Vista HRMS is a comprehensive Human Resource Management System. It tracks employee benefits, payroll, recruiting and self-service software application that enables organizations to minimize the time invested in administrative activities. It streamlines HR processes and facilitates strategic decision-making capabilities. Functional elements include workflow, tax management, recruitment, staffing, position management, training management, COBRA compliance, OSHA, Worker's Compensation compliance, FMLA management, performance management and compensation management. Vista HRMS provides information for strategic planning and decision-making. Their self-service capability for employees and managers reduces the administrative burden within human resource departments and payroll departments and increase productivity across the entire workforce. Customers can receive assistance access through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on a 24/7/365 basis. For customer convenience PDS offers product implementation by three different options; On-Premise, Hosted License and Software as a Service (SaaS). With the Hosted License and SaaS options, PDS will manage Vista HRMS, your database, operating system, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and hardware at its Class A Data Center. Both are "single tenant" deployments meaning each company is set up with an individual system configured for their individual use on their own database. Access to each company's individual system is available 24/7/365 with full mirrored site backup and disaster recovery. There is no minimum contract term with Hosted License option and a three year minimum term with the SaaS option. All three options provide companies with three distinct database environments - Training, Test and Production. No other vendor offers what PDS offers in terms of accessibility, personalization and security as a company's system is deployed through the security of a VPN. When training with the Vista HRMS program students train using live software in real-world situations. They learn the software within the context of day-to-day problems, not from a technical writer's script. Vista HRMS instructors also use a hands-on, interactive model that stresses personal communication and builds a relationship between trainer and trainee. Field-driven training teaches people how to use software. As an additional option, not found with other HRMS programs, a company may choose to outsource operational functions such as tax filing, and printing of checks, deposit advices, W-2s or T-4s, whichever way, Vista is deployed. Our Service Level Agreement (SLA), PDS' commitment to provide a secure, reliable and accessible solution, is available on request. Unlike other programs that require the use of two distinct systems for Canadian and U.S. , Vista HRMS has competent cross border capabilities to manage both Canadian and U.S. employees in a single database. Vista HRMS is one of the most comprehensive programs we have found for human resource management. They are one of the few software providers who offers an extensive policy tracking feature which helps human resource departments better manage the vast needs for each employee.

No pricing is available online and there are no website links directing potential customers to pricing consulting. There is also no information regarding a free trial listed as being available for customers to review before buying. While offering extensive employee review options they do not offer 360 degree employee appraisal tracking, a beneficial options for employee feedback from all customers who interact with employees. Other aspects Vista HRMS does not cover are applicant tracking, career development planning, compliance management, expense reporting, timesheets, and travel management. Vista HRMS offers extensive training for all of their software features however almost every class is a multi-day course which creates a longer implementation time. However with the extended training schedules customer reviews do mention that training/startup was rushed which created improper set up complications. The only language available within the software is English creating limitations for companies nationally and worldwide. Vista HRMS is ideal for employees that have more than 250+ employees. For smaller organizations this software may not be the best fit. Some complaints have been made by customers using Vista HRMS involving their payroll application. These complaints cover the process of manual check writing be long and drawn out and a lack of system alerting the user of issues before employees having to bring attention to the problem with their human resource department. Customers may not feel comfortable having most of their information sourced out to a third party partner. Vista HRMS has a list of 15 partners that help them process company information and for companies that try to do benefit information in house this may cause implementation complications.

The Bottom Line

Vista HRMS is a great fully comprehensive option for mid-size to large companies (250+). They cover the broadest range of human resource department responsibilities and have an extensive partnership with many companies that make policy implementation easy and accurate for companies in both the USA and Canada. With customer assistance available virtually anytime, as well as full mirrored site backup and disaster recovery, customers can feel confident that their software is secure and that help is available anytime it's needed. Vista HRMS employee appraisal application does not cover the same feedback options as other software applications available, and they lack other minor management services but, over all they help with more human resource needs than many similar companies on the market. For any company looking to better support their employee needs and HR department resources with strong software, training options and employee tracking capabilities Vista HRMS would be a good fit.
