Teladoc is a telemedicine company that provides medical care for members by phone, video, and app. Teladoc lives under the umbrella of Teladoc Health, which also owns other telemedicine brands including BetterHelp, the world’s largest online counseling service.
Teladoc offers its members adult and pediatric general care, such as routine checkups; mental health care, such as talk therapy; specialized care, such as dermatology; and preventive care, such as help with quitting smoking.

Ease of Use
New Teladoc members can set up their account in minutes via the Teladoc website, app, or even over the phone. Teladoc appointments are available by phone, app, and online video, giving members plenty of avenues to receive virtual care.
Locations
Teladoc is available all over the world, with local in-person care available in all 50 United States, in addition to South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. No matter where a Teladoc member is located, there’s a Teladoc provider near them.
Integration
Some telemedicine patients choose to use Teladoc in addition to a traditional, in-person primary care provider. Users who go this route can give Teladoc permission to share information about their virtual visits with their primary care physician, so their entire care team is up to date on their condition.
Availability
Teladoc provides its members with access to doctors, nurses, and specialists 24/7. Teladoc members have access to the care they need whenever they need it, day or night.
Prescriptions
Teladoc sends prescriptions to the pharmacy of the patient’s choice, making getting prescription medications easy and accessible.

The Bottom Line
Teladoc provides virtual medical care for its members through its app, over the phone, and via video chat. Its medical services include routine care for adults and children, mental health, specialized care, and preventive care.
With multiple platforms, locations all over the world, and 24/7 availability, Teladoc is extremely accessible and easy to use. Teladoc members can even share information about their Teladoc visits with third party primary care physicians, if they see outside doctors. And members can have their prescription medications sent to any pharmacy of their choice.
One downside to Teladoc is that its doctors can’t prescribe controlled substances. However, this probably isn’t a major concern unless a potential member foresees needing a prescription for a controlled substance.
For those looking for a telemedicine company with plenty of locations and round-the-clock availability, Teladoc is worth exploring.
