Hertz is great. It’s a little more expensive than other rental cars, but it’s a really great service especially when you’re a member. When you get out of the shuttle, the car is already ready for you.

We have used Hertz several times and we have a decent experience each time. It does seem that the quoted rate and what we end up paying jumps up a lot. They seem to add things in without letting you know what you are doing is adding cost

I enjoy renting cars through Enterprise. In my last experience, enterprise’s line at the airport moved much faster than all the others. We got our car quickly. It was a very nice car.

We booked a vacation through an online booking site which included reserving a rental car to use through Hertz at our destination. We arrived and went to the Hertz rental area and were told that our "reserved" car was unavailable. The agent offered a "free" upgrade which ending up costing over $200 more when we received our bank statement later that month. Neither Hertz nor the travel service were willing to budge since we didn't actually get the "free upgrade" in writing. Lesson learned. Neither Hertz rent a car or that particular travel service will be seeing any more business from us. Always, always, always get any offer or deal in writing.

Hertz made it such an easy experience for me while my car is currently being repaired, I got my rental for only $150 that week and they even volunteered to refill the tank with no extra charge for me!

I personally have had pretty negative customer service experiences with Hertz. We have struggled and been wrongly biased against just because we were under 21. We have been sent to several locations and given bad cars. Although the problem was eventually corrected in the end I think sales reps for Hertz need a little more training when errors on their end do occur. I think policies should also be given when rental cars are booked online versus in person.

Great car renting experience. We flew into Phoenix and rented a Kia Sorento. It was wonderful. They o ou thing that I ha e to say that was negative was the extremely long line we had to wait in to actually get the rental. Took over 20 mins.

I've used Hertz multiple times throughout the years when my car was being repaired because they were affiliated with my insurance company. While I haven't been able to pick which rental company I use, I will say everyone is always friendly and the process for picking up and dropping off is very simple.

We have used Hertz rental after flying and needing a car to get around. Typically the staff is friendly, but can be a little harried when their day is busy at the airport. They usually have a decent selection of midsize sedans to choose from and their cars are clean.

I was sent to Phoenix for work without notice. All the other rental companies were out of cars except Hertz. Not only did they have the size vehicle that I needed but the gave me a discount because I had to wait for them to bring it up to the check out. Their cars are always clean and smoke free which is a huge plus to me.

Unresponsive customer service. Hertz rented me a vehicle with over 55,000 miles on the odometer. During my rental the key fob became inoperative and would not unlock the doors. The lock cylinder for the physical key was also broken. I could not unlock the car. I was stranded at a remote location with no cell service after completing an 85 mile backpacking trip. The vehicle also had no spare tire. Hertz Customer Service has been unresponsive to my request for customer satisfaction. (Rental Record # 124017832)

My wife left her GPS in the car upon returning it. Several hours later she received a call from the counter in Fort Wayne Airport that the GPS was found and would be mailed to her. It was never sent and follows up calls to the counter (I spoke with Dan) are always a waste of time. I'm told someone will call and they never do. The place employs THIEVES AND LIARS.

My family and I have had a horrible experience with Hertz, and we will never use them again. We took a trip to Puerto Rico, and used Hertz for a 2 week long car rental. The car was filthy dirty, the people straight up lied to us about the pass that we now (a year later) being bombarded with mail to pay (even though we paid it while we were there). The rental was technically in my daughters name, and the customer service representative that took our car return stalked her on social media after and was privately messaging her inappropriate messages. We will not be using them again.

Rental went fine until 4 months later they surprise me with a claim on a damage I did not cause. Never call first... I know I didn't damage the car and the parking lot is not protected... I can't believe the customer service. Damage doesn't seem to be legit. I have additional insurance and the amount isn't high but it's just poor poor service or insurance scam (in which I will not participate).

Experiences seem to differ by location. Not every car has been properly maintained, and more than once I've been given a car that has glaring defects/problems, but when I try and swap out for a different car there aren't any available. Maybe cars that have issues shouldn't be getting rented out...
