ShoeDazzle was founded in 2009 by Kim Kardashian, Robert Shapiro, Brian Lee, and M.J. Eng. It is headquartered in El Segundo, California.
ShoeDazzle specializes in women’s shoes, bags, accessories and clothes. It is a subscription clothing service. Every month customers that opt to be VIP members are charged a certain amount and can then use the money to buy clothes from a personalized boutique compiled by company stylists.
VIP Members also receive up to 25 percent off retail prices and have access to special sales, previews, and other events online. VIP Members can skip a month by logging into their online account and selecting this option by the fifth of each month. Basic Customers can shop the site as desired and with no monthly obligation. Both VIP Members and basic customers receive free shipping over $49 and free returns or exchanges.
ShoeDazzle’s prices are affordable. The vast majority of its items are under $100 and most are well below that price point. It also runs sales for its VIP Members often that are very generous. While this profile was being written, it was running a shoe promotion for VIP Members that lowered the price of many of its shoes to just $10. While its items are affordable, customers should be aware that the quality may match the price. Many online reviewers commented on receiving items that were low quality.
If you love shopping from a huge inventory and large variety of changing clothing, shoe, and accessory items each month then you will enjoy ShoeDazzle’s ever-rotating inventory. New items are listed frequently, and the company is focused on providing its customers with the latest styles.
When you sign up for the VIP Membership, you agree to a monthly charge ($39.95 when this profile was written) also referred to as a "credit." You can spend it that month or save it for another month. If you decide that you would like to skip a month, you log into your account and select "skip the month" by the fifth, and your credit card will not be charged. If you do not select this option between the first and the fifth of each month, your credit card will be charged the member credit fee. You are able to skip as many months as you want.
Members can also cancel their VIP Membership anytime although, inconveniently, they must call ShoeDazzle’s customer service phone number to do so.
ShoeDazzle offers customers and VIP Members free shipping on orders over $49. This is midrange for the clothing industry. Many offer free shipping on orders over $25 and many only offer free shipping with a minimum much higher than ShoeDazzle’s. On its website, ShoeDazzle makes it seem that only VIP Members enjoy free shipping; however, basic customers will as well.
Returns are not entirely free but exchanges are. ShoeDazzle offers three return options: free return for ShoeDazzle store credit, return for a refund in the original form of payment, or free exchange for the same item in a different size. There are extra charges and limitations with orders that ship to or from Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, and APO/FPO addresses.
ShoeDazzle does have a good selection of sizing, but it could be better in line with competitors that offer additional size options. Many, but not all, of its clothing items are available in sizes XXS–3X. It does not have petite sizing, specific plus size items, or maternity. If you typically look for these size options, then you will want to consider a different clothing subscription option.
ShoeDazzle only carries products for women. Several other large competitors offer clothing subscription and styling services for men and children, making it a convenient option for the whole family.
The VIP Membership at ShoeDazzle costs $39.95 per month. It gives customers access to a customized showroom of items each month and will be applied to items you purchase. This fee is higher than many of its competitors. It can also become very expensive if you forget to skip a month when you don’t plan to purchase and are still charged. There is a very narrow window (between the first and fifth of each month) during which you can skip a month to avoid the charge. The good news is that your VIP Credits roll over if unspent and do not expire.
While ShoeDazzle has many happy customers, there are repeated online reviews that mention quality issues with its shoes and clothing. Several online reviewers complained that shoes arrived in damaged or apparently used condition. Other reviewers mention that its shoes run very small and are made of cheaper materials, or that shoes fall apart after very little use.
ShoeDazzle is an online women’s retailer of shoes, accessories, and clothing that is both a fashion subscription service and a traditional retailer. Customers can shop for items on its website anytime. You may also opt to become a VIP Member in order to receive personal stylist services monthly along with special sales. We were impressed with the discounts that VIP Members receive, and it would likely be worth becoming a VIP member just to access these lower prices.
If you are not good at keeping track of online subscriptions and you don’t plan to shop at ShoeDazzle each month, you should be careful about signing up for its membership. You could end up with a large amount of monthly credits charged to your credit card. One downside to its membership is that you are limited to a monthly subscription. Other fashion services with stylists and similar features offer customers subscriptions that can be spaced out monthly, every other month, every third month, or even just on-demand no subscription required.
We like that ShoeDazzle VIP members can cancel anytime. The company also has a huge selection of clothes, shoes and accessories that change often and that are very on-trend at a great price.
