Guaranteed Benefits for Employers

Rain Instant Pay is a free service for employers who offer Rain to their employees.

However, employees aren’t the only ones benefiting from Rain’s services. The company claims that employers will see a 200 percent increase in job applications, a 40 percent lower turnover among employees, and 86 percent of employees improving their job performance.

Access Wages Any Time

Rain Instant Payeasily integrates with most payroll systems and employees can easily view and manage their wages on Rain’s smartphone app.

QED’s (Rain’s founding investor) co-founder Nigel Morris has this to say about the software, “Rain gives the power to the worker, allowing them to take back control over their financial lives and receive the money they’ve earned without having to wait until payday. At QED, we call this income streaming, and we’re the most active investor in the trend globally because we have seen how it empowers employees and helps employers improve retention, productivity, and recruiting. We couldn’t be more excited for Rain to bring this social-impact model to millions of Americans.”

The Bad

  • Withdrawal Fee

Withdrawal Fee

Although Rain Instant Pay is virtually free, employees will have to pay a fee. The company states that the fee is much like an ATM fee and appears whenever an employee withdraws his/her wages through the app. We should note the company has free options, including the following:

  • $0 fee to transfer funds to a bank account
  • $0 fee to transfer funds to a Netspend Skylight ONE card
  • Small fee to transfer funds to another pay card or debit card

The Bottom Line

According to Rain’s website, over $170 billion was spent by Americans while they waited on their next paycheck. This number includes payday loan fees, credit card fees, overdraft fees, and low-balance fees. To help put an end to predatory products and payday loans, Rain Instant Pay is free to all employers.

The software smoothly integrates with most payroll systems, and employees can simply download the mobile app to their phone. The app allows employees to withdraw their paycheck whenever and wherever they are.

Hi Carmen, can you please send us an email at care@rain.us so we can resolve this? Some employers do require Rain users to report their own hours - but your employer might not.

I can’t get ahold of anybody. I have called them everyday for a week, emailed them on multiple occasions, and texted them. I’ve never received one response. Today, almost every hour I tried to call them and their automated system told me that all of their customer service representatives are busy and to call back later. It was all day and it happened yesterday too so I don’t understand. It would be a great app if it worked but Rain doesn’t recognize my email even though it’s in my employers file and I can’t get ahold of anyone. I’ve talked to a few people who have had the same problem.

This app is poorly managed. So many issues too many to count. The staff is lovely but whomever created the app is not lovely. They advertise that you can be paid daily. After a week of work my hours were approved and I downloaded my pay - well not all of it - only 20 hours out of 24 hours worked. When I inquired about the additional 4 hours they stated I should not have been able to access funds for my approved hours, suspended my account and disallowed me the ability to add in more hours worked for this week... I am done - too much hassle

Hi Catherine! I am so sorry to hear about any trouble you've had and any confusion. You would be able to get paid "daily" from Rain if you worked every day - basically, we get your wage rate and your worked hours approved from your employer, and then calculate 50% of that. It's 50% to allow for taxes and other garnishments. I'm not sure what happened with your account suspension, but I've forwarded this to our customer success team for investigation. Thank you so much for your patience and your honest feedback. This is not the level of service we strive for and we'll be looking into this today to see what we can do.

The customer service is pretty horrid. I can occasionally get a hold of someone but it will be hours or days on a reply. That is if they reply at all.
