One great thing about Sun Country is their impressive efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. In fact, according to their website, they are one of the most environmentally friendly airlines around. Here are some of the ways Sun Country is going green: -Over 90% of the food served on Sun Country flights is from Minnesota, which saves resources typically used for shipping food -A paperless airline, Sun Country significantly reduces waste by allowing travelers to print their own tickets and itineraries -Sun Country flies Boeing 737-800's, which have the lowest carbon emissions per seat of any aircraft in its size class After 33 years in business, it's clear they have had practice addressing issues and doing their best to make things right for consumers. According to their website, Sun Country has been listed as one of the Top Ten Domestic Airlines by Travel+Leisure magazine for five years in a row and Conde Nast Travelers magazine for three years in a row. Sun Country offers travel insurance, called UFlex, that allows passengers to make up to three time, date, destination and name changes on their flight itinerary without paying change fees. The only fee that may be accrued is the difference between the original purchased ticket and an upgraded ticket. This impressive package is available for only $30 per passenger. The UFly Rewards program is another great feature offered to Sun Country customers that allows members to earn rewards for points earned rather than dollars spent. Points can be earned from plane ticket purchases, First Class upgrades, Sun Country Airlines Visa Signature credit card purchases, and partner purchases (LifeLock, Hertz and 1-800-FLOWERS.COM). Benefits of UFly Rewards include:
As if that wasn't enough to get you all warm and fuzzy at the thought of flying with Sun Country, reports over the last two months (May 1, 2015 to June 30, 2015) show an on-time percentage of 86% with only 2% of flights being excessively late.
While people seem to be pleased with their Sun Country experience, the reality is the airline doesn't offer service to very many locations. With only around 35 destinations across the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, many sought-after destinations are not yet available. The fact that none of their planes are currently equipped with Wi-Fi capability is a notable ding on a passenger's idea of a convenient, comfortable flight experience. With the increased demand for Wi-Fi availability, Allegiant hopes to offer this feature to customers in the near future.
