last person who attended me, (I don't remember his name) didn't even care about the frustration I had, I had to call directly to the electrician to solve the problem, which Watts company had already solved the problem 2 weeks before and Blue Raven still said that they had to solve the problem. A very bad experience and company itself. When I told them that the inspector from Sandy city had passed and told me that the system was failed, the person from Blue Raven asked me (yes, me) what the city had told me that it was failing when I had paid half of the installation (which are not a few dollars) for me to tell him what the problem was!!! The truth is that I am very disappointed in this company and never again, if possible, will do business with them. Hopefully the system never fails so I don't have to call them.

This has been one of the worst services of all time! Absolute dysfunction! The sales team did a great job getting in the door and selling the product. Once the papers are signed you never hear from them again! They were quick to install panels on my home but nothing else occurred for a very long time. As they were wrapping up the installation, they found the breaker box needed to be updated before proceeding. Negligence on BRS's part when post installation inspection. BRS agreed to pay for the upgrade. BRS shipped all the parts to my home for the breaker panel upgrade. According to the local electrician the parts were all incorrect. The city came by my home and stated the permits for the panels weren't approved yet and the panels needed to come down. This was all supposed to be taken care by BRS. After weeks and months of calling for a status update on when this panel upgrade would be completed the install occurs 5 months later. This is also after I already started making monthly payments for the solar panel loan which weren't operational. What a joke to make payments on something that isn't operational. I also couldn’t switch over electric companies to obtain credits due to the panels not being operational. Not only due I have solar panels installed but making a loan payment for them along with a full electric bill due to BRS's dysfunction. The excuses I received was "the city is being hard on us." Not my problem! If BRS did their job correctly and well then, these issues wouldn't have occurred. While in conjunction with all this going on I watched my neighbor go through the same hassles. Now I have the breaker panel upgraded and the panels functioning but not able to view the productivity through there Enlighten (Enphase) app. This issue has now been going on for 3 months without a resolution. A technician comes out the first time and states they need to call the installer. Why in the hell is there a technician coming out to begin with if they can't repair the issue. Never say or heard from the installer. Have called in multiple times over the 3 months and advised that it's "on the schedule." It was scheduled for someone to come out two more times for resolution and both were no shows! What kind of customer service is this!?!? Now being scheduled for a 4th time to see what happens. Issue still not resolved after 7 months! The referral program incentive is ridiculous! Filled that out over 8 months ago and took them 7 months to cut a check for it. Why would I ever recommend this company to anyone ever again! Not one call from anyone in management to apologize or offer any type of compensation for the extreme hassle, neglect, and upmost lack of professionalism. If anyone is reading this walk away and do not ever do business with BRS. Take the "R" out and you get your real answer. JUST BS!

I was looking for solar quotes and Blue Raven sent a sales person who showed me a presentation with the wrong house and the wrong numbers. After 3 hours he was able to get his team to fix the mistakes. Told me that in order to get a more detailed quote a site inspection was needed and then I would have 3 days to decide. I initial an online form on his iPad giving permission to access the premises on a later date. I requested further information of the equipment to be installed and could not get a straight answer. After the site inspection all I got was a drawing of my roof with the panels. Therefore, 3 days later I sent an email to the sales person that I had decided not to pursue solar panels with them. Few weeks later they sent me an invoice because it turns out that the form the sales person asked to fill out was their installation agreement and I did not cancel using the proper form. My reliance on their sales person cost me hundreds of dollars.

Customer Support for this company is lacking in both knowledge and empathy for your installed system after 2 years of ownership, this could be the current staff they hired or the company no longer cares for their existing customer systems? My system stopped reporting data 4 months ago (I'm not sure if its working correctly at this point, although the power company indicates power is being produced I'm not certain how much from each panel), so I called Blue Raven customer support. The support person told me that I had to call SolarEdge (the website where you can see your solar panel production details) as its not their problem. There was no further discussion about my system and no indication that they would send a technician out to check my system. The Blue Raven support person did not provide any further help, but reluctantly agreed to contact SolarEdge and open up a support ticket with them. Not feeling like the call went well (lack of empathy and a care less attitude from their customer support person), I open a ticket with SolarEdge, of which they promptly got back to me and said my system was no longer sending data from my site and to contact Blue Raven. This is where I'm now getting very upset, Blue Raven took no accountability with my first phone call, the support person could have asked me to take a look at the panel on the side of my home and see if the system is providing any output details. That would have taken all of about 2 minutes instead of the "you have to call SolarEdge" and speak to them. That is total BS coming from Blue Raven support! Furthermore when a company does not take any accountability for what was installed in a customers home you must ask this question "do I want to do business with them". Blue Raven has no idea if a customers panels are working or not, they don't seem like they care, after all it's the customers system not theirs. This is apathy at its worst, if you want help once your system is online and they got your money in their pocket - I wish you all the best of Luck! P.S. I'm building a new home and will install solar panels but I will NOT use Blue Raven

The installation resulted in several paint and drywall repairs by the crew. We also were totally misinformed about the Duke rebate. When we called to ask Blue Raven about this, we were told that we likely wouldn't have gotten the funds anyway because our project was completed so long after the rebates were awarded for that year. Sadly, the sales person totally misinformed us. We likely wouldn't have gone through with solar this soon had we not been told we would be likely receiving a $4-6000 rebate from Duke. Really disappointed in this company....should have never gone with them. Local is better and should have known.

As far as your concerns with the rebate, we specify in the recorded introduction call that we can only confirm what’s in your written contract and anything outside of that contract is not promised. This is a SCAM!!! They say you get $4000 back on your taxes, that part is true but they do not tell you that you have to put that towards the $18,000 for the solar panels or your payment of $66 goes up. The interest rate is ridiculous. $50+ of my first payment went all to interest! This has been the most awful experience EVER!! And my last two electric bills were over $100!! Also, if they don't tell you, without a battery back up (For an additional $12K that they don't even sell) when the electric grid goes down, you are still out of power. My suggestion, go with a TESLA system, at least they have a battery system. That might be worth the money.

Reply from Blue Raven Solar

Hi, Tammy. I apologize for the misunderstanding; when going solar, it is made clear in the recorded introduction call, and written agreements that you will still be hooked up to the utility grid when you have solar panels. It’s what allows you to use energy at night when the sun has gone down. We do have battery options available that are compatible with the system. If that’s something you’d like to look into please let us know and we’d love to get something started. We are confident in our product and its quality, so we guarantee our panels’ production by 85% for 2 years. The panels have an additional manufacturer’s warranty of 25 years linear output. If your system’s production does not meet this standard for the first 2 years, we will take care of you through compensation and/or repairs. Please reach out if there is anything else I can help you with. - Samantha H., Blue Raven Solar

Marta Poling Schmitt ,

We are normally gracious consumers. But, we have been very frustrated with Blue Raven. We paid cash for our 18 solar panels, but still experience high energy bills. Nevada Energy has confirmed that our solar panels contribute low level energy into the grid. So, what is our option? To buy more panels. Blue Raven calls it “a retrofit.” Twice, we’ve submitted six to ten months of electric bills to document our electric usage. Still, we’ve received no response or a call from Blue Raven to set up an appointment to add more solar panels to our roof. Don’t contract with this company. They use “bait and switch.” For $18,000 you’ll get a solar panel system that barely saves you any money and is inadequate for reducing your electrical bills. Marta Poling Schmitt Las Vegas, NV

As far as the sales portion went, the saleman was very friendly and personable. It was nice working with him on the front end. However, this is where the problems first began. We discussed about what would happen if we were to cancel and he informed me that after a certain point in the process, we would be on the hook for a cancellation fee. I told him I wouldn't sign any paperwork unless I got a heads up before I was on the hook for any costs, to which the sales rep promised to do. He also lied saying that that the financing for the solar panels wouldn't end up as a lien on the property even though for all intents and purposes, it is. They sent out the engineer to examine the property and then submitted the plans to the permit office in the area and things were moving along well. Unfortunately, finances became tight due to dealing with Covid so I notified my sales rep that we wouldn't be able to move forward and would have to cancel. He told me he understood but that we would have to pay the cancellation fee as we were past the point of cancellation, to which I replied that he failed to notify me that I had passed the deadline. He basically blew me off and told me I was on the hook for a $1,200 cancellation fee. I tried to discuss the fee with their Finance department saying that their representative broke a legally binding verbal agreement and that I was displeased about it. I also asked for a breakdown of their fee as the cost of the permit was only roughly $600 to which they replied that that was just their standard flat fee and I had to pay it regardless but they provided me the email for their HR department and told me that they would make sure my complaint was logged and responded to. Not surprisingly, I sent several emails and called multiple times, only to continually receive the respond of "we'll get back to you." It has been over a month at this point and I have heard absolutely nothing. Overall, they intentionally don't mention the fact that they will charge you $1200 for cancelling when you are signing the agreement for them to have the engineer come examine your property and will absolutely not give you a notification in advance of when you have crossed the deadline for it. Their HR department has no inclination to actually respond to complaints, even when one of their sales reps makes a legally binding verbal agreement and will blow you off hoping you simply go away. The sad part is that I'm sure the solar panels would have worked well and things probably would have been fine if I had been able to go through with the process but they utterly disregard you if you need to cancel for any reason and are simply interested in ensuring they get whatever cost they can from you and then completely ignore you. Because of this, I will never in good conscience recommend this company to anyone as they deal in bad faith and will downplay the $1200 flat cancellation fee when they try to sell you at the start. If for whatever reason, you do choose to go with Blue Raven for solar and have any requests to be made throughout any part of the process, BE SURE TO GET IT IN WRITING OR THEY WILL NOT HONOR IT.

The company approached from a door to door salesperson. We listened and promises were made about our 2019 tax credit. Once the paperwork was done the company dragged their feet the entire time and refused to work with us about anything. We only asked for the proper paperwork for 2019 and after numerous calls to our Rep and his Boss, they told us "it's not their problem, they aren't tax people." We've filled a complaint with the BBB, to which they lied to them about several things, including dates and responses to us. The BBB wont do anything and we are out money, I will advise everyone who will listen to stay away from this shady business and their lying employees.

David,

The installation proposal clearly states that the timeline is an estimate and may be delayed due to factors out of Blue Raven Solar’s control. Blue Raven fulfilled all obligations by providing a state-of-the-art solar system for her home. The delays in which you are referring to were all out of Blue Raven Solar’s control. Blue Raven cannot be held responsible for these delays as we are at the mercy of the city for all required inspections. At the time of the roof inspection, you were outside of this three-day window. The next series of delays was from your neighborhood HOA. Blue Raven Solar works closely with HOA’s to ensure that all guidelines are met when installing a solar system. We cannot be held responsible for the delays that were caused by the HOA. When you were “assured” there would be no financial impact , this was correct. The tax credit policy states “If by December 1, 2019, your System has not been scheduled for installation on a date before the end of the year, you can ensure 2019 ITC participation by making advance payment to Company toward the cost of the System in an amount equal to 5% or more of the cost of your System. Advance payments should be received by Company no later than December 27, 2019 to ensure timely processing." Blue Raven Solar stands by their work and employees.
Blue Raven Solar has fulfilled all obligations both financially and in regard to the solar system.

I’m completely unimpressed and angry with Blue Raven Solar. The entire process has been painful and disappointing. First, the sales: Sales guy was good. Made the entire thing seem very attractive. We expressed our concerns with our roof, as it is aging and asked if we should get it replaced before installation. “No need we can take the panels down, and put them back up with no problem.” So we agreed to the initial check to see how many panels we would need and to concept it out. I will admit my wife and I did take a long time to decide, as it is a big financial decision to do this. Meanwhile they hounded us. HOUNDED US. Finally, they threatened us with a bill of $1200 to cancel... gotta read that fine print people... We told them to calm down and moved forward. We got the panels installed in February, and finally got them turned on in March. In April we started getting some minor leaks in our roof over our sun room (this is the area they carried the panels up for installation). We called a roofing company to assess. They let us know there was some wind damage from storms and minor damage from the installation of the panels. Started the process of getting a new roof. Called Blue Raven about taking the panels down to replace the roof, as the sales rep told us it wouldn't be an issue. They inform me it would be $4895.00 to take the panels down and put them back up after the roof is replaced. AN ADDITIONAL FIVE GRAND, TWO MONTHS AFTER INSTALLATION. Fine. We literally have no choice now. We paid the first half ($2400) and scheduled them to come out on May 15th (today, Friday)... scheduled the roofing company to come out on Monday (May 18th). Shingles were delivered this morning. Blue Raven still hasn’t shown up. No call, email, text... nothing. I called the Charlotte office to find out what's going on, and they transferred me to the Utah office... the customer service rep told me the one team they have for this area can’t make it out today, and they need to reschedule... a week and a half later. “It’s the only possible time we can make it there. We have other projects we CAN'T reschedule.” Oh I see. Your company has failed on all accounts to meet it's responsibilities for the date you scheduled the project for and all I get is a “Sorry for the inconvenience”. We paid $2400 so far and we cant even get a courtesy call.. or proper planning.. or proper customer service. To the prospective customers out there, do yourself a favor, before you get solar panels, get your roof done first. And don’t call these guys. The product is good, it’s the company that’s lacking.

Joshua Popper ,

Blue Raven Solar is a SCAM. First, they drew out the process for about 9 months (total incompetence) until my solar panels were providing energy. Then, conveniently, the system didn't report to Comed how much evergy the solar panels produced on the first bill. They said it was fixed, but the second bill was about the same as a winter electric bill from comed, despite generating lots of electricity. Basically, I'm paying the same electric bill plus the monthly payment for the Solar panels. So far, they are telling me that I'm using more electricity than I used last year which is impossible. My last real Comed bill was regular with no spike in electricity usage. Nothing changed. I'm looking into what I can do to get this fixed.

I know many have a good experience with this company. I was not fortunate enough to be one of those people. Watch out for certain sales people’s sales tactics from this company. I was straight up lied to by their Salem, OR sales rep on purchasing a system that was not at all what the rep said it was. He repeated over and over I would be exchanging my power bill for my solar bill. What he did not tell us was how those assumed numbers are calculated. Now I’m stuck with two bills, paying significantly more overall than when I just had a power bill. The company would not accept ownership of their sleazy sales persons tactics and I got burned as the end consumer.

Hi Christian, we appreciate the feedback and have forwarded your comments to our sales team. We are sorry that the power offsets were not explained better by the sales rep. You are producing just shy of 100% of what we estimated you would produce. Please contact me at if there is anything else I can help with. Thanks. - Maddie E., Blue Raven Solar

Misleading and deceptive sale practice. The sale guy will present to you a system that they said is designed to offset your last 12 month average usage with your electric company, but then on the contract they only list like 60% of what you used in term of kilowatt. Before you go with them, make sure you add up your last 12 month kilowatt usage with electric company and match it to your contract. They tell you that LED lights and Ecobee will reduce your energy consumption by 40% that is why they design a system that will produce 60% of what you need. Don't buy this BS. If you can cut 40% of your usage by going LED and Ecobee, why would you buy their system that cost so much? LED and Ecobee cost less than $300. There is no saving by going solar with them. They overcharge their system. Make sure you don't sign anything with them upfront, and get at least 3 quotes from other contractors. I am looking for attorney to sue them!!

Hi there Nary,

I’d like to apologize for any miscommunication during the sales process. This does not, however, change the fact that all information needed to make a fully informed decision on whether or not to go solar was included in the proposal and installation agreement you signed.

The difference that you’re seeing is the energy-saving thermostat and LED bulbs that we include as a way to reduce the amount of panels you need to buy to cover your usage. The purpose of this addition is simply to keep the cost for you, the customer, low by reducing your reliance on electricity. Less energy spent means less panels needed means lower cost to go solar for you. It also means a smaller sale for us, but as we’re in the business of providing homeowners across America with a simple and affordable way to get the best solar technology. Plain and simple.

As for satisfaction of our customers, with over ten thousand installed customers and an average review score of 4.4 across the internet, people seem to be pretty happy with our service. We’re happy to chat anytime about any questions you may have.

Best,
Evan H

We were relatively happy with the process through installation but it has gone downhill since then. Our gutter was damaged during the process and, to date (over a month later), has not been replaced. Blue Raven has sent two different "handymen" out who can't fix it. We have continuous spouting on our house. You can't just go to Lowes, buy a couple of pieces and stick them together. It has to be done by a continuous spouting installer. That, however, is the least of our problems. Our panels worked for approximately two days after initiation then stopped abruptly. Our last reported data was over two days ago. We have been calling but cannot get someone out until next week to look at it. If I had to guess, I think the second "handyman", who we had to supply with tools, may have damaged the electrical lines when he was attempting to repair the damaged drywall. For some reason he turned a breaker on in our electrical box that is normally off. Maybe because he experienced an arc? Even though it appears the panels are producing energy, we have no power from the panels to the box and a bunch of useless panels on our roof. Sure wish I hadn't already paid the second half of the bill. UPDATE: Someone did finally come to check out our problem. When the drywall was removed, we found singed insulation and a wire that had been damaged , probably by the drywall saw or utility knife used by the handyman. The Blue Raven guy told us he would come back in another week and actually repair it. So, still no active solar system but glad it didn't burn our house down with us in it. UPDATE: It took three weeks but we seem to be back up and running finally. Now we just need some sunshine.

I am new to the solar experience. I decided to go solar through a Blue Raven door to door salesman, which I’m sorry I didn’t check into solar more thoroughly before I bought. Blue Raven as far as I can see is a reputable company with sincere installers. I’m not sure that I feel that way about their sales staff. I am disappointed in the sales pitch and feel I was oversold with the system that I received. I don’t think I was fully informed about the possible options that were available to me but convinced in taking the larger system, which I’ve now discovered, wasn’t necessary. I’m sorry to say that this experience has left me with the same old story of taking advantage of a woman.

Well first off it took 7 months for them to turn it on, normally it should take 3 or 4 months, and the sales man never mention a connection fee from duke power. All he said was you will only get 1 bill , pretty much a bill swap, he average my utility bill for the year and said that's what you be paying , ok cool well that's a no brainer sure I will do it, well didn't know the connection fee would be almost $20 a month, so right off the bat your going to be paying $20 more a month than if you never got solar, and then they didn't install enough solar panels because they didn't calculate it right, and they say it was the sales man and my fault cause it wasn't calculated right because I didn't tell them I had a programmable thermostat , really how did I know that, they gave us a programmable thermostat when panels was installed and the installers were like ,oh you already have one, well I will leave it with anyway, either I have been getting utility bills around $70 a month. It just been a headache, I talk to one of the head people and they said we can put more panels on to off set the cost but you will have to pay for it, umm no I am not, they pretty much said oh well, so pretty much I have been praying for a sunny month , cause if it been cloudy well your going to pay for it, plus don't add anything to your house like a hot tub, more people living with you, another building with a shed or anything that have to do with electricity, cause if I knew right from the start there was a connection fee I would say no, I was trying to save money now I am losing alot of money, plus talk to someone in my neighborhood who has solar and he said that I got RIPPED off, cause his system cost the same as mine but his is almost twice as big

Chris – We understand that this has been a frustrating experience. To try and remedy the situation our director of operations has been in contact with you and offered adding panels at cost. Regarding the quality of your installed system, since this last April, your system has produced 97% of the expected production. You’re seeing a discrepancy in production vs. power bill in part because of the smart thermostat energy reduction that we had included for your system proposal. This energy reduction was a full half page of detail on your system’s bid. We didn’t realize you already had a smart thermostat and as such, you’re not seeing this reduction in consumption. Additionally, your home has a unique pattern of usage that has resulted in your utility company’s annual credit clearing to be particularly impactful on your accrued energy credits. We have offered discounted panels to help remedy the impact of Duke Energy’s clearing policy, but you have denied the offer. If you would like to add panels, our director of operations has offered again to work with you on a pricing structure that works for your unique circumstances. Regardless, with the ever-increasing price of power from Duke, going solar will save you a considerable amount of money. If you would like to discuss adding additional panels, please let us know. We recognize that your situation is unique and would be happy to help make the short-term savings as beneficial as the long term.

Just a heads-up if you're looking into solar- AVOID BLUE RAVEN SOLAR!!!! We were looking forward to having solar installed in our new home. Save the environment- save money- you know... We've had our system for less than a year, and it went down in July of this year. When we purchased the system, we were informed that Blue Raven would monitor the system. Yet, they NEVER LET US KNOW IT WAS DOWN- for TWO MONTHS!!! We got over $400 in unexpected electric bills, and we are STILL are having issues with the production of the system. I've called them SIX times this week to speak to a supervisor. I have yet to speak with someone OTHER than a CSR. Their supervisors are either in meetings or never call you back. Sad and pathetic. BE CAREFUL. THEY WON'T MONITOR YOUR SYSTEM!!!! The CSR will say it was an ' unfortunate miscommunication' when in reality it was outright deception, via training of the staff. They essentially leave you on the side of the road after installation. Another thing- When they had us 'okay' the install, they asked if the placement of the panels was alright. We aren't engineers- it looked fine. Over the winter, we had several instances where the snow slides off of the panels onto our front sidewalk & porch. When I asked if there was anything that could be done before it slides ON to someone & hurts them, they said that it would cost us $$$. It's THEIR install issue. When the snow slides off & injures someone, I'm SURE they'll be hearing from my insurance company & their attorneys. We covered our butt when we were told they wouldn't fix the issue, so the insurance company IS aware of the potential for injury & have photos & copies of our contract w/install photos, as well. Folks, there are MANY other companies that install solar. Avoid the headache & go with them.

Hey Linda,

I'd love to address some of the complaints you raised in your review. First, I have to ask, what could we possibly gain from your system being down? We have everything to lose, including the money that we gave you for the time your panels were down and free labor and parts used to fix your panels.

If your system is down and you notify us, we will put you on the schedule and one of our techs will come and fix it for you as soon as they are available. You bought thousands of dollars of solar panels, and you are the sole owner and proprietor of said panels. In the contract you signed, you agreed that you would operate and maintain your own property. Nowhere in the agreement did we say that we would provide consistent, daily monitoring, but as a courtesy to our customers, we manually check your production at the 6, 12, and 18 month milestones. We also affirmed this in a call with our support in which we asked you if the rep had promised you anything outside of the scope of the installation agreement. You replied that they had not.

I'd love also love to know on what evidence you are basing your claims that we "train" our staff to lie to customers. That doesn't sound like very sustainable business practice, and it is certainly not one that Blue Raven participates in.

Another thing, we place panels so that they will generate the most power from your home. They were not installed there by accident, and we know what we're doing when it comes to making sure that your panels are as efficient as possible.

We're sorry that you feel like you had a negative experience with Blue Raven, and we are willing to work with you to resolve concerns you may have, but it is my job to ensure that BRS is accurately represented online. Feel free to reach out to me at to chat some more.

I've been horribly frustrated with the lack of communication with this company. First, they no-showed at the sales appointment (my first warning sign). I gave them the benefit of the doubt and let the guy reschedule when he called me 2 days later. I wound up going with these guys, and the actual physical installation of the panels themselves, went great, as did the paperwork. But then the electrician no-showed 2 times! Later found out it was a "scheduling issue" with the Utah office (I'm in Colorado), and the contract electrician they use was on vacation. Might want to check that next time I take 2 days off work to be home and your guy no-shows. Then it's time for the inspection. So again, I take time off to be there when the BRS inspector comes, and is supposed to meet the city inspector for sign off. The City inspector doesn't confirm the appointment, but they schedule it anyway. The City inspector doesn't come because they NEVER had the Rough-in Inspection done. They told me they worked that out over the phone with the city, but apparently not, because 2 weeks later, I still have no final inspection, no equipment from the power company installed to convert the power to the grid. I've had solar panels on my roof for over a month and not earning a thing from them. Sales rep tells me 11 days ago and I quote "this is extremely frustrating. I'll have my account manager reach out to you ASAP". (I have it in a text from him). That was September 5th at 3:23 pm. Today is September 16th. BRS, come finish this thing in the next 2 days, or I'm going to take all of your stuff off my roof, cancel the deal and you can come pick it up. I feel bad for your panel installers. Those guys were actually great -- on time, professional and did their job quickly and efficiently. The electrician, when he showed up, was good and professional as well. Your internal scheduling team, and communication with your customers sucks something awful. I'm hoping someone from BRS sees this and reaches out, because they're not returning my calls or texts. I should have gone with SunRun.

So far the only good thing about Blue Raven is the installers were very nice. Horrible customer service and non existent communication with any of the process or to schedule the next step unless I, the customer call them and ask what's next. For as much money as they get from each customer I expected a business that knew how to run properly. Ont of all that it was 10 days of me calling to ask when I can turn on my system after the electrician finished. Never got any call back when I was promised they'd look into to just to be told I could've switched it on 10 days prior and they finally sent instructions. Ok fine once again frustrated but ok finally. Well no I called right back when they website said it didn't recognize me to have a system. Was told on a Friday i would get a call first thing Monday. Surprise, NO CALL. Here we are Wednesday and 15 days now of days my system should've been working. Well finally someone figured out the account was mixed with someone else in the area. Apparently names and pictures and serial numbes were all duplicates on two accounts. Are you kidding me??? I wasn't given any answers as to where all the energy we've accumulated will go since it's being mixed with a whole other system. Absolutely worst experience and if the panels were already installed I would walk away. Don't CHOOSE BLUE RAVEN if you expect anything to be done right.

We used Blue Raven Solar and I would 100% advise to go with literally anyone else. They’ve wasted my time for almost 5 months with no-shows, rescheduling and excuse after excuse. I’m an active duty military member, and I’ve take time off work 5 times now, and had my time completely wasted. They finally installed the panels last week. I was excited to just be done with this company. The final inspection was supposed to be today but again, guess who didn’t show up? Blue Raven Solar failed to have a tech at my house, although I called them this morning to remind them of the inspection. They assured me someone would be here... and they never showed up. The city arrived for the inspection, gave me a hard time for wasting their time and left. So we’re still out in the woods with no end in sight. I’ve been waiting over an hour to get this last inspection rescheduled AGAIN, but honestly, at this point, I won’t be surprised if that takes another month. We also had BRS install an electric panel upgrade, two months ago. Everything is working fine but they still haven’t fixed the drywall in my house. I also noticed this morning that they left ground rods in my garage, that should be in the ground in my backyard, preventing this new system from going up in flames. All in all I would give it zero stars for wasted time if I could.

Rest assured that I and others are keeping an eye on things to ensure that the final steps of the process as well as the additional concerns mentioned are taken care of quickly, efficiently, and correctly. Thank you for your patience.

I am revising my last review to reflect the exact dates because we received an email from Evan H accusing Our review which is an opinion as slander. On May 19 through the 21st I noticed that our system wasn’t producing Solar power according to the app I called customer service on May 21, 2019 and I was told that somebody would be in contact with me within 24 hours. And the 22nd at 4:25 PM 24 hours later I called again to customer service I was told again that somebody will be in touch with me no later than Friday which will be May 24, Nobody ever contacted me. So we did the last review Sunday the 26. On Tuesday the 28th my wife calls and asked to speak to a manager so after talking to him he created a ticket for a technician to come out and look at our system. After investigating and troubleshooting our system He said we needed a New inverter which later that morning he installed. The review that we did on the 26 got posted the same day the installer was here.

Hey,

Sorry for the late response. Originally, you posted flagrantly incorrect dates and information, so thank you for updating your review. I maintain the stance that we diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and sent a crew to fix your issue in record time, just five days after you reported it. I apologize that no one reached back out to you within the time frame you expected.

I'm glad to see that you're saving money again with your solar. I'm sorry that we didn't see eye to eye on this one, but feel free to reach out at any time! We're here to help.

Blue Raven replied with the same cookie cutter response they have been posting. Also, I advise people to just go with Tesla Solar. For the $20K that Blue Raven charged to install a measly 4.72 kW system... Tesla Would have installed a 6.5-7kw system for the same price! To install the needed panels that we actually need to reach 5kW to generate 100% energy as we stated many times since the beginning, Blue Raven is asking us to pay an additional $3k! So $23K for a 5kW system where you can go with Tesla instead and get a 6.5-7kW system for $3k less! Most importantly, they use cheap solar panels made in China where Tesla uses quality/efficient panels made in their Gigafactory 2 photovoltaic cell factory Buffalo, New York.

Joseph - It looks like there’s been a misunderstanding around net metering. Since your system was installed during May, you haven't had an opportunity to build up the necessary utility credits to offset your power bill. Utility credits are generally produced during the spring and fall when the days are still long, but AC usage is down. With your system being so new, you haven't hit this credit production cycle in the year yet. A larger system would have meant purchasing additional panels that would have been impactful for only the first few months before entering the credit cycle. We understand that having a utility bill during this energy transition can be frustrating, which is one reason you were included in the Blue Power Plus promotion for 18 months of free solar power. This lets you go solar and enter the credit cycle without worrying about your solar loan for 18 months. Your system has been producing since May 18, 2018 and has produced within 99% of the kWh expected at this point in the year. Besides entering the credit cycle, additional energy usage falls outside your guaranteed production and doesn't reflect a shortcoming on your system or our calculations. We designed a 4.72 kW system to meet the energy needs you provided us at the beginning of the sales process. As long as you don’t use more energy than previous seasons, your system will offset your utility consumption once you enter the credit cycle. It just needs some time. Solar panels are a long-term investment and we make the annual production guarantee clear in our sales materials and contracts. We will continue to honor the guarantee and ensure that your system is working effectively for you and your family. If you would like to discuss this further, you can reach me, Joseph, at 855-205-2530.

let start at the beginning my 1 appointment for sale person to come to my house wait for hrs to have a no show & no call. So we made a 2nd appointment only to get a call a few day later telling that it wasn't in the system they weren't sure what happen OK we made a 3rd one WOW they showed. The sale person Doug told us we need 29 panels at 35,000 and there be no extra charges what you is what you will pay. then they had a gentlemen look at roof and other thing so the roof was good but it may need to be replaced in 10 yrs or so and if they would need to come back to take the panels down it will be a chage to do that you know what they will 10 yr. from now so we said let do it all together and make it one loan. ok solar system 35,000 roof 6,250 here were it get good there will be ADDITIONAL OF 1,500 FOR rolling it into the loan that the loan co was charging. So I called and asked about what Doug told what you see is what you will pay will you honor what I was told or can you take the 1,500 off the price of the solar I was told no bottom line is that for 1,500 hundred dollars they let me walk and now there out 35,000. I had talked to NC SOLAR gave me a low price BEWARE I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH CO THAT LET THERE SALE SAY WHAT THEY WANT AND NOT HONORING THEM IT CALLED DISHONEST

To ensure that solar doesn't create unexpected issues for our customers, we scheduled technicians to audit the condition of the roof and electrical work of your home. This took place after you spoke with Doug and scheduled the audit. From the audit, we recommended a re-roof because it would have been costly for you to remove panels in several years for roof repairs. With this addition to your loan, the financing company for your system included a financing charge. Blue Raven wouldn't have made any additional profit off of these changes and was only looking out for your interests in the proposed addition of work. Very few of our proposals require adjustments like yours after the audit. In the cases that they do, our customers receive no penalty for choosing to not go forward with their solar project.

I listen to the whole story and am somewhat interested. I provide him lots of my personal information including enough for him to check my credit. He assures me that he will call me the next day and let me know if my house and my credit qualify to move forward. Next day comes and goes and I don't hear from him. A couple of weeks go by without hearing anything. Then I get a letter from this finance company telling me I have a 40k line of credit. Who the heck authorized that? So I have to call them to cancel. Still haven't heard from the guy that caused us to have a very late dinner.

Blue Raven is a terrible company, the product is expensive and the customer service is awful. When you call you always get someone new, they never can answer questions and if you have an issue good luck getting a callback. They are vague, our system was not connected in time and we ended up with a high electric bill and a new payment, which we were told would not be the case. They were not aware of Oregon state regulations in regards to installation so they blamed this on our late service, they also tried to blame PGE, but PGE had verified that 5 other homes in our neighborhood were having the same issues and only one home was actually working. They cracked our support beam in our garage and drove screws through our roof showing through in our underhangs. Very shoddy work. They never come on time, the paperwork is late, they can not explain contracts, they email you weeks after you are suppose to receive information, and text message you different messages than what they talk to you about on the phone, not very organized. AVOID The only person who has been the slightest bit helpful was the sales rep., I would recommend him.

I have a large no soliciting sign 1" under my doorbell for many reasons. The first time Blue Raven showed up was on a week night at 8:30pm. I was shocked they were there so late, disregarded the sign, rang my doorbell and proceeded to lie to me that thy weren't selling me something. I asked them, politely, to leave after telling them we were not interested. I also asked them not to come back. Tonight, Friday night, two new sales people showed up, this time at 7:45pm, rang my doorbell (yes, the sign is still up) and started going through the same shpeel. They're not selling me anything and would like 2 seconds. When I said no and asked them for a second time not to come back the rep raised his eyebrows, rolled his eyes and flippantly said 'well good nigt then'. Seriously! It doesn't matter why I have a no soliciting sign (baby sleeping, barking, old and agitated dogs, not interested, you name it) a company should be respectful of the homeowner's wishes. This sales tactic tells me that their training and customer service is not a priority. After reading other reviews here, I'm not surprised. Not impressed.

I do not have their product but their sales people stopped at my home yesterday. When the asked if I had considered solar energy, I explained I am 100% solar powered at my home. Simple mistake not noticing all the big panels all over my garage, right. At this point the company rep. had smart mouth comments about our purchase and the company from whom we purchased. I had been perfectly polite and friendly through the entire conversation. Now, I want the mouthy young man to know that is NO proper sales tactic! I will NEVER recommend his company to anyone who asks me about solar companies! And those who read this may find it as off putting as I do.

Worst company you could go with! I’d give 0 stars if I could. They will lie to your face to get the sale so make sure you read the contract that they rush you to sign. If you cancel (when you learn about things they said that weren’t true) it’s a $1215 cancellation fee which is due within 7 days of cancelling. They won’t work with you at all. HIGHLY recommend if you want solar panels to go with any other company out there!!

Requested information about Solar and to get a quote, went through all the questions, and then I was asked how we receive our income and was told that they don't work with people who received SSI/SSDI..What the heck does that have anything to do with getting Solar?? Oh well someone else will take my business I'm sure. If I could have given zero stars I would have.

I am frustrated ! I was promised by salesman that the credits from solar panels would be applied to my other building . They put up 28,000$ of panels to cover the electric bill I gave which included both buildings. After it was all put up they told me to call the power company to get the credits applied, the power co. told me that in Idaho they don't do that! The salesman sold it to me falsely, 6 months and they still haven't corrected this situation. I need only half the amount they sold me .

Problems with installation, calling and calling and calling and not able to get help for over a month before a manager got back with me. Now it's up and running and we were told that it would cover 100% of our electric usage... NOT!!! Contacted them to see why we were only producing a fraction of what was promised and they said 50% is actually the magic number. Never been so disappointed.

Stay away from this company! We had the solar installed by Blue Raven Solar about a year ago. It has not worked properly since then. It broke down every few WEEKS and we had to wait weeks for someone to come and fix. The amount of time that it worked is less than the time that it did not work. We have been paying for solar and electricity! It's unacceptable. If it does not work in the first year, how is it going to work in 10, 20 years? So disappointed! As I am writing this review, it does not work again.

DO NOT TRUST THESE LIARS!!! Blue Raven Solar is a predatory company. They lie about their $4k reinstallation fee (8 times higher than Vivint). They fail to seal the roof during solar panels installation. They will claim your roof was the problem instead of their shoddy work. They won't cover their mistakes or honor their contract. They will try to buy your silence with a token discount off their extortion (reinstall) fee. I'm not the only one, there are plenty of other reviews about them if you don't want to get ripped off. well worth the 15 minutes to save $4k!

Kara - Our customer operations leadership, as well as director level management, has been working with you on exploring roofing options and discounted pricing. I see that they're currently waiting on some reports from some of the roofers you've been working with. To avoid misunderstandings on services offered, we cover all proposed work in our installation agreement as well as introduction call. We honor our contracts which include workmanship guarantees to ensure that our customer's homes are well taken care of.

Stay away from Blue Raven! They were pushy and their "18 months free" is a scam. After comparing their offer with other companies it wasn't even close. They were extremely overpriced and were deceitful when I asked about the pricing and production I would receive. I finally got them to admit they are just adding 18 months of payments onto the total cost of the system!! This is a very unethical company!

I was told by the salesman that came to my house that the solar would take care of all my electrical uses. And if any thing the power company would pay me for excess power. But now I find out that what was put on my house only takes care of 60% of my power. He lied about everything that I was getting . I now pay more each month or the same as I paid before I got the solar. I would not recommend this solar system to anyone . If I could have it removed I would . I am on a fixed income and this is hitting me hard .

Our solar has been up and running for over a year now. We are very disappointed to this point. While we were promised our power bills would almost go away entirely, that has not been true at all. We have not changed our habits or anything with our home but we continue to receive power bills, sometimes upwards of the amount we used to spend before solar

I told the door to door salesman twice that I was not interested. But he just kept going. so I too an app. The salesman ask why I was interested in solar I told him I wasn't that I told his rep I was not interested. He chuckled and kept going. I had to sign a contract that didn't make me liable for the product. The more I read it is a contract now I have to go through the procedure of canceling it. I don't know what part of not interested they don't understand. Very pushy people that don't take no for an answer.

Funny that the only "honest" review is from Jason, the sales manager for Blue Raven. What a joke! They use cheap, silver framed panels, string inverters and do a bogus down payment for an advertising home. They showed me a proposal where they were giving me a $5000 down payment. They marked up my system 5k and said they are paying for it. They said as long as I give them referrals they wouldn't charge me. Really? Thanks guys. So, a 20,000 system with them costs 25,000 and then they 1099 me for the 5k that they "gave" me. Dishonest company, lousy sales people, and low quality equipment.

Annie Kelsey ,

This company took over 2 weeks to complete solar panels on my roof. They it did not communicate properly with me and we're late majority of the time I was told they're going to show up. Getting notices its complete yet still have a meter waiting to be installed.

Hi Annie, I am sorry about the delays your project faced. Your feedback has been forwarded to management to ensure this type of miscommunication with scheduling does not happen again. Our system sends out a note of completion once the solar panels are installed on your roof. Because it is the responsibility of the utility company to install the net meter, Blue Raven categorizes the project as "complete". I am sorry for any confusion that may have caused. Please reach out to me at reviews@blueravensolar.com if you have any questions in the future. Sincerely, Maddie E., Blue Raven Solar

Initial panel install date: Jan 7, 2020. Date solar went active: Not yet. Local power company (Xcel) came out 3 weeks ago and told me the electrical box was wired wrong. No one from Blue Raven has told me it is fixed, nor when the power company is supposed to come back out and turn it on.
