I enjoy working out at LA Fitness. Their equipment is always clean and they make sure each person cleans up after their equipment use. I find that everyone there is respectful and I feel very comfortable working out there.

Overpriced and money hungry. LA Fitness pressures people into getting yearly contracts. I have never felt so pushed to buy than when I went take a tour of the facilities. Facilities are extremely nice but I felt very out of element for a new person to working out. Employees were also very rude and I will not be back.

Love how many locations this gym has, let's me stay in shape even when I'm visiting family a few hours from my city. I wish they would let me bring a friend for free like my last gym would but definitely love the tanning beds and massage chairs! The gyms are always clean and the employees are very friendly. The price is great too!

Arrived at the gym yesterday in cincinnati, ohio. found a note in small print that the hours are now closing at 9 pm. entire reason this brand is successful is 24/7 whats going on with planet fitness? Girl at the desk had no clue.
The Final Word
If you are looking for a local gym in the California area that has been in business since 1984, then we would recommend looking at LA Fitness. Unfortunately, there is a $89 upfront cost as well as $29.99 monthly fees which is triple what you would pay if you went with Planet Fitness.
Customers of both gyms have rated them almost exactly the same. If you are going to choose between these two gyms, we would recommend taking advantage of the low pricing with Planet Fitness and at least starting there with the free trial. Planet Fitness has been in business since 1992 and has provided service to a number of people for a fraction of the cost that other gyms charge.
