Before you dive into getting a virtual number, you need to know that many countries have an unrestricted policy for Virtual Phone Number allocation. You might be required to provide documentation.
While purchasing a number, you will be asked to send or upload the required documentation. Once you’ve completed the purchase, the information will be transferred to the local carrier (who will then review it).
Your DID might not be activated until your local carrier approves the documents, which SendMyCall states could take up to 48 hours.
While we appreciate SendMyCall including this information on its site — as well as a list of all the countries and their documentation requirements — we believe this information should be more prominently displayed on the site. That way consumers aren’t confused when their number doesn’t start working right away.
