The Good

  • Amenities
  • Locations
  • Positive feedback
La Quinta Inn & Suites advertises its promise to provide free high quality amenities for all guests in general but business travelers in particular to "relax, recharge and enjoy". These free amenities include:
  • free Bright Side Breakfast®
  • free high-speed Internet
  • exclusive Bright Morning Bed® with a pillowtop mattress.
The hotel's business centers have flat-panel HDTVs and spacious, bright in-room work areas with ergonomic "task" chairs. Swimming pools are said to be available at most locations. There is also an on-site gym or complimentary passes to a local gym. Most La Quinta Inns are conveniently located near restaurants and shopping malls. Room types and setting vary by hotel. Company-owned hotels are standardized. Franchised hotels vary more. Each guest room has a:
  • television
  • iron
  • hair dryer
  • coffee maker
Positive feedback from guests typically revolves around the free breakfast options and the pillowtop beds:
  • Breakfast offers both cold and hot options. The first morning fresh fruit salad was provided but only bananas and apples were on the buffet the other two mornings.
  • Hot options varied from day to day with make your own waffles, instant oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes remaining a constant. Cold options included yogurt, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, breakfast pastries.
  • Breakfast buffet staff were very attentive and refilled things constantly. Hot sauce is provided.
  • The Beauty Rest pillow top mattress is so comfy...sheets are soft, and the pillows are great. One guest commented on it at checkout and the staff gave her a card with the information about the mattress, and purchased one for her home.

The Bad

  • Authenticity
  • Consistency
  • Complaints
La Quinta may have some authenticity issues regarding its Spanish/South Western themed décor that makes it unique. Unfortunately, the southern roots of the architecture have been watered down by its franchising of older hotel chains like the former Budgetel Inn. Speaking of the franchised hotels, they lack consistency in amenities, so guests can have totally opposite experiences at two different hotels in the same area.  The company-owned hotels have standardized accommodations, but which ones do and don't will be something guests have to find out after they get to the hotel and check in (i.e. when it's too late). Standard complaints:
  • usually no on-site dining on the premises (outside of the free breakfast)
  • Towels provided on the first day of stay were good, but the next two days the towels provided had definitely seen a lot of wear, were both rough and greyish rather than white.
  • The toiletries were okay but guests recommend bringing your own if you like a bit of luxury.
  • No ketchup provided with breakfast. Have to bring your own.
  • Rooms facing the street are loud throughout the night and early morning.
gavel

The Bottom Line

If you're going for the Spanish theme, you may be disappointed. The building may also lack updating on the outside. Once inside, guests are typically impressed with the accommodations. Amenities vary from one hotel to the next depending on if it is a company-owned hotel or if it a franchise. Franchises function a bit more independently and may not be up to the La Quinta brand standards. Prices are reasonable-especially when getting hotel discounts through a third party or membership benefits, but people generally wouldn't say it is worth paying regular price. Major highlights include the full service hot and cold breakfast and the trademarked pillow top mattresses and pillows in the guest rooms. Guests also will appreciate the hotel being pet-friendly and having free internet access. Non-smokers will love the 100% smoke-free premises but smokers will not share the same sentiment.

I pre-paid for a night at the La Quinta Inn at 7550 Remcon Circle, El Paso, TX. I was on a road trip and got there late (around 2AM). They told me they had already given my room away because I was late, even though it was pre-paid through Expedia. They told me they had no rooms available and I had to go find another place to stay. Later when I tried to dispute it with Expedia, the hotel claims that I was a no-show and that they had plenty of rooms. Would not recommend to anyone who might possibly show up late since they will give your room away and then deny it. My kid and I had to stay in a different La Quinta further down the road which cost $25 more for our one night stay but it was better than the nothing that we got at this lousy place. Don't stay at the La Quinta at 7500 Remcon Circle in El Paso, TX if you can help it.

When I booked the room the website stated they had a continental breakfast, a fitness center, and a pool. When we arrived they had discontinued the breakfast due to covid and they offered us a chocolate muffin and a granola bar each day. They closed the fitness center and did not offer any sort of remedy. They refused to clean the rooms throughout the week, pick up the trash, bring extra towels, or bring fresh linens. When we went to the desk and asked for more towels they repeatedly questioned us about why we wanted more towels. We rented a scooter and they refused to allow the company to drop it off at the desk, even though the other hotels in the area do that. When we checked out, we asked if they could hold our luggage for a few hours, and they refused. This is probably the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel!

I checked into my 2 bed room on June 27th 2021 at the Laquinta Inn North 1711 Rollins way in Columbus Ga. Staying with me was my 11 year old daughter and my 2 nieces ages 10 and 11. As I got to the room the GM was calling the phone in the room to tell me I had too many people in my room. He told me he was was coming to my room to count how many people were in there. The Gm actually came up to my room standing 2 feet away from me (without a mask on) yelling, disturbing guest, embarrassing, harassing and insulting me in front of my family. The Gm told me we had to leave HIS hotel for absolutely no reason at all. I was called a liar, I was told multiple times about how he had to put PEOPLE out for throwing parties in HIS hotel. I did not have any balloons, cake nor ice cream for the Gm to repeatedly tell me to pack my things up and leave. Angela, the FDC called me a liar and told me I told her I was only having 3 people in my room (I asked her was she calling me a liar and she said YES) . In the end the GM called the police on me to have my family and I escorted out of the hotel. Keep in mind that I spotted 2 separate families check in before me that had 5 people in their group (2 adults and 3 kids)!!! I was racially profiled and stereotyped as soon as I checked in for being black and having kids. He screwed up a relaxing and fun day I had planned for my family and he also took my hard earned points and I would like to know why!

This is our 5th stay at La Quinta Inn in Mesilla Valley. Every year has been good, except last year and this year being the worst. It started with the manager getting into it with my husband because he had called in ahead of time to request we be away from the dog section due to barking dogs throughout the night during one of our stays. We wanted a restful sleep if possible. She said they don’t take that type of request and he said a staff member asked if he had any special requests when he originally made the reservation. She seemed to get upset stating he was racist against dogs. It was blown out of proportion. The manager even threatened to cancel our reservation. Unbelievable!! We had no housekeeping service until the later part of the 2nd day and that was only to change the 1 small overflowing trash can in the bathroom. There was no further housekeeping for the remainder 5 days. No clean wash cloths or towels, no replacement shampoo or soap. I had to go to the Dollar Tree to buy cups, shampoo and soap. No beds made. There’s not even a pen or scrap piece of paper to write on. The outlet covers have been covered with a plastic plate, so there very few outlets to use. We had to unplug the lights and clock to use that outlet to charge our phones. Sink constantly stops up and you have to wait for it to drain. Curtains don’t close all the way because they are ripped and hanging from the top. We had a smashed cockroach stuck to the wall by our bed. The hallway and stairs never looked like they have been vacuumed. We felt like we were the housekeeping with having to bag and empty our own garbage. It should’ve been brought up to us when we checked in that there would be no housekeeping service and if we needed anything to come to the front desk. That was never stated at all. We are beyond disappointed and most likely will not return here.

DON'T GO TO THE BOHEMIA, NY - LA QUINTA UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET COVID- IT'S FILTHY, AND GROSS!!!! We have been to the Bohemia, NY -La Quinta multiple times. This time was during the Pandemic, and what we saw was truly dangerous and horrifying. I was uneasy staying at a hotel during the Pandemic, but was assured by the La Quinta website that they were going ALL OUT in terms of cleaning and disinfecting. I brought my disinfectant wipes anyway, just to be sure. THANK GOD I DID!! This room hadn't even been swept out (tons of hair on the bathroom floor, dirty light switch, and fawcett ) YUCK!! When I cleaned off the air conditioner (it's summer, so everyone is using it, windows didn't open!) I could have scraped the nastiness, food, grease, filth, and fingerprints off the surfaces with my fingernail. My GOD, this place hasn't been properly cleaned in many, many guests. EVERYTHING was filthy!!! All surfaces that I cleaned with a wipe, came back with black filth, hair, grease, you name it. If it hadn't been so late when we arrived, we would have slept in our car to avoid this place. So, if this is how they're cleaning the surfaces, you think they're disinfecting the air with disinfectant spray, and switching on the air conditioners, and fans? Well our room was warm when we arrived and smelled of mildew. It turns out when we checked in the morning that the air conditioner had been leaking onto the carpeting (no wonder they had switched it off!) We did let the front desk know about our concerns on our way out. They said "oh sorry". What the heck is wrong with the front desk staff, cleaners, management, and the Wyndham organization that owns it, is there no oversight. P.S. I first tried to leave my comments on their website, but surprise, surprise, when you hit "submit" nothing happens, so there is no recourse, but a bad review. How sad, they don't even want to know how bad their hotels are. Save your health, and possibly your life... DON'T stay at the BOHEMIA, NY - La QUINTA

I stayed Marysville, Wa. 2nights @LaQuinta w/my 2 children. I noticed they charged my credit card $250 after I checked out. I called Mon, Tues, Thur, & Fri. Finally spoke to supervisor which I found out later he was manager (Joe A). He tell me there was missing top sheet & 2 towels. Myself or my children did not take NOTHING from this hotel. My Children & I didn't even get into the bed, we slept on top of the comforter w/our own blankets & pillows. Joe A told me he would refund me 1/2 my money. Which I have not seen yet. I would rather have all my money back therefore I have never stolen anything from anyone or anybody in my life. When I called the hotel not once did anyone return my call, not once. Joe told me Friday "oh I was just going to call you" but no reason why he didn't return my call all week? I'm so disappointed & felt there accusing me of theft. I'm so angry & disappointed with this hotels customer service........ I was staying 2nights in this hotel because I was getting my bathrooms remodeled in my home.

I made reservations for the LaQuinta Hotel in Waxahachie, TX located at 311 Stadium Drive. Upon my arrival on Sunday, March 1, I waited for over 9 minutes for the desk clerk to process my prearranged stay. I had reserved my room in advance yet was still delayed in my attempt to check in. When I questioned the reason for the delay, I received no satisfactory answer. Upon receiving my room key to Room 323, I used the less than clean elevator with a problematic control panel door to arrive on the third floor. I found the room and when I opened the door, I found it to be occupied. I quickly closed the door and hurriedly left the area as I feared that I may be harmed by the renter of that room. I returned to the desk clerk and explained that she had given me a room that was occupied. I received no explanation and certainly no apology. When I explained that I was concerned that I could have been shot, the clerk said “you probably wouldn’t be”. After some time, she found another room. This room was unkempt at best. Wooden 2X4 studs held up the lavatory. The couch had stains for who knows what and I simply stayed away from it. The lamp on the desk did not work as the switch was broken. The desk along with all surface areas had smears, stains and even worse. The carpet was torn in many spots and the caulking around the sink area seemed shoddy. The worst was the fact that the shower did not drain properly, and I was forced to shower in an unsanitary facility. No maid service was afforded me during my two night stay. When I pointed this out to the desk clerk, she seemed less than concerned. As I noticed this after returning from a long day at work, I commented that the least she could do was to get me some towels. Instead of attempting to make a bad situation better, she told me to “stay there and I’ll get you some”. I instructed her to arrange for the delivery of the towels. The absolute worst situation was on the morning of March 3, I found that water was again standing in my shower with questionable solids in the water. I called the fron desk and was told that maintenance wouldn’t arrive until 8:30. So I was forced to attempt to shower in a horribly unsanitary shower where water was backing up. I am completely disgusted even recalling this matter. The last an final insult came as I checked out on March 3. I asked for the manager and was told that she wasn’t there. I waited thirty minutes while waiting for a workmate and again checked on the status of the manager. I was told that “Kristie” was there but on the phone. I left my contact information and requested that Kristie contact me ASAP as I wanted to inform her of the issues and my great dissatisfaction. As of this writing on the afternoon of Friday, March 6, I have not heard from the manager or anyone associated with the LaQuinta at Waxahachie, TX. I am extremely upset about this whole incident. There were more issues, but I elected to focus on some of the more bothersome issues for brevity’s sake. Pictures are available if you would like to see some of the evidence of the conditions I am writing you about.

We got to our room on the 4th floor of the la quinta in moore oklahoma and although it was supposed to be smoke and pet free. It smelled like smoke and a strong oder of wet dog so they put us on the second floor and the smell was better but when i went to take a shower the water pressure was terrible. I have alot of pain and sometimes a hot shower with good pressure helps ease the pain but in this case the water pressure was so low that it was hard to even rinse all the soap off. I feel like this hotel was way over priced, it felt more like a $50 a nigjt hotel instead of the $100 we paid. I will advise anyone to find another place to stay because this was a bad experience and i will never be staying at another la quinta. Apparently they have went way down hill

Stayed at the La Quinta in Bossier City, LA on the last leg of our trip from Colorado to Georgia. We requested a room that was dog friendly. The morning of our departure we noticed our dog was scratching a lot but thought nothing of it as it could just have been dry skin or something. By the time we arrived home 8 hours later, the dog was constantly scratching herself, so we checked her out and she was infested with fleas. She had been on a monthly flea and tick regime since we got her 5 years ago. For the next week we treated the dog several times, had professionals come in and clean/treat the floors. I even had to bomb our vehicle. Our out-of-pocket expenses exceed $300 so far. I placed several calls to the property, each time asking for the GM Lawrence Brown and leaving a detailed message for my call. Mr. Brown is so arrogant and unprofessional that he chooses not to return my calls. I have called Corporate Office in Texas and left messages and they too have not returned my calls. Speaking to their Customer Service agent will only result in the call being routed back to the property which is obviously useless. I do not know what the La Quinta cleaning policy is for rooms being occupied by dogs, but it is obviously minimal or non-existent. Please avoid this property, especially if you have a pet, and please tell everyone you know.

I reserved 2 rooms for the upcoming weekend. We planned to stay 2 nights, my grandson plays football. We decided to originally book 2 nights because we didn't know his game schedule. I find that his schedule the first say is early evening and we can drive down the same day and only need a room for 1 night. I call to modify my reservation on the first room. I'm told there are no rooms available. I will not have hotel rooms in 2 different hotels. So I have to cancel the 2nd room. I really don't understand why I was not allowed to modify my reservation. I will not use Laquinta Inn again.

I entered my card# and submitted payment. The total cost was $150.29 (original fee of $105. 81, with $44.48 in taxes, charges, and service fees! What deceitful advertising. I cancelled my reservation and will stay elsewhere. I will NEVER stay with La Quinta again due to this dishonesty and false advertising. Trash in the drawers, sex toy in the drawers, BUGS everywhere even in the bed. Blood on the wall, I could go on and on but please know this place is disgusting. Other guests smoking meth. Bad, to begin with trash in the front drive, manager said guests dump trash from their cars, surly employee standing there did not go to pick up. Was not served a breakfast not even a glass of juice. I spent 15 minutes cleaning hair balls from pool. As far as room goes would have been suitable, but they did not clean or change sheets and no towels. Exterior of hotel had stains running down from air conditioners. Not inviting at all. I found the staff uncaring. I asked for some sort of compensation and was never contacted by hotel as I had reported my complaints to Wyndham. Do not stay there.

I won’t be staying at a La Quinta Inn again. It smelled very strongly of weed and the place felt dirty. I wanted to leave as soon as I checked in.
