Panopto LMS

Panopto is a company that believes in their product and shows it with the incredible support they provide. The Software has a ton of functionality and checks a lot of boxes for what we were looking for in a video creation and management tool. It has also fulfilled our live streaming needs and video quizzing integrated into our Canvas LMS grades. Where it struggles is in making itself intuitive to the end user. The Recorder has incredible capabilities built in but makes it difficult for a first time user or someone that is coming back to it after awhile to record a simple webcam only video. They have made some improvements with a guided tour the first time you open the application and are aware of the issue and given their passion for their product I know they will only improve this piece. Overall I highly recommend the tool as it has provided us with a lot of benefits and they have been a pleasure to work with.

I love how easy Panopto makes it to record lectures. This is very beneficial to me and other college students because professors can record their lectures and post them for review. I use Panopto to catch up if I missed a day of class or I need to review something before the test. I love that I don't have to stress about writing everything down in lectures and worrying I will miss something because it will always be recorded. The video and sound quality have always been good and there haven't been any issues with my lectures.

We primarily use Panopto for lecture capture and distance learning. Using Panopto for training and meeting recordings is something that we are just starting to leverage. Having a place to centrally store, share and search through videos has been a great value to our institution. Our integration with Panopto to D2L has provided a simple solution for instructors and students to interact 'face-to-face', even if they are located around the world.
