Technology

Curve Dental operates using state-of-the-art cloud-based technology. This means that all of your practice’s information, patient records, and other important documents are stored securely on the internet and can be accessed from any device with internet access.

Cloud-based technology eliminates the need for large servers to store data on location, and is more secure in the case of a natural disaster, fire, etc. because your data can be accessed online.

Because Curve is cloud based, it can be updated automatically whenever necessary, so that you can come to work with the most recent updates already installed and ready to go. Curve has been in the business of writing cloud software for over 10 years, and it has an uptime performance of 99.99 percent.

As far as we can tell, Curve is the only practice management software to publish its uptime performance.

Security

When you use Curve Hero, a cloud-based software, your data is actually stored offsite, which makes compliance with HIPAA regulations much simpler. Plus, with Curve, the accuracy and integrity of your data is ensured through continuous backup to Amazon Tier 1 Web hosting. Annual security audits are included with your regular fees.

Cost

Curve Hero costs the same as hiring a full-time employee (40 hours per week) and paying them $3.50 per hour. That fee is not charged per site, so even if you have multiple locations, you pay the same amount. You will be charged an extra $100 per additional dentist, but you can be confident that you will not encounter any hidden fees. This is one of the most affordable dental softwares we’ve seen, and in fact, many do not even share their pricing online. 

Training

Curve has a team of trainers to help implement its software in your practice and educate your staff on effective dental practice management. All trainers are carefully screened and tested before they begin training, and they are all experienced in managing dental practices and using Curve Hero in the real world.

Training is conducted in 90-minute sessions over time, for better retention and effectiveness. Curve Hero’s training is all either web based or phone based, so you don’t have to close your practice or send your staff to a different location to get trained.

Completely Internet Based

Customers have complained that since Curve cannot operate without the internet, you cannot work offline or access your dental practice system if the internet is down.

If you use Curve Hero and the internet goes down for an extended period of time, you are basically helpless and can’t fulfill your job responsibilities until you have internet connection again.

Lacks Some Functionalities

Curve Hero’s charting feature lacks some functionalities that we would like to see, such as saving progress as you go so that when you delete something, you don’t have to start over, and being able to compare exams on one page without having to click back and forth between them. Customers have complained about these and other features that Curve Hero’s charting function lacks.
