Cronometer, sometimes styled CRON-O-Meter, is a nutrition tracking app for consumers and healthcare professionals, available via web app, as well as iOS and Android mobile apps.
Not only does it count calories, but it tracks more than 60 nutrients for more than 300,000 foods, so that you can visually see how to get the nutrients your body needs to fully function, while still reducing caloric intake. It comes in a free version, a paid version, and a version for health and wellness professionals.
It shows your BMI and BMR and can be used for keto, paleo, Atkins, low carb, vegan, and vegetarian diets.

Cronometer uses in-depth nutritional data from various sources and offers to track over sixty different nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The app database has over 300,000 items ready to be imported into your food diary.
While some food/calorie trackers offer a database of user-generated data, Cronometer uses a curation team to make sure the most accurate data is available for food items in its database.
When you want to add a food item to the database, all submissions are reviewed and edited to ensure that accurate information is shown.
They include lab analyzed data sets from the following:
If you are eating packaged foods, you can use the app’s barcode scanner. Once entered, data comes from the Cronometer Community Database (CRDB), ESHA Research, Inc. (ESHA), and Nutritionix.
Cronometer has been adding to its list of compatible fitness tracker devices. Currently, the app is able to integrate with the following product lines:
Adding one of these compatible devices allows you to integrate additional data about sleep, physical activity, heart rate, and blood pressure with your daily intake data.
The Cronometer apps use a stylish graphical design with lots of colors to differentiate different goals and nutrients.
In both the App Store and Google Play, there are two versions of the app, one is ad-free and the other has ads. While each app allows users to upgrade to Gold, the ad-free version offers a one-time $2.99 fee to use the free version (NOT GOLD), but just without the ads.
It can be a little confusing for users who have in the past paid the one-time fee to delete ads, but then add the wrong version to a new phone. However, it's a simple fix. Just delete the app and re-download the ad-free version to continue with your already paid for, ad-less experience.
It is a little bit harder to add new recipes to Cronometer. The app doesn’t offer an import from URL or copy/paste option for full recipes. You can add only add ingredients one at a time. However, once you create a custom recipe, it is saved in your account for future use.
If you are looking for a way to track your exercise and calorie intake, this is a good option, with an emphasis on reliable, accurate database of foods and colorful, graphical formatting.
If you often want to add custom recipes, it may take a little longer than with other food tracking apps, due to the software’s emphasis on simple ingredients, which allows for the most accurate nutritional data available.
Users can try the free version or upgrade to ad-free from $2.99, or the Gold package with added features for $5.99 a month, $24.95 for six months, or just $34.95 for a full year. Compared to MyFitness Pal’s $9.99 per month or $49.99, you will save money.
